[11/07/14]   Hello everyone!

I opened up a Blog on my website for educational purposes.
What you will find is about skin rejuvenation and really what is it?
I take you down to the molecular level of the skin and reveal what happens there, how we age, how we slow down this process and explain what Skin rejuvenation really is.

Please visit my website periodically for other interesting subjects. Following, my next article will address "preparing the skin for treatment and why it is so important to keep a healthy epidermis"

Best wishes!

[09/25/14]   Skin Care after Summer.

Sunshine is healthy since we need it to synthesize Vitamin D. However, too much of a good thing is bad. UVA, UVB, and UVR rays are harmful to living skin cell membranes in the epidermis, causing lipid peroxidation. As a result, cell respiration (exchange of oxygen, nutrition’s, and cellular waist) will be compromised. Additionally, UVR inactivates Vitamin A receptors of the cell membrane, making it unable to recognize Vitamin A in extra cellular space. Cells require Vitamin A for cell replication, and if unavailable, it will increase the chance of a damaged cell or poor replication.

Sunshine also thickens and discolors the Stratum Corneum (the very top layer of the skin) that protects the lower living cells. That is why after summer we notice more fine lines and wrinkles with strange looking dark spots on face and neck decollate.

UVR rays also take a toll on the lower layer (dermis) of the skin. An enzyme, which normally promotes healthy collagen and elastin, now breaks down the same fibers it was to protect.

Here is my advice on how to retain skin health and vitality.

Depending on your age and skin type, exfoliation is required to get rid of the thickened dead skin cells. By doing this, your skin will be absorb vital vitamins and antioxidants easier. As a result, newer fresher cells appear and fine lines/wrinkles will diminish.

Healthy Collagen and Elastin formation require: Vitamin C & A, Amino Acids, Copper Peptides, Growth Factors and Essential Fatty Acids to name a few.

Consuming Foods high in essential fatty acids is crucial for healthy collagen, elastin and epidermal growth. If you currently are on low fat diet you may run the risk having an Essential Fatty Acid Deficiency.

To prevent further lipid peroxidation as described above, you need antioxidants in skin care preparations, such as the Vitamin trio A, C, and E applied daily.

Moisturizing skin with biological healing oils help rebuild the protective skin barrier and prevent epidermal water loss.

Finally, sun protection is a must! Use physical (mineral) sunscreen and avoid chemical ones.

I hope you find my post informative!

Hi!

I just signed the petition "Members of the Board: Rescind or reword regulation 984(e) and explicity permit estheticians to perform services on acneic skin." on Change.org.

It's important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link:

[05/25/14]   Hello everyone!

Are you ready for summer? I mean....prepared with sun protection?

Here is my recommendation. Get a physical/mineral (Titanium and Zinc Oxide) sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30, which reflects UV rays. (97% protection).

Avoid chemical sunscreen ingredients. Studies have shown that chemical sunscreens penetrate into the skin and absorb UV rays that can cause skin inflammation, free radical damage with a potential for cancer, and break outs in acne prone skin.

Don't be afraid to go out and enjoy the summer sun....just make sure you have the right protection. Best times to enjoy the sun are mid-morning and mid-afternoon and for not longer than 20-30 minutes per tanning period.

Enjoy!
