AsSalamualaikum and Ramadan Mubarak! Bismillah Rahmanir Raheem *A copy of the email I sent to [email protected] (just in case it gets lost in the shuffle, trying to cover all of my basis lol) May this email reach the entire Deen TV staff with Blessings, Peace, Safety and Security. My husband, daughter, and I are one of your biggest supporters from New York and appreciate what all of you bring to the table, including your wonderful nasheeds, charity and work. This Ramadan you created a show called 'Think About It', in which we absolutely respect, enjoy and look forward to! We would actually love and appreciate if 'Think About It' would extend Ramadan, as a show that aired once a week, but Insha'Allah, as I know everyone is busy and life happens by Allah's Will. You aired a show with Scholar Dr. Zainab Alwani earlier this week and Alhamdulillah for that airing! I am writing because I feel that the Muslim Sisterhood is in dire need of a female Scholar, in particular Dr. Alwani (or another) to speak on the beauty of hijab. There are too many young Sisters, whom I have witnessed, do not know the importance of wearing the hijab, wear it incorrectly (or if not at all) or may misinterpret Allah's command. I understand that some Muslim girls may find it difficult wearing the hijab in school, the workplace, in public etc. however, if someone took the time, (such as a Dr. Alwani) to teach the girls that through Allah's (swt) Wisdom, He made the hijab as our protection, that guards our beauty while making us a symbol! Our beautiful symbol is that we are a representation of ISLAM and PROUD OF IT! Deen TV (I think) are infamous for having teen summits or forums, where the youth are able to share their opinions, while learning something new or gaining a different perspective. For the most part, (I may be mistaken), you are from my era or age group, and may remember a show on BET called Teen Summit that aired in 1989 through the early 2000's. I feel that if your network held a week long summit, with a host on different topics about wearing the hijab, would be life changing, not only for the young adults, but also their parents. Self esteem starts in the home, but as the African proverb says, "it takes a village to raise a child" and your network has the perfect platform for our village, otherwise known as Our Ummah. I appreciate your time in this matter and May Allah forever keep you all in The Deen and Insha'Allah reward you a place in Jannah! Walaikum As Salam Sameena Miller
Think About It should extend its episodes after Ramadan InshaAllah! #VoteItUp
