Thank you so much for the letter, card and check for Easter Dinner! Living in a rural area, there are not many services or programs available, so this was just such a well needed reminder of how many people care
The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes has played a great part in my life during my transition from military life to civilian life. I did not feel judged but did feel their willingness to help. They answered all my questions and also provided details regarding eligibility and the next steps during the process. They helped me during my most challenges times of my life. All it took was for me to ask for help. Thank you CSAH for your support. No Veteran left behind.
Thank you so much for always keeping us in your thoughts during the Thanksgiving Holiday. It means more than you can ever imagine. It is so very helpful for us. You do such amazing things. 🥰

Today is ALIVE DAY for my friend Rudy Gallego! Among other injuries, Rudy lost both of his legs in Vietnam 49 years ago today. He told me yesterday that his family doesn't understand why he would commemorate the day he was injured. They had never heard it termed "Alive Day". It is 100% something to celebrate!🎉 Happy Alive Day Rudy, and thank you for your service to our country, and your continued service to your community. 🇺🇸

Rebuilding lives. Restoring hope. CFC# 12523 The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes (CSAH) helps severely wounded and disabled Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans and their families rebuild their shattered lives, through emergency financial aid and an array of support programs and key partnerships.

Restoring hope to a wounded hero can take a lifetime. Rebuilding his or her life takes a commitment from all of us. You can help do both by making a direct tax-deductible contribution, an in-kind donation or by volunteering your time. If we work together, we can succeed in our mission, and the men and women who were heroes on the battlefield can return home as heroes to their families and communities.

Mission: The mission of the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes is to help severely-wounded veterans and families of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom recover from their injuries and illnesses, and to inspire other organizations and the general public to participate in this effort. Through our programs of aid and assistance, the Coalition offers individual contributors, corporations and volunteers many ways to give so these veterans and their families receive what they need and deserve in return for the sacrifices they made for us.

Letter: David W, Walker, Coalition to Salute America's Heroes - Loudoun Now

“Each generation has its own burdens to bear. This one is ours.” -Letter by Coalition President & CEO, David Walker published today by Loudoun Now. #NeverForget #SaluteHeroes Read here: Editor: After the Japanese attached Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt said it was a date

We Remember

September 11th, 2001- The reason many of our nation’s post 9/11 veterans signed up to serve. #SaluteHeroes #NeverForget

We will never forget the lives lost on 9/11/01 or those who’ve served and sacrificed for our country to defend their honor. #SaluteHeroes #NeverForget

[09/10/20]   Did you know that if you text "Home" to 741741 when you are feeling depressed, sad, or going through any kind of emotional crisis, a crisis worker will text you back immediately and continue to text with you? Many people, especially younger ones, prefer text to talking on the phone. It's a free service to anyone-- teens, adults, etc.-- who lives in the US. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #wspd

Two major causes of suicide amongst our veterans:
1.) finances
2.) marital problems

At the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, we provide emergency financial aid to severely wounded post 9/11 veterans in need. When they feel like they have nowhere to turn and sometimes thoughts of suicide are running rampant in their minds- we don’t just cover their overdue electric bill- We make sure they are able to get back on their feet financially, resulting in less suicidal ideations.

Another way to prevent #VeteranSuicide is to strengthen the relationships and bonds of those who support them. Strengthen marriages & families. It’s our duty as communities to make sure our veterans feel supported and know that there are people who are willing to #BeThere. Events like our marriage retreats can be a turning point for a veteran couple struggling with the effects of post-traumatic stress and severe injuries. Again, less suicidal thoughts.

Your support is vital. In order to #Stopthe20, we all have to get involved! Donate to the cause, Reach out to the heroes around your community, and put down the phones and have a real conversation. Help us #SaveLives.

‘GI Joe’ comic tackles the psychological burden of coming home from war

GI Joe has been around since 1982- many of you probably had one. Now, Hasbro with Marvel is tackling the issues many warriors face when they come home from war.

Very cool- such a unique way to tell our war fighters to get help before their friends attend their funeral and before they pass on their hurt to everyone else. Suicide isn't, and never has been the answer.

“You need to win your own war first” - GI Joe Commander, Conrad Hauser

#SaluteHeroes #GIJoe #BeThere #VeteranStrong The comic’s readers were quick to point out the realistic application of an issue confronted by so many military personnel.

While Hurricane Laura has caused devastation through parts of the country, families have been forced to leave their homes, and many are without food, water, and electricity.

Today, our Veteran Circle Program Manager is personally taking the time to reach out to all of our #veteran members in Laura's path who were impacted. We are here to help you rebuild because your well-being is our MISSION.

We are thinking of everyone who has been adversely effected by #HurricaneLaura and her aftermath.

The Coalition receives daily calls and applications from disabled servicemen and women facing financial crises.

After a severe injury, wounded veterans are not only having to rebuild a new way of life in so many unexpected ways, but their families are experiencing real hardships too.

“When my husband and I first got married while he was active duty in the United States Marine Corps the initial months were pure bliss. Then he got deployed, then when he returned home, he was different, and we began the journey of his healing. Along with that journey has been the evolution of our coping skills, specifically coping skills for stress.”

"If someone listens, or stretches out a hand, or whispers a word of encouragement, or attempts to understand a lonely person, extraordinary things begin to happen."
~Loretta Girzartis

Sometimes starting conversations can be the hardest part. When we focus on asking questions, we open the door for those around us to be vulnerable and to share their stories. Shift someone's life today by asking a simple question:

-What motivated you to join the military?
-Tell me a little about your time in boot camp.
-Where did you serve the majority of time in service?
-Tell me about some of the special people you met?
-What was the best and worst 'military' food you were served, and why?
-Tell me a funny story you experience that could only happen in the military.
-How does/did your military experience affect your life today?

A great testimonial from our Heroes Thanking Heroes team! 🇺🇸 #SaluteHeroes

#RebuildingLives #RestoringHope

"The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes is a huge blessing to me. I first attended a Road to Recovery Conference in San Diego in 2014 and this was a great tool to help with my reintegration into civilian life. It's also where I learned about the Heroes Thanking Heroes program that I am honored to be a part of to this day. Recently, I found myself in a place where I had fallen behind on my mortgage payments due to challenging circumstances. I was on the active foreclosure list and didn't know how much longer I had before I would be out on the streets. I was in full survival mode and barely keeping my head above water. The team at the Coalition, my family, and a close friend of mine helped me when I was feeling hopeless. When I received the e-mail from the Coalition notifying me my back mortgage was being covered in full, I was in utter disbelief, but yet filled with extreme gratitude to the Coalition and God for the fresh start I was given. It's because of the Coalition that today I am able to have a roof over my head and have hope for a brighter future for me and my pride and joy, my children."
