I'm church hopping around the district this morning. So grateful to be able to "visit" more churches today than I could on a regular Sunday and to see and hear the joys and concerns of the people. Even as we pray in this crisis, let us also live into the opportunities it presents us to be ONE!

Baltimore Metropolitan District's cover photo

[05/31/20]   Good Morning Baltimore Metropolitan District. It’s Pentecost Sunday. This is a Pentecost perhaps like no other... at least in my lifetime. It’s Pentecost in a pandemic. It’s Pentecost in protest across the nation. It’s Pentecost with fires burning in the streets and in the hearts of God’s people. It’s Pentecost with the wind of the Spirit blowing amidst the breeze of tears and tear gas. But make no mistake, it’s still Pentecost and the Spirit is still with us, giving us power to pray, preach, and proclaim the works of righteousness and justice. Today, may the same Spirit that released tongues of fire over 2000 years ago be with every preacher, giving you courage and power to speak truth in the name of Jesus. May the same Spirit that opened Peter’s mouth to address the crowd, likewise open your mouths to address congregations spread across the virtual landscape. May that Spirit compell and equip you to call out lies, injustice, and murder. Acts 2:14 says, “Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.” Then he proclaimed the events that had taken place and the prophecy that had and would be fulfilled. Like Peter, may you be full of the Spirit’s power of proclamation. Like Peter, don’t stop at Calvary, but tell the people how death can’t maintain its hold; tell them about the promise, tell them about the power. “And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:47.

Good morning people of God on this Pentecost Sunday! We pray that your worship experience is lit 🔥. See below for worship details and don’t forget to scroll down for to see more worship opportunities. Blessings!

My Worship Is For Real by Bishop Larry D. Trotter and Sweet Holy Spirit Combined Choirs

Good Morning Baltimore Metropolitan District! Blessings to you as you worship virtually this day. Before the age of technology, the default definition of “virtual” was more in keeping with the way Miriam Webster defines it, that is “being such in essence or effect though not formally recognized or admitted.” So today as you engage in virtual worship, be encouraged that your singing and praying and reading of scripture and giving and preaching and praising...even your muted amens and hallelujahs...are true worship. Your safe and sacrificial worship is essential in its purest sense. It is the essence of what pleases and magnifies God, no matter where it takes place. Worship is not diminished by location, whether or not it is formally recognized or admitted by traditional norms. When Jesus taught a lesson in worship to a Samaritan woman, he challenged her view of worship as something the ancestors did at the temple and pointed her to the essence of worship which is this: “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) So today may your worship be authentic, true, inspired and virtual in that it captures the essence of God’s presence which is with you and everywhere! Our virtual worship is for real!!! https://youtu.be/ChupmceWgpk
