Snow Hill Church was founded in 1918 so it is now over 100 years old. Founded on the principle of Holiness, we still maintain this same theology.
We are open to all persons, regardless of personal preference; however, we strictly maintain God's statutes
Operating as usual
[11/12/20] Our Snow Hill Church Family extends its deepest sympathy to the family of Sister Delora Reid who went to be with the Lord yesterday afternoon around 4:00. Services to be announced. Couey Reese Stanley has charge of the services.
Good Morning Snow Hill,
Our message for Sunday, November 15, will be: "I Am Thankful...God Is...Longsuffering.
The host of things we are “thankful” for is as broad as the imagination can conceive. From the waking in to the morning light to the closing of our eyes in sleep there is always something to be thankful for. I am convinced that we are sometimes caught up in our need to bring our supplications before the Lord and fail to give the proper thanks for the things he has already provided…and even the things we know he will provide in our future.
Longsuffering may well be my favorite word in the Bible. The word “Longsuffering” means: To have patience under great duress.” And, it addresses itself at the very depths of the soul.
Not only is “longsuffering” an excellent attribute of God…Longsuffering is also a gift of God to all those who believe. Longsuffering is a good work in the life of the believer because it gives us the grace to endure those tough times when it seems nothing else is sufficient.
Each one this morning has been (or is) the beneficiary of God’s “longsuffering.” God has either waited on us…suffering under the duress of the essential condemnation of our sin. Or he has had to blot names from the “Lambs Book of Life” for they have chosen to reject him. From Numbers 14: 18 – “The Lord is longsuffering, and is of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty…”
Please plan to be with us Sunday morning at 11:00 as we continue to think on this great attribute of "Longsuffering."
Good Morning Snow Hill Friends,
Today is Veterans Day and I would like to say THANK YOU to all those who have served. Some served and were forgotten...some served and were in a war prison....some served and made the ultimate sacrifice and some served and were ridiculed. Yet, we all live in freedom and liberty for the great sacrifices made to keep our nation free from tyranny and oppression. May God richly bless all of our Veterans and their families.
Good Morning Snow Hill,
Our sermon for this week is: "God Is...A Fact...Not Just A Feeling.
At this time of year, many will take an opportunity to speak of something they are thankful each day of the month. That’s nice to see for it brings us in line with how Jesus teaches us to be humble…to be meek…to acknowledge the gifts of God and to give to shower our Lord with praise and thanksgiving.
To begin this thought let's think about a couple of things. How many would say this morning that there are times when it seems as though God is a million miles away? How many would say why do I not always feel the prodding of the Holy Spirit?
These are really good questions. And they deserve a good answer. One which will put our spirit at rest in the knowledge that: “God Is A Fact…Not A Feeling!
First and foremost in considering this is: We believe in the Bible. We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe in the infinite power of the Almighty God of Creation. We believe and there is no doubt whatsoever.
I could go on and on but please plan to join us Sunday morning at 11:00 as we look at this area of thankfulness. I am thankful that God Is...A Fact...Not Just A Feeling.
Good Evening Snow Hill
Tonight, it is with a sad heart that I must inform each one that we have found it necessary to cancel Family, Friend, and Founder's Day 2020.
We were contacted this afternoon by The Diplomats. Three of the members of their group have contracted the COVID-19 virus and they will not be able to perform Sunday. Brother Ben has spent the rest of the afternoon and evening trying to contact another group to sing for us and has yet to find anyone. Either they are already booked or they are not singing at all in fear of the virus.
At our Wednesday evening service tonight, I announced that we would cancel the event for this year and reschedule for the second Sunday in April, 2021. We have CANCELLED THE MEAL AS WELL.
We will return to our regular schedule of services Sunday morning with Sunday School at 10:00 and Worship at 11:00.
Thank your for your understanding.
God Bless You All.
OKAY Snow Hill Friends,
This is my last post for this morning.
When we check our calendar, we see that Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend. That means we need to set our clocks back one hour when we go to bed on Saturday evening so we won't wake up an hour early on Sunday morning.
Now, if you would like to come to church an hour early, I'm sure God won't mind. You could even get in some extra prayer time.
But, we do look forward to seeing you for Family, Friend, and Founder's Day at 10: 30.
Good Morning Again Snow Hill Friends,
I am super excited about our annual Family, Friend, and Founder's Day event this year. After having to put this off in April because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are blessed with a safe facility, no virus among us, and the special blessings which the Lord has bestowed upon us.
This year we will begin at 10:30 AM on November 1, with "The Diplomats" singing for us. Our normal Sunday morning message will be "A Pure Heart" and will begin at around 11:15. Then, we will have a meal in our Fellowship Hall immediately after worship.
You are all invited and we hope you will attend. If you
plan to attend, please bring a dish to share with our company.
God Bless You. See you all on Sunday!
Good Morning Snow Hill,
Our message for Sunday, November 1, will be: "A Pure Heart."
As we gather on this special Sunday to celebrate our annual Family, Friend, and Founder's Day event it is appropriate that I share a message which surrounds the love of friends.
It is heart breaking to encounter those who are “family” …those who have been raised together… even under the same roof with the same parents who either cannot or will not share a close comradery with their siblings.
So, what is the problem? King Solomon wrote of this with a succinct thought. He spoke directly to this issue in Proverbs 18: 24: “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
Certainly, we can apply this text also to our Lord Jesus. The friend who knows all of our good as well as our short comings and still loves us, forgives us, encourages us, shows us grace and mercy…and is with us until the end.
But on this special Sunday, we will join in a common spirit of God’s blessings through the “gospel” message of Jesus Christ. We will be together because of:
1) Our love for Jesus.
2) Our love for one another.
Please plan to join us for this special day. We will begin on this Sunday at 10:30 am with The Diplomats singing for us, we will have our worship service at 11:15, and we will have a meal immediately following worship.
Please put this on your calendar and plan to join us. Everyone is welcome!
Good Morning Snow Hill,
I have some exciting news for you this morning.
Brother Ben has won the contest for Christian Voice Magazine's Horizon Male Vocalist of The Year. It was announced this morning.
Aren't we proud to have Ben as a part of our team at Snow Hill?
Good Afternoon Snow Hill Friends,
Our sermon for Sunday, October 25 will be: "God's Values."
As we approach the final days before we…the Christians of the nation…the largest voting block in the United States of America…before we make a decision and approach our responsibility…our liability…our stand for right and wrong; God has placed this message on my heart. I believe it is designed to awaken our spirit in the justification of God’s values for a righteous nation.
There are two forces at work in the world, these forces being at the very heart of the survival of our great nation…the nation which God has planted his people in…the nation of liberty and freedom…the nation who not only had the right to stand high on the pinnacle of God but continues to stand on this the peak of praise and worship of the only True and Living God of Creation in all of the world.
I would that all would consider the things of God as we prepare to make a decision on the next leader of the free world.
Jesus summed it up quite well in the book of John, chapter 10, verse 10. He said: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy… I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Now, let me make a rather bold statement: America, the land which God has established as the premiere nation of the world…can certainly be declared to be the LAST stronghold of Christian faith in the world.
Please plan to join us Sunday morning at 11:00 as we look at some of the values of a committed Christian which God has given us.
Hey Snow Hill,
Our sermon for October 18, will be: :A Roaring Lion.
"A Roaring Lion" is how the Apostles Peter and Paul describe the work of Satan. It is not only how he attacks us in our personal lives but it is how he will and does attack the nation.
Ephesians 6: 12 Paul writes: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
From 1 Peter 5: 8, the Apostle Peter writes: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour
If we will only look around at the enormous blessings which God has given to this nation we call America (the land of the free and the home of the brave) we will know in our spirit that we are special to God. In fact, we are his children, he is our Heavenly Father, as such he has vowed to watch over us and protect us.
Still, we live in a fallen world and the effects of that are evident all around.
I have promised to deliver a series of messages over the month of October…leading up to our National Election on November 3. It is necessary…it is imperative… that we…the Christians of the United States of America…be in much prayer for God to reveal his will in this…the election which will guide his people for the next four years.
An election which I am convinced will determine our state of freedom…our state of worship…our state of prosperity…the fruit of our land…and the liberty which God has afforded us.
So, what do we do with this "Roaring Lion?" Please plan to join us Sunday morning at 11:00 as we unlock some thoughts about what this "Roaring Lion" means.
Hey Snow Hill Friends,
Just a post to remind you that Sunday is "Pastor Appreciation Sunday" at Snow Hill. There will be as special time of recognition of our Pastors in the morning as well as a meal immediately following our worship service. Please plan to stay and have a meal with your Pastors.
Also: THERE WILL BE NO SUNDAY EVENING SERVICE THIS WEEK.
God bless you all.
Again, Good Morning Snow Hill Friends,
Each week, I write "a note from our pastor" for the front cover of our bulletin. This week, I would like to share what I have written for those who may not be able to attend and see in in the actual bulletin.
a note from our pastor...
I have often heard people to say there is a provision for the complete separation of Church and State. However, in reading the Constitution, I can find no provision which causes the Christian community to be addressed separately. What the Constitution does say is: “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
Let’s look at it like this: The Church is comprised of a body of believers, those believers, who are U.S. Citizens, have a right (and a duty) to vote in each election. Therefore, as the body of Christ in a Christian nation, we represent the largest collective group of voters in the nation.
With all that said; and, with a heart to make things “right” in our nation, there will be an election for the President of the United States on November 3, 2020, and ALL Christians need to vote.
I’m not saying who to vote for but I am saying ALL Christians should show up at the polls and vote for the person God would vote for.
One cannot call themselves a Christian and vote for one whose platform is in direct opposition (abortion, same sex marriage, violation of the established Amendments, etc.) to God’s commandments.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO VOTE! OUR NATION, OUR LIBERTY, AND OUR MORAL FIBER DEPEND ON IT!!
Good Morning Snow Hill,
The title of our message for Sunday, October 11, will be: "The Rat!"
I really do hate always be talking about the evil and wickedness of the world, and our society in particular, but it seems that's where the most controversy is found.
I don’t see there is any need for me to expound on the evil surrounding us for you can see it on every corner.
We only need to take a look beyond the safety of our life and harbor of protection we have afforded ourselves to see all of the evil which is becoming more than just a passing fad.
Every day, evil becomes more prevalent. To the point that it is dominating our society.
It’s like “The Rats” that invade our space. They are lurking all around us. They slip into the smallest of places…our eyes…our minds…in the cupboards of our souls…seeking what they may destroy…and the horror of it all this is we don’t even notice they are there until the damage is done. Does this call your mind anything? The damage is done and…the repair is extensive; but it can be repaired.
Please plan to join us Sunday morning at 11:00 as we take a look at how to "trap The RAT" and destroy "The Rat!"
Hey Snow Hill,
I would like to share my heart with you. It is not my intention to offend anyone but: Your church at Snow Hill is open for worship on a full schedule. Sunday morning we are having Sunday School and a full worship service. Sunday evenings we are having our "Kids" program and our "Youth" program; also, with a worship service. On Wednesday evenings, we are having our regularly scheduled service.
Your church is cleaned each week and disinfected as well. It is safe to attend and we have mask and sanitizer available for you if you choose to need one or both.
Please let me assure you: YOU ARE MISSED. YOUR SPOT IS VACANT AND WE (I) WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU IN IT. YOU ARE LOVED AND WE MISS YOUR LOVE AS WELL.
Now, I don't want to pressure anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending corporate worship. If you are sick or if you do not feel that you should venture out yet, I understand.
But, I love you all and when you're not here, I miss you.
God Bless You!
Good Evening Snow Hill,
I'm a little late with my post this week but I would like to share a few thoughts from my sermon on Sunday, October 4. The sermon title will be: "The Praise Of Men?"
There is a saying going around. It goes like this: I would rather live like there is a God and die and find out there isn’t than to live like there is no God and die and find out there is!
Now, I would like to modify that thought slightly: I would rather believe I live in the praises and blessings of the Almighty God and die to find there is no God…than to live for the praises and commendation of man and die to fine there is a God.
If you will notice, I have placed a question mark at the end of this title. I have done this for a specific reason and to clarify this reasoning, let me ask a question. Is it the praises of man that we seek and live for…or is it the praises and blessings of God that we seek? Now, also, notice I have added the word “blessings” to the second part of this question. Why, well, it’s simply because man cannot give blessings into the life of another man.
Even God, will not surrender his blessings into the life of those who do not surrender to his plan for the salvation of the soul. That is of those which God addresses as “sinners.”
Let’s take a look at the book of John, chapter 9, verse 31: “Now we know that God heareth not sinners; but if any man be a worshiper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Jesus did not seek the pity of man…he did not seek the forgiveness of man…he did not seek the accolades of praise from men…he did not seek to surrender his ministry to man. He only sought the presence and the will of the Heavenly Father.
I think we could all benefit from searching our souls for the One who deserves our praise, our prayers, and our commitment.
Please plan to join us Sunday morning at 11:00 as we see what Jesus says about "The Praise Of Man."
Tempted and Tried Sunday morning worship 9/27/2020
Good Afternoon Snow Hill,
Our sermon for Sunday, September 27, will be: "Tempted and Tried."
The Christian Faith and Commitment is the greatest of all the beliefs mankind can conclude. There are many things in our lives which we have come to know and believe to be true. Faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior, Redeemer, Lord, and King is the greatest of all.
However, there is a world which surrounds us which is the product of the “Prince of This World” whose name is Lucifer (Satan or the Devil if you prefer). His goal is to confuse us, to deceive us, to delay us, to tempt us and to eventually lead us into an eternal death.
It is clearly understood that, while we continue to live in Satan’s world, we will be “Tempted and Tried” through his many temptations and the various deceptions he has used to claim the souls of men throughout the ages.
When I think of this idea that we are all “Tempted and Tried” through the many trials and temptations which Satan has prepared for each of us, I am reminded that our Lord Jesus also faced the same host of sin.
However, please do not consider temptation to be sin…for if it was then Jesus would have sinned on the Mount of Temptation when Satan attempted to sway him from this divine righteousness.
Please plan to join us on Sunday morning at 11:00 as we discuss the temptations we face and the promise of God to help us defeat them.
