Congrats to the Linn family!!!!

A ribbon cutting was held by the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and staff on Friday, November 13 for new Chamber member KGVE 99.3FM. KGVE has just recently been purchased from long-time owner Larry Hestand by Mark and Tanner Linn. KGVE is a 15-thousand-watt station bringing you some of the best country music in the four-state area. Tune in for weather every half hour, national and local news at the top of the hour and live broadcasts of the Grove RidgeRunners basketball and football during the fall and winter. You also won't want to miss Tradio every weekday morning at 9 a.m.

Attending the ribbon cutting were Chamber ambassadors from RE/MAX Grand Lake, AAA Business Systems and Grand Savings Bank. Also, in attendance were friends and family of the new owners.

Welcome to downtown and the radio biz Mark and Tanner!

Thank you for your service!!

Don't forget to turn those clocks back!!

Poppy says “Mask up”

Congrats to Ben Hampton! Well deserved.

The Bank of Grand Lake is entering a new era with one of its own being named president.

Ben Hampton follows his mentor, the late Gary Smith, as president after serving in various jobs at the bank for the past seven years. Smith served families and businesses for decades in Delaware County. He was known for being a gentleman and a good listener.

“What I learned from Gary is definitely patience,” Hampton said. “He had an incredible ability to build relationships with people. A lot of people were his customers for years. You don’t need a banker when things are good. You need a banker when things are bad.”

Hampton grew up in Grove and knew Smith through his grandparents and longtime customers, Clyde and Neva Buchanan and Kelly and Lona Hampton.

“When I came here, I saw the opportunity to learn from the best bankers in the market,” he said. “Ed Townsend and Gary Smith were there to pour into me their experience.”

Hampton came back home to Grove after graduating from the University of Oklahoma, where he played on one Big 12 championship team and in the national championship in 2009. He started at the bank in 2013 as a Consumer Lender and moved up in various roles with the most recent being Market President North Grand Lake before being named President on Aug. 31.

“We really have in my opinion the best banking staff in the area,” Hampton said. “Ed and Gary created such a great culture of work environment: Great employees who enjoy coming to work and doing an even better job that helps our customers. We are set up with the right staff to continue to grow in the Grand Lake market.”

People might be surprised how much Bank of Grand Lake has invested in technology for a bank its size. From new ways to transfer money online to helping business run more effectively, the bank offers customers more chances to make banking easier by using their mobile phone.

In addition to his job as president, Hampton will also be a member of the bank’s board. He is also a member of Rotary Club, a board member the Grove Education Foundation for Excellence and a member and deacon at Mount Hermon Church in Jay.

“One of the things I didn’t realize while growing up here is the sheer amount of giving that takes place here,” Hampton said. “It’s unbelievable. I’m honored being part of a bank with ownership that is leading the pack on charitable giving. I feel good knowing that my bank donates the amount that it does to different charities. That speaks to Ed and Barbara Townsend’s charitable and giving hearts.”

When Hampton reflects on his life and career, he acknowledges he was lucky to have so many people believing in him.

“I need to thank my family for loving me and supporting me from my wife, Cassie, to my parents, David and Kim Hampton,” Hampton said. “I am very thankful for Ed and Barbara Townsend for entrusting me with this responsibility.”

Please support our local businesses!

From the Parrot Family to our wonderful guest

We appreciate each and everyone of you and your loyalty to the Parrot during this unprecedented time. We've had so many challenges in the last few months that we've never faced in the past, and we want you to know that we are all in this together. Our team members are working diligently to offer you the best service and excellent food that you've come to expect from us,however we do understand that not everything is perfect at the Parrot. Each day we and our team face being understaffed, although we've continued to actively search for additional team members, finding additional team members during this time is challenging to say the least. Our team members that have stayed with us and the Parrot are away from their families more and more each day as many of them are working double shifts on a daily basis to make sure we are available to serve you our wonderful guest. The majority of you have been so understanding and WE APPRECIATE YOU! Our amazing team is here for you and we will continue to do our best for You. To those that have posted complaints ,(We are truly sorry that we failed to provide you with a quality experience),but could we ask that you help us during this time. Instead of criticizing us or Any local business, because again we are all in this together, we ask that you share our Job Openings with your friends, share with our team what was good about your experience or your favorite thing about us. Share something optimistic. We can assure you our team is here to make you and your experience the best ever, small words of encouragement, a smile, and a little grace will always make everyone's day brighter.
Thank You
Terry and Carolyn

Check out this new retail location in Grove!

Hello all! For those that I have not met, my husband and I purchased Reid and Stephanie Smith’s building in late March so thought I would give you a little bit of info on us and what we plan to do with the building.
We love the building but know very little about it. We mostly hear that it was a originally a drug store on the first floor and a brothel on the second floor. Does anyone know the name of the drug store? And if anyone has any pictures or information, I would love to hear from you!
Who we husband is a builder and I am a recently retired landscaper. We moved to Cleora in 2005 and love lake-living. We have twin girls that are leaving for college in the fall - so what a better time for a new adventure.
You have probably seen the changes on the exterior and there is more to come. We plan on refacing the columns as well as outlining the building with red brick and adding an awning. I included a rough sketch as to what it will look like upon completion.
On the first floor, Fired Up is going to jump over to Reid’s location as of July 1st and we will remodel Fired Up’s old space. My intentions are to have the space ready by late September or early October. But we all know how that goes - nothing is ever ready on time! I can say that because we are doing the work. 😅 I plan on opening The Butler’s Pantry. My main inventory will be kitchenware and gourmet foods but I will also carry entertaining and lake-living essentials...a sundry...a emporium...if you will. We will offer cooking classes, registries, bookclubs and hopefully wine tastings/pairings.
As for upstairs, the original plan included 11 offices with a 9 foot corridor. Three of the offices are already rented. We will be updating 5 of the offices and converting the remaining 3 into an apartment.
Also, we are new kids on the block so if you know of something that Grove does not have and would like for me to carry it in my store, please let me know. I am up for suggestions.
And last, apologies to my neighbors for the construction. We will be cleaned up soon! 😬

Such a wonderful, family owned, local business!

We are moving West! Here is the first look at Honey Creek Nursery’s new West Farm. Shade tree and shrub liners are scheduled to to plant here this Fall.
