2017 Veterans Day Parade at Chaffee Crossing in Fort Smith, Arkansas

Earlier this year we lost one of our pipers to cancer, Jeremy Lynch. Jeremy passed away on May 22, 2017, at the age of 40. He worked at the Fort Smith National Historic Site and made his living doing what he loved best, sharing history with others. He had a loving wife (Sue), friends, and family. Every time I pick up my pipes I will always remember his enthusiasm, his wit, and his joy. He blessed us every year with the absolute best "Toast to the Haggis" there ever was, during our annual Burns Night Supper. Jeremy, our brother, you will never be forgotten.

[06/13/16]   2015 St. Patrick's Day Parade was the last one the Fort Smith Fire Department will organize. The Pipe Band is planning on playing in most parades that will have us but we just won't be responsible for organizing any of them. The St. Patrick's Day parade was supposed to be temporary anyway. Thanks for all of the support.

[03/12/16]   Want to thank everyone for coming out and participating in the parade. It was very successful.

[03/12/16]   Parade starts tomorrow at 3:00pm. RAIN or SHINE.
There will be a parade even if it's just vehicle traveling down Garrison. Have fun.

[02/25/16]   This years parade is growing by the minute. Be sure to spread the word. I will be getting in touch with those who have entered the parade with staging information first week of March.

Please open the form below and fill an entry for your group. The parade will begin at 3:00 on March 12th, 2016 in Downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas.

[03/14/15]   I want to thank everyone who came out in support of the 2015 St. Patrick's Day Parade this afternoon. We didn't melt and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. If you have photos please post them here, thanks again.

[03/14/15]   The parade will go on as scheduled today. Bring an umbrella just in case and have fun. The firefighters will be there rain or shine.

[03/13/15]   There is a small chance of rain Saturday afternoon but there are no plans on canceling the St. Patrick's Day Parade because of weather. We are leaving it up to the participants to decide whether or not they want to chance the weather. The Fire Department will be there rain or shine. Bring an umbrella just in case.

[03/07/15]   I have been asked if people in the parade can hand out literature or throw candy. I asked FSPD and this is the reply I received from Captain Kirk Redwine. "People are allowed to walk alongside the route and hand things to spectators, but not able to toss things from the moving vehicles or floats." Therefore, you can hand out literature and candy, you just can't throw it out to the crowd. Hope this is helpful.

[03/07/15]   The deadline to register a group or float is March 12th. We will have an EZ-Up tent set up on N. A Street the day of the parade. We will let entries know via E-mail where the tent will be located. Since the parade starts at 3:00pm anyone participating in the parade will need to have a member of their group check in at our tent between 1:30pm and 2:30pm the day of the event.

[03/01/15]   Tell your friends to come to our page and register a float or a walking group. We are hoping for a sunny day on March 14th. Hopefully the weather we have had this last week will be a distant memory. Be safe and come out to the parade.

We have been informed that our parade cannot travel down to N. 6th street, due to PD manpower. Instead the parade will now turn north onto N 7th off of Garrison Ave. instead.
