SUMMER SALUTE IS HERE!

Going LIVE in 15 minutes for an update and to provide some pre-Salute information. Tune in!

It's time for #HoptownSummerSalute! The 3rd annual festival begins TODAY in downtown Hopkinsville, so here are some things to remember:

1. Most of the festival is FREE! There is no cost for admission, concerts, Kids Zone or train rides. Again, it's free. Come enjoy it. Thank you, sponsors.

2. The only thing that will cost money is food, drinks, etc. from our nearly 90 vendors, all of whom will be open at 10 a.m. on both days (Friday and Saturday) downtown. The festival will end at 10 p.m. on both nights.

3. Live music will begin at Noon on both days, with the first five shows coming to you live from the secondary stage in the Founders Square/Farmers Market area.

4. The sixth and final concert of the weekend — country legends Sawyer Brown — will play from the "big stage" in front of the Hopkinsville Justice Center on Saturday night.

5. All concerts incorporate festival seating, so be sure to bring a chair, blanket or something comfy to sit on during the shows. Bleachers will be set up and under-cover seating WILL be available on a first-come, first-serve basis near the secondary stage.

6. Ninth Street and Bethel Street are where the heart of the action will be this weekend, so those roads will be closed. Plan accordingly when traveling around downtown.

7. Free street parking is available throughout downtown Hopkinsville. We are expecting a large crowd, so be prepared to walk several blocks, if necessary. There are plenty of spots, but just be patient while searching.

8. Most vendors do accept credit/debit cards, but come prepared with multiple payment options just in case. There is a chance some will only accept cash. That decision is on a vendor-by-vendor basis.

9. If you're coming from out of town and need/want to plug an address into your GPS to locate the festival, we recommend this one: 198 W. 9th Street, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.

10. Restrooms (port o' potties) will be on site, located near the Solly Office Supplies building and past the Kids Zone inflatable bouncer area down 9th Street. Handicap-accessible bathrooms are available.

11. Use #HoptownSummerSalute to tag your posts, photos, status updates, etc. on social media!

12. For more information during the festival, or to pick up a free vendor map, visit the Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation tent near the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library. Parks & Rec will also have 2017 Solar Eclipse items on sale for 50 percent off!

13. Have fun. Enjoy yourself. Be aware of your surroundings. Drink responsibly. Throw trash into trash cans. Dance, sing, laugh and make memories. We're glad to have you in Hoptown!

Our vendors rolled into town Thursday night and are getting set up to see you this weekend! They'll all be open at 10 a.m. Friday morning as the 3rd Annual Summer Salute Festival kicks off, so rest up tonight and get ready to be downtown in Hopkinsville tomorrow! #HoptownSummerSalute
