The LIFECentre Emergency & Specialty Veterinary Care

Gigi wanted to say Thank You for her new ball!πŸ’—
We took our cat to "The Life Center" on Sunday, February 11th based on a positive review that we read on Google...and boy, let me tell ya, that's the last time we ever make that mistake. The only thing these people are interested in doing is taking advantage of pet owner's ignorance and separating them from their hard earned money. They charged us $844 to examine our cat and induce her to have a bowel movement. They couldn't even tell us what was wrong, yet, refused to proceed any further until we approved a $1500 treatment plan and we paid a minimum $782 deposit. You'd think for that kind of fee, they would've at least been able to tell us what was wrong with our cat but, we ended-up having to go to our regular vet a few days later to seek treatment and address the same issue...and spend an additional $872 (which we were glad to do). "The Life Center" is predatory. They prey upon the fear and uncertainty of pet owners when their pets need emergency treatment and then they take advantage of their distress by sticking it to them for every penny they can get. Do yourself a favor and, more importantly, do your pet a favor and take them somewhere else if they get sick on the weekend! Better yet, wait until your regular vet can see them if possible! There's no way we would ever take our cat back to VCA Animal Emergency Critical Care and no way we would ever recommend this place.
We had to put our sweet dog down early this morning. They were very accommodating and genuinely supportive. It was an emotional time for all concerned and they gave us the space we needed and answered all our questions. We can’t thank them enough for making it an easier time for us.
Thank you for taking such good care of Toby. Today he seems back to himself, smile and all πŸ™ŒπŸ»

I have posted a picture twice and twice I can’t find it after an hour πŸ™„πŸ˜•
Meet Foxy! An adorable Australian Shepherd mix who is a little shy and timid at first but she is extremely loyal. She loves receiving pets but sometimes she is selective on who she receives pets from. This is ONE of two pictures where she is looking at the camera! Thank you to the wonderful woman at the booth who helped got her attention! 😊

Guess Hoo we met today?! πŸ¦‰πŸ’•πŸ¦‰
This Barred Owl was brought in by our friends with Loudoun County Animal Services after being found on the side of the road. Our amazing team with Animal Emergency Critical Care examined him gently and carefully, and determined that he had injuries consistent with a vehicle strike.
Often, the side of the road is like a buffet for birds, and he might have been knocked by a passing car.
He has been transferred to Blue Ridge Wildlife Center for their expert care, and hopefully, a full recovery.
He recieved owl appropriate meds to help reduce inflammation, and was stabilized for a ride in the owl ambulance. πŸš‘
Please 'like' Blue Ridge Wildlife for stories about the creatures they care for, it's a great place, and they work extremely hard caring for our wild neighbors.

If you're in the area, please stop by!!

Stop by today in support of Diamond and her family for our Charity Dog Wash and Bake Sale. Diamond is a local pup who survived a house fire in which her family lost everything. Come show your love to this resilient family and pup.

Miracle pup: Dog reunited with family after nearly dying in Fairfax County house fire

Another absolutely wonderful Patient Tail! Diamond has the entire county wrapped around her paw. πŸ’ŽπŸΎ The local community of pet lovers, amazing friends, local families and the team with our own Animal Emergency Critical Care have all pulled together to help this sweet dog reunite with her family after a fire destroyed their home.

Veterinary medicine is an tough job and it is definitely not 'playing with puppies all day'. It's frequently challenging and often heartbreaking and long, long hours of physically demanding work.

The team that cared for this tough girl stood by her night and day, every minute until she could breathe on her own, eat small meals and begin to walk.

Seeing her fight and recover, is a huge win. Seeing her in her family's arms, wagging her tail and kissing them? Well honestly, there is nothing better. ❀

* Our friends with Bring Ace Home - A Lesson In Faith have rallied for Diamond, sharing her story, raising money and donations for the Richardsons and Diamond's care. They deserve a HUGE Thank You!! for everything they've done to ensure Diamond's story is known. πŸ’ŽπŸΎπŸ’Ž A Northern Virginia family was reunited with their beloved dog Friday, after their home was destroyed by fire a week ago.

Our amazing team with Animal Emergency Critical Care has been caring for this sweet girl for several days - round the clock. She was saved from a house fire that destroyed everything her family had, including their other pets. When she was first admitted to the ICU she was on a ventilator and monitored every second, 24 hours a day, by the ER team. Day by day she has improved and you can read more about her below οΈπŸ’Ž

Not only does the Emergency and Critical Care team work 24/7 - 365 days a year, they also treat some of the most difficult, heartbreaking and emotionally challenging cases. It has been just fantastic to follow Diamonds recovery so far, and there is no greater reward than seeing her tail wag as she visits her family. πŸ₯°

We are extremely proud of the ER and ICU teams dedication and commitment to exceptional veterinary care. Each and every person on their team truly does a stellar job.

When we hold fundraisers for "The Princess Fund" this is where those funds go, to our ER patients who need help the most ❀ We appreciate your support of these patients and wanted to share her story with you

She is a lucky duck! πŸ˜‰

What a beautiful bird and we know our friends @Blue Ridge Wildlife Center will take excellent care of this bald eagle until it's able to be released! πŸ¦…

Be sure to follow Blue Ridge Wildlife Center for all kinds of great stories and information about our local wildlife!

DFC Ethan Martin was just ending his shift Friday when he saw several cars pulled over along Sycolin Road. He noticed one motorist appeared to be consoling something under his coat. DFC Martin, concerned someone may have been injured, stopped and found the injury was to a Bald Eagle that had been struck by a passing truck. He contacted our partners at Loudoun County Animal Services and the Eagle is now being treated at the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center.

Thank you to the concerned motorists who helped the injured bird and Officer Stacks and Officer Powers with #Loudoun Animal Services.

Thanks to you the Eagle is now in good hands.

We recently received some very kind words from one of our Leesburg clients. Boomshea is a 10-year old Mastiff who Dr. Speas has been treating for Epitheliotropic Lymphoma.

"I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Speas for all of her expertise, understanding, and empathy through the difficult process of having a dog with cancer. We couldn’t have asked for a better doctor leading Boomshea’s care team, and we always felt in the best of hands. Dr. Speas has given us not just more time with Boomie, but more quality time with her. She’s been living her best life the last few months, and that is an amazing gift." - Katie

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Katie! Lots of love to Boomshea. πŸ’š

#teamwork #veterinarymedicine #tlcvets #weloveourwork

Did you know that seizures are more prevalent in certain breeds of dogs? German shepherds, Poodles, Cocker Spaniels, Collies, and Golden Retrievers are among the most common, but cats can also have it. On the bright side, seizures can often be well controlled with medicine, but it can still be a complicated problem for pet owners.

Learn more about the signs of a seizure and how we treat it on our website:

Ducks and dogs and turkeys, oh my: Loudoun pets shine on 'Good Morning America'

Congratulations to all the LoCo pets featured!!πŸΆπŸ¦ƒπŸ¦†!! Popular ABC News program "Good Morning America" held its inaugural Pet of the Year contest this month, and three Loudoun County pets are relishing their time in the spotlight.

What a heartwarming post! We love our nearby shelters and rescues who do such an amazing job caring for pets while they wait for their new families! Consider adopting a new friend this holiday or donating something in honor of your pets at home. If you'd like to make a donation to any shelter, you can bring it to us and we will deliver it - Just let us know where! There's a wagon in our lobby 🐾❀️ and we're here 24/7

Berkeley County Humane Society is always our biggest delivery, as they have more dogs than any other facility and they always have a lot of cats.

Each kennel has their stockings hung. The cat room (that has free roaming cats. No kennels.) received 3 Santa’s sacks full of treats, and toys, tunnels, blankets, wands, ball towers, cat kicker sticks and canned food out the yaaaazooooo. We prob dropped off about 800 cans total of just cat food between the Santa sacks and all the cases. You all did this RMWV village. There is also cases of dog food, large boxes of dog treats, cleaning supplies, outside toys and everything in between. It’s truly too much to try to list.

The dogs are happy.
The kitties are happy.
And the staff is happy and appreciative.

There are a lot of great animals here looking for Furever homes. If you have been considering adopting, stop by this weekend, and visit the shelter animals. Maybe consider opening your home to one not just for the holidays but for always. β™₯️

If you’d like to stop by and stick some things in the stockings while they are still there, go for it! Once adopted.. the stocking will go home with the dog/cat. 🐾🐾
