The philosophy of the school supports and enables two, three and four year-olds to have quality educational and social experiences.

Just like that another wonderful pre-k class moves along.

Spring Sing Concert today was just wonderful. Thank you Mrs. Helge for all your music, creativity and learning. Thank you children for sharing your songs, your art work and your joy. I missed the opportunity to snap some pictures of the children so I am hoping some will be sent to me. Can’t stop humming this evening. 🤗

Breakfast is served. We are so blessed by our amazing parents and students. Teacher appreciation week has rocked at LPCP.

How spoiled we all felt today at the start of Teacher Appreciation Week. Yummy lunch from Noodles and flowers for each of us. Thank you parents for making us feel so special and full. 😉

Science. Discovery. Curiosity. Fun. Growth. Creativity. Joy.
LPCPreschool sees it all every day. PreK learning in action!

clubs.scholastic.com Scholastic Book Clubs is the best possible partner to help you get excellent children's books into the hands of every child, to help them become successful lifelong readers and discover the joy and power of good books.

Donuts with daddies was enjoyed in the PreK class today. We had daddies and mommies and a great grandfather visit and share in this fun event. One dad stayed to be our guest reader! The book was “ish”. It is a favorite and the kids decided to show that with a hug.

In-house families already enrolled in another preschool class for 2019-20, please email the Director for in-house registration and pricing details.

Music as a Teaching Tool

Music to our ears!! We are so blessed to have Mrs. Angela Helge as our music teacher. She brings her musical talents and early childhood teaching experience to our little ones and shares the joy of music. Thank you Mrs. Angela Helge.

edutopia.org Incorporating music into almost any class can be a great way to teach content—and it doesn’t take special training or expensive resources.

Pre-K sensory art and play. So much learning happening here.

A great visual highlighting the importance of pre-reading skills.

Pastor Debbie is in Cuba so I had the pleasure of teaching the chapel lesson this week. We learned all about Peter, James and John who were having no luck fishing until Jesus came along and then their nets were full. We learned the song Peter, James and John in a Sailboat. Here is the link in case you want to enjoy it at home. 😉 https://youtu.be/9c-GnZ5YhmE

A group of Pre-K children naturally came together to work on a morning center. They all joined right in to help keep things straight. They really were a great team!

They had to find a number. Match it to the correct number block and put that amount of bears on the block and/or number. Number recognition, one to one correspondence, cooperation, turn-taking, reasoning, listening, communicating, hand-eye coordination, perseverance and team work. Yes we can at LPC-Preschool !

Interested in joining our church family...come to worship this Sunday and then join us for a special lunch!

Reminder that this happens March 10.
You are welcome to join us!

We would hate for you to miss the opportunity to share in the joy and love of learning at LPC-Preschool.

Pre-K’s guest reader today came disguised as “The Cat In The Hat”. This ‘mystery’ mom brought special snack and hats for everyone. 😀 Two of our Pre-K children share Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March 2nd. Happy birthday to our two sweet students and Dr. Seuss.

How lucky we were today to have Dr. Wollman from Deidra Bird Kokel, DDS and his helpful assistants here to teach us the importance of healthy teeth during National Children’s Dental Health Month.

Oh how we love to see those smiling faces showing their school spirit!!!

How the sensory system affects different aspects of your child's development and learning. This poster really ties it up nicely.

Happy Valentine’s Day from all the little love bugs at LPC-Preschool.

Great article from the Gesell Institute. Process versus product. So important to inspire creativity, sensory exploration and discovery. Yes we can at LPCPreschool!

Young children are active learners and Process Art is all about inviting children to actively explore a creative process.

Hard at work strengthening those hands:)

Integrated Learning Strategies

In Pre-K recently the children have been strengthening their hands by, cleaning; and 'painting with water' the playground and play equipment. Great collaborative exercise and "YES, we can at LPCP"!

I can't tell you how many kids I see on a daily basis that have weak hand strength, fingers and wrists for handwriting development. However, the best way to develop better hand strength and skills for handwriting is through play. Here's how...Print your copy!

The Right Brain Develops First ~ Why Play is the Foundation for Academic Learning

Another great read from The Gesell Institute.

vincegowmon.com Did you know that the right brain develops first? It does so by the time children are 3-4 years of age. The left brain, on the other hand, doesn't fully come online until children are approximately seven years old; hence the first seven years being recognized as such a critical period in child devel...

Registration for new students starts on February 5th at 930am. A special link will be posted on our website https://lpcpreschool.org DO NOT wait, space is limited and expected to fill quickly!

Integrated Learning Strategies

This really illustrates why exposing children to the sound shape and rhythm of language is essential. Hear the word, see the word, and shape the word. Sing, dance, tap, rap and light up the brain like a Christmas tree.

If your child adds or subtracts letters/sounds to words or completely forgets them after memorizing them, there is a way to help. Anchor it to movement! #reading

kids Master Skills
First skills. Then reading.

Children need visual perceptual skills to recognize the differences between letters. They must understand the basics of how books work: Word by word, they tell a story. And kids must differentiate between sounds. A good foundation of skills is vital for reading!

Here are some wonderful activities to build some skills needed for reading.

I always suggest that parents start the journey to finding reasons and solutions by consulting their pediatrician. Ask about the possibility of hidden allergies. This is more common that you might think.

In music class this month the kids have enjoyed learning about quiet (piano) and loud (forte) music. We have explored a different classical piece each week while finding the parts when the music is piano and when it is forte. They particularly enjoyed the piece this week and quite a few of them wanted to watch the whole 15 minute orchestra performance at home. So here is the link for you to share with them and be amazed when they tell you the music is piano or forte. We enjoyed the fact that the conductor seemed to be conducting with what looks like a toothpick. 🙂

In PreK the children enjoyed STEM activities like learning about the polar habitat and how arctic animals stay warm. They helped some "polar friends" escape from a glacier using salt and water. The children then found out how blubber (Crisco shortening) is an insulator and keeps arctic animals warm and dry. The class took turns dipping their feet and/or hands (protected by a layer of blubber) into ice cold water to experience how it works to insulate and protect them from the cold.

Our Two’s teachers plan excellent experiences for the children to help them develop the skills they need to process their world and connect knowledge as they learn and grow. The Two’s were excited to explore many new activities; parachute during music, painting fireworks and some exciting Barefoot Sensory fun with play doh and shaving cream.

Handwriting Without Tears begins in the Two’s at LPCP. Mat Man activities introduce the program’s language of instruction, wooden piece materials, and teaches body awareness, taking turns and listening. All done in a day’s play.

Pre-k enjoying a visit from our mystery reader parent. Too cold to play outside but lovely and warm, and full of fun and learning indoors.

Great resource. Good timing. Big decisions.

Happy New Year from LPCP to all our wonderful families and friends. May 2019 be a year filled with health, joy, peace, love and learning.

Come worship Christmas Eve with us!

From everyone at LPCPreschool, we wish you a Merry Christmas. May your days be merry and bright and your hearts full of the joy of season.

An amazing ‘Fox in Socks’ mystery reader dad came to Pre-K today. The children loved the story which brought much laughter and many smiles.

Ms. Kelli and Ms. Cindy’s Three’s were bare-foot process artists this week. They learned about Tom Yendell who paints with his feet and is very talented and quite amazing. In this experience the children were exploring new sensations, working their brains hard while processing the activity, coordinating and crossing their mid-lines, and being creative. What a marvelous experience!

At LPCPreschool we provide the environment and opportunities for little children that will encourage them to develop dense neural pathways in their brains and strong, coordinated, flexible bodies. All this leads to better learning. Children need to explore and integrate the sound, shape and rhythm of life into their day. They play, discover, connect knowledge, build muscle memory, climb, try and try again, and interact physically in the real world.#realworldplay #connectingthedots #discoveringknowledge #touchtastesmellexperience #proprioceptionrules #realplaylessscreenplay #LPCPROCKS!
