Another ~4,000 board feet of lumber out of the kiln after 3 months of drying. Ash, walnut, English walnut, white pine, quartersawn white oak and red oak.

Took out of the kiln yesterday about 100bf of 4/4 curly walnut. #curlywalnut

Cut up a beech log yesterday that had been left to sit for two years. The fungi did their job and created some great patterns. #spaltedbeech #spaltedlumber

Cutting 8/4 curly ambrosia maple slabs this past week. These slabs should be out of the kiln late fall of 2018.

Cutting spalted beech this past week. These 4/4 and 5/4 boards should be kiln-dried by late spring 2018.

These 8/4 crotch walnut slabs should come out of the kiln in May 2018.

These 20” diameter curly maple “cookies” are in the oven (kiln). They should be ready late February, early March.

Cutting some more 6/4 boxelder maple slabs today. They should be out of the kiln mid-autumn 2017.

Cutting 4/4 and 6/4 boxelder maple today. These slabs should be kiln-dried by mid-autumn 2017.

Cutting 8/4 Persimmon slabs the other day. This very hard wood is also known as white ebony and has been used for golf club heads, drum sticks, tool handles, and many other uses.

These 8/4 red cedar slabs were the last boards to go in most recent kiln load.

A few hundred board feet of 4/4 quartersawn white oak going into the kiln and should be ready March 2017.

I've got some crotch walnut slabs going into the kiln and should be dried by March 2017.

Cutting ambrosia maple this past week. The 4/4 through 8/4 boards and natural-edge slabs should be kiln-dried by early autumn of 2016.

I got a lot of nice 6/4 and 8/4 bookmathed sets out of two large ambrosia maple logs. They should be kiln-dried by summer of 2016.

I got a few 2'+ wide 8/4 cherry slabs from this log. They should be kiln-dried by summer2016.

Cutting a large crotched walnut log this past month. The 6/4 and 8/4 slabs should be out of the kiln by early summer 2016.

These and many more walnut slabs were taken out of the kiln this past week.

The 4/4, 5/4, and 6/4 boards of this 9' spalted ambrosia maple log should be kiln-dried by late Spring of 2015. The two 8/4 bookmatched sets should be kiln-dried sometime during the summer of 2015.

Rick Herbine's experience as a professional forester and award-winning woodworker helps him to select high quality logs which he rough cuts to maximize desired characteristics. Lumber is kiln-dried to below 9% moisture content. Air-dried lumber is also available. We are located in Lucketts, VA, about 8 miles north of Leesburg, VA, and 4 miles south of Point of Rocks, MD, just off Route 15.
