Voices of the Children

www.VOCListens.org. We are a non-profit organization helping children and mothers in Ghana

Voices of the Children is a 5013c non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide vital educational and health services, and encourage self-esteem and self-preservation among the women and children of Ghana.

We believe that by providing accessible education to all children, regardless of their mental or physical challenges, they can improve their own lives and those of their families. Our programs encourage self-esteem, communication and acceptance between mothers and with their children.

Mission: Our mission is to improve the lives of mentally and physically challenged children and their families, as well as to provide education, encourage communication and understanding, and build support systems. There is much work to be done, and our ambitions are tremendous. That’s why we need your help. Please donate to Voices of the Children today and help us to reach our goal that no child in Ghana is left behind.

[06/02/11]   The average Ghanaian lives on $40 a month. For about $1.29 a day you will be responsible for the children of VOC to have access to these basic needs by sponsoring a child:

Please, Sponsor a child today.

Amina who someday wants to be a physician, suffers from Severe headaches. Her father passed away and her mother can hardly keep up with Amina's medical bills. We hope someday to help Amina and her mother with their medical expenses.

[04/23/11]   There are many children we want to help; with your donations and gifts of school supplies and gently used clothing, we can make it happen:

Yaa Atta is a 10 year old girl who stopped attending school when she moved in with other family members after her mother died. Yaa Atta wants to go to school, and is determined to catch up with her classmates. We want to help fulfill this girl’s dream of an education.

General information

In Ghana, women and children are taught to be submissive. As a result, many children born with birth defects or physical infirmities are left to fend for themselves or worse. Those who are lucky enough to be spared are not permitted to attend school and are denied social interaction. Our organization seeks to change the current belief system that the ill or physically challenged do not deserve of education and protection, by introducing programs that are designed to teach children and their families.
