Hello everyone! I wanted to take a moment to invite you, your youth, and anyone else you would want to bring to our 2nd annual Salt ’n Light Youth Ministries (SNL) Worship Night. SNL is an AMAZING youth ministry out of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. They lead amazing times of worship which include great music, meaningful dramas, and relevant teaching. This year, SNL will be with us at Community UMC in Crofton (1690 Riedel Rd, Crofton) on the evening of July 6 from 630-830 PM. We’d love to have you join us! And though this is geared a bit toward youth and young adults, we find that our older adults enjoy it just as much! If you have questions, or are interested in attending, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 267-368-0861. Grace & peace, Pastor Hilary
If you are heading to Wilmington, NC for school, we would love to meet you!

ROCK | Baltimore-Washington Conference UMC

HI everyone, I hope you stayed safe through the storm!

ROCK meeting will begin at 10AM on Saturday. If you are interested in being a part of CCYM and/or being a youth rep to Annual Conference, that meeting will start at 9AM on Saturday. Both will be held at the BWC, 11711 East Market Pl, Fulton. We'll go to lunch after at Ledo.

WEATHER - In case the weather is stupid on Saturday, we will send out an email by 7AM to cancel. The forecast isn't too promising right now, but things change. So, for now, we're planning on having the meetings. BUT your safety is important so if you feel unsafe driving in whatever weather there is going on, please stay home. We're a big conference so just because it's lovely somewhere it might be horrible somewhere else.

Registration for ROCK is still open at www.bwcumc.org/ROCK If you know of a church that has not registered yet, please encourage them to do so asap!

Thank you all so much!

Wintry blessings, Becki

[02/05/18]   Hello! CCYM meeting on February 10th, 9am-10am Executive Team and 10am to noon regular CCYM meeting.
Hope to see you there!

They made it home. !

We are all home!
Finally, earlier this evening all the MOPers returned home to be with their families. For some, it’s been a long day. With every flight being cancelled last night and those who were traveling by car stranded in Buffalo, our adventure continued a little longer than expected. As much as we all wanted to be home, we all enjoyed being together for one extra night. Flexibility, change and patience, three words we will never forget. It was a beautiful trip to a beautiful country.
On behalf of the adults who traveled with these young people, Heather, Mary, Ted and myself, we want to thank you for sharing them with us. They were a phenomenal group of individuals who came together to form a MOP family. You should be proud of each of them as they all have special gifts.
Enjoy listening to their stories and sharing in some of their adventures.
Shalom, Tom

Pray for safe travels for our group returning from the Mission of Peace in Cuba.

[01/03/18]   Happy New Year CCYM friends. Since our President, Vice President and Secretary are in Cuba for the Mission of Peace, we will not have a CCYM meeting on Saturday, January 13th. See you at the February meeting on February 10th.

UPDATE ON MISSION OF PEACE TO CUBA

Good morning! This email was written last night. I am on a street corner in Jovellanos for a few minutes.

It’s Tuesday evening and we have returned from Havana. It’s about a 2 hour ride each way from where we are staying. On the way there this morning we stopped at a beautiful overlook between the provinces of Matanzas and . The overlook looks across a wide and deep valley that has a large bridge that spans the gorge. It was beautiful as you could see the sea to the North and mountains to the south. We all got a few pictures before continuing on our journey. When we arrived, we walked through the old city seeing many of the sites. A lot of the streets are still cobblestone while others are paved. There were 4 squares we walked through on our travels. We saw where Hemingway had a room and other places he frequented. We were amazed at the bright colors of the buildings even though they are old. We learned a lot about the history of Havana and Cuba from Melissa who is our guide for our stay here. After lunch we visited the modern side of Havana where we saw Revolution Plaza and tributes to those who were instrumental in the revolution on 1959. After that, we visited the National Hotel. It is a beautiful old hotel that we toured a little. While there, we walked down to an area of tunnels that were used for the 1962 Cuban missal crisis. It was very interesting seeing displays and hearing a tour guide talk about it from the Cuban perspective. On the way home we made a quick stop for ice cream and returned by 7:30 for dinner. After dinner the group broke into family groups to discuss their day.
Tomorrow we will have time to play with some handicapped children in the morning, visit with a retired Methodist pastor who lived through the tough times when being a pastor was illegal. After lunch we will collect food stuffs to get meals ready for needy individuals.
We hope everyone at home is doing well. When possible, I will put some pictures on the NEJ Mission Of Peace page.
Shalom from all of us.
Tom

Update from the Mission of Peace in Cuba!

It’s Tuesday in Cuba!
We had a wonderful and relaxing day yesterday as we spent most of our day on the beach. The sand was soft and the water was warm. We spent most of the day in the water playing games soaking up the sun. We did think of all of you at home in the cold. We wish you could be with us here. In the evening we did one of our Mission Of Peace worship services and then went into family groups. After that we played some cards or games and called it night.
We are traveling to Havana this morning along the coast seeing the ocean. We are visiting the old city today and we are there now. It is rich in history and beauty. I will send more on this in the next email.
I will put pictures when possible on the page called NEJ Mission Of Peace.
Until next time.
Tom
