Starting October 21, Dry Tortugas National Park is increasing visitor access and reopening the visitor center on Garden Key. COVID-19 mitigations in the small visitor center include one-way traffic flow, a socially distanced viewing area for the park film and reduced common touch surfaces. Visitors are reminded to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 mitigations.
The visitor center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and houses a bookstore managed by the park’s non-profit partner, the Florida National Parks Association. Gift store hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m.

🦀 Stone Crab season opens today! While it is legal to harvest both claws if they are the legal size (2 7/8 inches), it is common practice to leave the crab with one claw to feed and defend itself. This significantly improves the chances of the crab surviving to molt and regrow its claw. Maintaining high fishing standards like this will keep the stone crab a viable fishery for years to come!

BARS CAN OPEN MONDAY AT 50% CAPACITY
From the Key West Chamber of Commerce:
More than two months after shuttering bars statewide, Florida’s top business regulator announced via Twitter Thursday evening that taps will begin to flow again starting Monday, though bar seating will be capped at 50% capacity.
Halsey Beshears, secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, said the state will rescind Executive Order 20-09, which largely forced some standalone bars and breweries to shut down in late June.
Meanwhile, officials in Miami-Dade and Broward counties have indicated they may use local ordinance to keep bars closed.
