Over the past three days, the Fort Smith Police Department has received a total of 18 vehicle breaking-and-entering reports. Our Criminal Investigation Division has been following up with all available leads. The ID unit processed some of the vehicles for potential evidence. Latent prints were developed and lifted from at least one vehicle.

In response, Patrol Officers increased patrols in the affected areas near Dodson Avenue. In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 9, they were able to arrest three juvenile suspects. During questioning by CID, the juveniles admitted to 20 vehicle B&Es. The investigation is still ongoing at this time, and we encourage anyone with further information to contact our Detectives at 479-709-5116.

One final note: many of the vehicles involved in these B&Es were not cases of forced entry. The individuals entered simply by trying locks and taking what they could find. Please be aware of this and make sure to lock your car and take any valuables with you. Thank you to our community for your patience as we’ve worked to resolve these cases. Stay safe, everyone! #9PMRoutine
