[05/25/20] As a reminder, we are closed today in observance of Memorial Day. If you have a pet related emergency please call Animal Emergency Critical Care at 703-777-5755. We reopen at 9am tomorrow. Stay safe and hug your pets!
In an effort to open up additional appointment availability moving forward we have adjusted our weeknight closing to 7pm. Our new adjusted hours will be Monday-Friday 9am-7pm, Saturday 8am-3pm, and we will remain closed on Sundays.
Thank you for your patience as we adjust and settle in to our curbside services. At times we understand that our call volume exceeds the available phone lines and you may need to try back when you first arrive for your appointment or product pick-up. We are working to ensure we stagger arrival times and have available phones with additional team members whenever possible to limit these occurrences.
Happy Mother’s Day from the OMVH Team!
Here's a quick glance at how to prepare for & what to expect at your visit with our Curbside Service protocols.
We just have to thank Dr Bardsley for helping us laugh a bit and have a few moments to be kids. She sent the team on an egg hunt through the hospital with all kinds of goodies as prizes today. We have yet to find out who is the target for the silly string or water guns. We’re so grateful to have such a motivated and caring team always working to help each other get through the routine and more challenging moments.
First of all, Thank you to all of our amazing clients and supporters! You are all so appreciated as we navigate these changing scenarios.
Based on today’s executive order we will need to begin ensuring that our patient visits, whether with a Veterinarian or a technician, are for medical needs or concerns. We will no longer be offering appointments for strictly nail trimming or Bordetella vaccinations.
Exams for strictly wellness and not requiring any vaccinations or addressed concerns should be postponed until the order has been lifted. We are happy to review your pets medical record at anytime and help ensure we are all doing the best for them during this difficult time. Together we can support the needs of you, your pet, our team, and the greater public. We appreciate you and the ability to be here when you need us!

Adjusted Hospital Hours:
Beginning Thursday, March 19th, we will be operating under temporary adjusted hours until further notice. We will be open Monday-Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 8am-3pm, and Closed on Sundays. These adjusted hours will ensure we are able to staff the hospital appropriately and provide adequate response to the increased call volume and logistics involved in new protocols. We will be suspending any elective non-critical Dental Cleanings and Surgeries because we need to conserve supplies and not overwhelm our reduced staff. We will accommodate other surgical procedures as needed based on the availability of our surgeons. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to provide you with quick and concise updates as we navigate the changing and challenging requirements with regard to the current situation. We have made a Curbside History form available on our website under the Covid-19 updates. This is a great option to have completed and ready to hand off to the team members when arriving for patient exams.
We also want to give a shout out to the team as they are working extremely hard to ensure our processes and procedures are as smooth as possible while we maintain the high standards we have for the care and treatment of your cherished pets. If you have not received the email regarding our updated protocols for services and prescription pick-ups, please visit www.oldmillpets.com and follow the prompts related to Covid-19.

Hospital Policy Update: Effective immediately, we will be asking that all clients arriving for appointments or medication/food pick up call upon arrival in the parking lot. We will not be allowing clients into the lobby or exam rooms in order to maintain the utmost safety for our clients and team members.
We have emailed detailed instructions and protocols to all of our active clients. If you have not received the email, please feel free to call or ask when you schedule your appointment or medication request, we will gladly email it to your preferred email address. We will be updating our website tomorrow with a detailed outline. As always, we appreciate your continued support and patience with our team members as we all work together with you to ensure the safety and health of everyone. Here for you, here for your pets, and here for our team.
We here at Old Mill value your health and the health of our team. This is not intended to add to all of the overwhelming information, but to reiterate our commitment to you and your pets well-being. To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, we have enacted strict disinfection protocols that follow the CDC, American Veterinary Medical Association, and Virginia Department of Health guidelines. We are working to limit the number of clients waiting in our lobby. If we do not have available rooms, we may ask that you wait in your car until we have a room available. If you would prefer to call us upon your arrival and wait in the car, reach us at 703-779-2903.
To help us in our fight we respectfully ask the following of you:
• If you feel ill with symptoms compatible with COVID-19, please reschedule any routine appointments until you have seen a health care provider and have been cleared.
• Anyone with a cough or sneezing that you believe are from known causes other than COVID-19, we respectfully ask that you wear a surgical mask for the duration of your visit out of an abundance of caution.
• If your pet requires essential medical services and one of the following situations apply, please call us before coming in to our facility so we can work with you to meet your pet’s needs:
- You are sick with COVID-19
- You have symptoms compatible to COVID-19 that have not been assessed and cleared by a health care provider
- You are under self-quarantine due to a known exposure to COVID-19
• If you are a member of a high risk population and are hesitant to come into our offices- please let us know so we can meet your pet’s needs while protecting your health.
Thank you for your support, patience, and understanding as we navigate these changes. We will continue to update you here and on our website.

As the world is concerned about the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus), we in veterinary medicine are actively monitoring developments related to animals and this virus. Currently there is no evidence that dogs or other pets can contract or spread COVID-19. As with any virus, such as influenza, proper hygiene protocols should be followed.
