If you vape, and you have shortness of breath, chest pain, fever, it may not be COVID-19 at all. Radiologists and medical imaging scientists sound the alarm about a new disease spreading across the planet, associated precisely with smoking electronic cigarettes. The first reports on a new disease began to appear at the end of 2019, long before the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) called the disease EVALI – e-cigarette or vaping use-associated lung injury, in another words, lung disease caused by electronic cigarettes or vaping. 95% of patients with EVALI initially complain of shortness of breath, severe cough, chest pain. In 85% of cases fever, chills, weight loss are added to the above symptoms. In 77% of cases diarrhea, nausea and vomiting emerge. As you can see, it looks like pretty much as an ideal picture of symptoms of bilateral pneumonia caused by COVID-19. However, it may have nothing to do with coronavirus at all, but if a person vape or smoke e-cigarettes occasionally, it might be EVALI disease. #SamburskiysArticle009 #SamburskiysArticle #EVALI #Covid19 #Radiology
Health experts: Moscow approaches the peak of the epidemic. The polyclinics converted to outpatient CT centers started to admit COVID-19 patients. A novel routing mechanism is there to secure access to radiological and instrumental diagnostic methods for patients with physical illnesses or cancer. The outpatient CT centers maintain their regular radiology departments and adhere to the sanitary and epidemiological safety precautions. The experts of the Moscow Center of Diagnostics & Telemedicine monitor the supply of the personal protective equipment, keep track of the number of radiographers and radiology technicians, and conduct training seminars and workshops for clinicians involved in COVID-19 care. #Covid19 #healthcare #Moscow #SamburskiysArticle #Samburskiy008

First and oldest radiology society in the United States. The American Roentgen Ray Society, founded in 1900, is the first and oldest radiology society in the United States.

The society has been a forum for progress in radiology since shortly after the discovery of the X-ray and is dedicated to the goal of the advancement of medicine through the science of radiology and its allied sciences. The goal of the ARRS is maintained through an annual scientific and educational meeting, through publication of the American Journal of Roentgenology, and through other educational symposia. The Annual Meeting consists of instructional courses, scientific paper presentations, a symposium, a new issues forum, scientific exhibits, and commercial exhibits. A special categorical course and annual Case-Based Review Course is also offered. Category 1 CME credits are available on an hour-for-hour basis. All members of the Society may attend the Annual Meeting with discounted payment of the general registration fee. The monthly American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR) is a highly respected peer-reviewed journal with a worldwide circulation of more than 25,000. For more than 100 years, the AJR has been recognized as one of the best specialty journals in the world. The quarterly ARRS InPractice magazine keeps members informed of Annual Meeting plans and general Society information. The Society invests in the future of radiology by awarding scholarships and awards to deserving individuals through the Roentgen Fund.

Mission: The Society’s mission is to improve health through a community committed to advancing knowledge and skills in radiology.
