571.420.2609 Did you know that all children are musical? Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture the musical growth of your child, regardless of your own musical ability? Experience Music Together® and find out how important--and how fun--your role can be! Our Music Together classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. We'll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so. Oops! I forgot to post this one last week.
In the Hall of the Mountain King by Peer Gynt is another piece of music you have heard a thousand times. It is a perfect piece of music for children to listen to as they begin to understand the musical term accelearndo. (gradually get faster)
Meet the Villenas! This family of 4 started Music Together when they lived in Houston, Texas. It was Kristine’s first mommy-and-baby class with Lukas when he was only 3 months old.
After moving to Virginia in January 2017, and starting classes with Little Tots, Kristine loved music classes along with the opportunity to get out of the house during the cold Leesburg winter. She now considers many of the women she has met in class close friends!!!
[06/21/19] Hey friends! Today is national selfie day. Snap a selfie and share it in the comments!
When a grandfriend brings dum dums to class you walk away double fisting them!
Have you checked out the new ice skating rink in Leesburg @Ion_itc? We heard about the free family skate on Father's Day weekend!
This cutie walked on the ice not having a clue, but had determination to become a skater! Whoop whoop!
Another Hee Haw dueling banjo! I love it.
"Bury Me Beneath the Willow"
I encourage you to redirect my kids because they will listen to you and I’m not sure the sound of my voice resonates anymore. 😉😆😘
medium.com There was a kid running at the neighborhood pool the other day. The pool attendant asked him to walk — as pool attendants have done since…
We had a great day celebrating Father’s Day! (Sorry about the pic with hair in your face @km123l. It was the best of 17! 😂)
Hanging out with Jay from Super Kicks Leesburg! Thanks for having us Stagecoach Theatre company.
FEATURE FRIDAY: Today we feature our own Miss Jennene Estes!
There are so many amazing things to say about Miss Jennene. Her music expertise comes from education, travel (Did you know she and her husband travel all over the country on their 🏍motorcycles? So cool! 😎), and experience. With a background in cello and a seat in the Loudoun Symphony Orchestral, she uses music to connect with families all over the world!
We love the passion she brings to class and the dedication she shows helping children find their inner rhythm and build connections through music.
Thank you for everything you do to bring joy to our young children and the families of Loudoun County. Xoxo
This is powerful. #Arts2Life
Happy 50th birthday ‘A Very Hungry Caterpillar!’
npr.org Will author and artist Eric Carle's famously peckish creation be munching his way through some birthday cake? (Along with the salami, the pickle, the watermelon and the slice of Swiss cheese.)
This really is a good one. “I’ve know millionaires who are unhappy.” Let’s teach our children to serve our community and take care of others. It will fill our souls.
cnbc.com Through my decades of experience as a mother, grandmother and educator, I've identified several fundamental values that help our kids achieve success. One of them is kindness — and it's something I often see parents fail to teach their kids.
I know my kids are going to be bored this summer. How do you feel about this philosophy?
qz.com "Being bored is a way to make children self-reliant.”
So our summer semester is no longer called Summer 2 but BANJO! I love the name change. I'm pretty sure it was changed so everyone around the world would feel connected to the instruments as not all seasons are the same.
I've been having fun researching banjo music for play-alongs and free dance music and this really is an amazing instrument. The people who play it are insanely talented.
Do you remember Hee Haw? Watch this dueling banjo set.

A friend shared this with me today and I really needed to read it. #momguilt
pleasebringcoffee.com I really hate writing anything that divides “working” and “stay at home” moms — both using air quotes because we all work hard and we all care for our homes. But there is on…

Drowning can happen to any family. It’s quick, and it’s silent. After birth defects, drowning is the number one cause of death for children ages 1-4. In this video, Bode and Morgan Miller and Nicole Hughes, who lost their children to #drowning on the same day last year, discuss #DrowningPrevention with American Academy of Pediatrics pediatrician Dr. Ben Hoffman in an effort to help keep more children safe. Visit http://www.aap.org/drowning to learn more.
Do you love this song as much as I do? We are playing it in our free dance today, hopefully I can catch a video of it. :) #lumineers #ophelia

Meant to post this yesterday but we were having so much fun I forgot. (I kind of hope that happens a lot this summer!)
Happy summer break!
Meet Brooke! This cutie has been with us since 2015 and has never missed a session. Don't let the scarf over her face fool you — this girl is not afraid to sing! I just love these two and have found them to be such a blessing in our classes.
Becky says, “I wish I had found Music Together earlier so Brooke could have experienced the program as a toddler. I think music does amazing things to help children learn, develop, and self-regulate, so I often wonder what it might have done for Brooke to start the program sooner.“

My favorite song from the Tamborine collection, "Inanay" is all about the goanna lizard. Check out the link to learn more.
bushheritage.org.au There are 27 living goanna species in Australia, most are carnivorous. All have a similar body shape with sharp teeth and claws to help them hunt and eat. Size is their distinguishing feature; the largest is the Perentie which grows over 2m long, and the smallest the Short-tailed Monitor, which grow...

Interesting fact about “There’s a Hole in the Bucket” is that it’s a circle song, meaning it has no end. And believe me you feel it when you sing this version and wonder why these two bears just can’t figure things out.
The fun part is that you and your child can make up your own funny versions of the song!
Enjoy HOLE IN THE BUCKET DAY! (Who knew?) 😂
So I'm looking to start a few new things to help make our community an even better TRIBE! I'm starting a Little Tots FB group and I need someone to help me manage this. It won't be a crazy amount at all. But if I manage another social media outlet I might just be attached to my phone at every hour of the day. I'd love to offer this "social media friend" a barter for discounted classes.
My next idea I got from the Fit4Mom Ashburn group. I would like for us to have regular playdates after our classes so you have an opportunity to connect beyond music class time. (This is especially helpful because we don't have lots of conversation in class anyway.) I would like this person(s) to coordinate and attend the playdates to help give them purpose and a "ring leader." Maybe you decide to use the room we have classes in, or go to Great Country Farms. Whatever the case may be, my children are no longer able to attend these as they are in elementary school (WHAT!!!). I feel this position would be best if run by someone who also has children to bring. Again, I would like to offer a barter and I am open to all kinds of creative ideas on how to organize and make this a great thing!
If you are interested, please reach out! I'd love to chat and start brainstorming ideas.
Parenthood isn’t always an easy journey and we want you to feel welcomed and loved in our music classes.
Yes, our classes are a place to bond with your children while they learn about music. But Music Together is also a tribe. We make sure we sing hello to everyone in class, and encourage adults to interact, share, and play along together.
We’ve seen some beautiful friendships develop in class. So go ahead, ask for a playdate or an adult-night out!
Have you found forever friends in class? I know I have! Tag her here!
I’m so happy to be entering into summer! Happy pool days.
Musical Monday is all about the music we will be enjoying for our summer semester - the BANJO collection. (Previously known as Summer 2)

Lake Braddock Pyramid parents with little or no musical experience spent five months learning string instruments to perform during a recent concert. Parents participated to learn how to better support their students at home, and also to bond with their children through a shared love of music. #OurFCPS
