#FridayFaces — Meet Brietta Kubak, PT, DPT, our hospital’s newest women’s health & pelvic floor physical therapist!
Brietta completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy through Northeastern University and earned her Masters of Physical Therapy at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. She’s worked as a physical therapist for the Canadian Back Institute and in outpatient orthopedics and pelvic health in Portland.
Brietta’s commitment to pelvic health led to additional post-graduate education focused on pregnancy, postpartum, pelvic pain, urinary/bowel incontinence and prolapse. Her practice focuses on decreasing pain, achieving ideal movement patterns, and returning to normal daily activities through a combination of patient education, manual therapy, and exercise prescription. Her extensive continued education allows her to specialize in both women’s and men’s health including bowel, bladder, and sexual function.
Fun Fact: Brietta is passionate about scuba diving. She also enjoys skiing, knitting, traveling, cooking new cuisines, and playing board games with her husband! #LoudounGrownBaby #LoveLoudounBaby
We love our pediatric patients, nurses and the new snoozer cruiser!! ❤️ #LoveLoudounBaby #LoudounGrownBaby
We have a new addition to our operating room team – the Snoozer Cruiser! Kids “drive” themselves from the waiting room to the operating room. They are excited and less anxious about why they are at the hospital, creating a better outcome for everyone. Our nurses are known for driving outcomes and this time they literally drove an idea from concept to completion.
Thanks to our generous donors for funding this project. #NursesDrivingOutcomes #ThankfulThursday
Meet Kaden – an adorable #LoudounGrownBaby and #NICUGrad!
Kaden spent 16 days in our #NICU. Kaden’s mom says that our doctors and nurses were beyond helpful – from the minute she was put on bed rest to their last day spent in the NICU. Their experience would not have been as smooth and positive if it wasn’t for our team.
Today, Kaden is a healthy baby who enjoys being outside, reading books and eating green beans! He will celebrate his 1st birthday next week – Happy Birthday Kaden!
Words of wisdom from Kaden’s parents: Always ask questions! The doctors and nurses will explain everything to you. And, be sure to take care of yourself too! #LoveLoudounBaby

Meet Cora – A beautiful 1 year old #LoudounGrownBaby and #NICUGrad!
Cora was born a month early as a result of her mom’s preeclampsia. She was only 3 lbs. and 15 oz., so she spent 9 days in our #NICU to gain weight. Today, Cora is a bubbly little girl who loves dancing, playing outside, reading books, and petting her cat. Her favorite food is olives.
Cora’s parents were so thankful for her NICU stay because they felt that it allowed them to truly learn how to be the best parents and care for their preemie baby. They loved their NICU nurses – especially Sarah, Danielle, Diane and Leslie. Danielle made Cora a special sign that now hangs in her bedroom at home. Mom was also thankful for the lactation specialists. Labor and delivery nurse, Buffy, was an “Angel on Earth!”
Words of wisdom from Cora’s mom – “If you find yourself in the NICU, it’s sometimes hard to talk to your baby when they’re in the incubator. I recommend reading books to your baby. Also, take the time to learn from the NICU nurses. Don't be afraid to ask questions – they love helping you transition into your new role as a parent.” #LoveLoudounBaby

#ThankfulThursday -- Special thanks to Ms. Larson and the Brambleton Middle School for hosting a book drive for our babies!
The class did a research project on the many benefits of reading to babies which includes advancing brain development, language, vocabulary, listening and memory skills. Early language exposure also increases reading proficiency by 3rd grade, which is a strong predictor of high school graduation and career success.
Early reading is important for all newborns -- but, especially for our #NICU babies. While in the NICU, critical brain development is happening. Reading to NICU babies helps to reduce stress, promotes parent-baby bonding, and optimal brain development.
In an effort to prevent language delays, The Birthing Inn is committed to promoting early reading and very much appreciates this class' efforts! #BAMBabyBearBooks #LoudounGrownBaby #LoveLoudounBaby

Meet McKinley – A sweet 3 year-old #LoudounGrownBaby and #NICUGrad!
Her mom’s severe preeclampsia led to her early delivery at 32 weeks. McKinley’s parents were grateful for the incredible care they received from the doctors and nurses during their month-long stay in the #NICU. They say that their NICU care team is now like family!
Today, McKinley is an active little girl who loves swimming and playing outside. Her favorite toys include her doctor’s kit, play kitchen and Disney princesses. McKinley’s favorite foods are strawberries, olives and McDonald’s!
Words of wisdom from McKinley’s mom: “Be prepared for ANYTHING – from birth not going as you planned to the wild ride of parenthood!" #LoveLoudounBaby

#FridayFaces - Meet Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Jessica Braun!
Jessica is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) at Loudoun Women's Healthcare Associates. Before becoming a WHNP, she was a Labor & Delivery nurse here at The Birthing Inn for 15 years! She fell in love with obstetric nursing during her L&D internship while a senior at Penn State. She returned to school for her masters degree in High Risk Perinatology, and later a post masters degree in Women’s Health.
Jessica has been working as a WHNP in women’s health private practice for 15 years. Her goal is to provide her patients with comprehensive information about their own health and their baby's health so that they can feel confident in making informed healthcare decisions.
Fun Facts: Jessica and her husband just recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to the Dominican Republic! Their oldest son is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina and their youngest son has followed his footsteps and now is now a freshman at the same university.
When not cheering for Penn State, Jessica still enjoys cheering for Stone Bridge High School's athletics. She loves taking her two 4-legged fur babies for walks (photoed below) and admits that she's a fan of reality TV shows!
Meet Jessica tomorrow at our Spring OB Open House -- she and Dr. Chauncey Stokes will be leading a breakout session on "Comfort Measures & Pain Management During Labor" at 11:45 a.m. #LoudounGrownBaby #LoveLoudounBaby
