FEBRUARY IS AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH.

According to Wikipedia it is an annual observance in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. It began in 1925 as Negro History Week. The celebration was expanded to a month in 1976, the nation’s bicentennial. President Gerald R. Ford urged Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”

FEBRUARY IS AMERICAN HEART MONTH.
Traditionally it is the month for all things heart related, and reminds us to take care of our heart. The annual celebration began in 1963 to encourage Americans to join the battle against heart disease. The celebration pays tribute to researchers, physicians, public health professionals and volunteers for their tireless efforts in preventing, treating and researching heart disease, which is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S.

For many tips and ideas to better heart health, visit the American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org/
