Fort Smith Transit provides public transportation (fixed routes and demand response/paratransit servicew) within the city limits of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Fort Smith Transit (FST) is a department of the City of Fort Smith. FST provides public transportation to the general public within the city limits of Fort Smith. Fares are $1.25 per trip for fixed route and $2.50 for Paratransit/Demand Response service within the fixed route hours. Para/Demand service outside fixed route hours and on holidays is $3.00 per trip. Transfers are free and the downtown shuttle service is free.

Mission: To provide safe, efficient, affordable, prompt, friendly, professional and clean public transportation to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

[06/24/19]   Independence Day Holiday Schedule. There will be no regular transit service next Thursday, July 4th. Downtown shuttles will be provided starting at 6:00 p.m. for the Mayor's 4th of July Celebration. All parking lots downtown will be covered.

There will be a FREE RIDE DAY on Friday, July 5th.

[05/28/19]   FST is running full service at this time. Tuesday 5/28 8:00am.

[05/28/19]   FST will run our regular fixed routes with possible deviations due to flooded areas. There may be slight delays due to flooded areas and traffic. You may call dispatch at 783-6464 if you have any further questions.

[05/28/19]   Due to the flooding, Fort Smith Transit will run limited service on Tuesday until such time roads can be evaluated along fixed routes. We will keep you posted regarding service changes.

[05/23/19]   Memorial Day is fast Monday, May 27th. Transit service will operate demand response service only. No fixed routes.

THE NEXT FREE RIDE DAY is the day after Memorial Day, Tuesday the 28th.

[05/22/19]   The Transit Commission's quarterly meeting originally scheduled for next Wednesday, May 29th has been cancelled. The next meeting of the commission will be announced at a later date.

The Steel Horse Rally is coming up this weekend. This map shows how the affected routes will leave and enter the transfer station on Friday and Saturday, as well as the times the alternate routes will take place. Please contact our dispatch office at 479-783-6464 with any questions.

[04/15/19]   Get ready everyone. There's a free ride day coming up this Thursday, April 18th. All rides are free!

FST receives prestigious 2019 Transit System of the Year award from Federal Transit Administration Region 6 encompassing transit systems in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. The award was presented yesterday at the Southwest Transit Association Annual Conference in El Paso, TX.

Another transit shelter goes up at the Senior Center on Cavanaugh Road....NICE!

[02/11/19]   There will be a Transit Advisory Commission meeting this week on Wednesday, Feb. 13th at 12 noon at the transit offices at 6821 Jenny Lind. All passengers that wish to attend can ride to and from the meeting for free.

Transit schedule for the New Year's Day holiday is an easy one to service (fixed route or demand) next Tuesday, January 1st. See below the holiday schedule for the full year of 2019. We hope everyone has a wonderful New Year and may 2019 be the best ever.

[12/21/18]   There will be limited demand response service on CHRISTMAS EVE (Monday) and no fixed routes.
On CHRISTMAS DAY (Tuesday) all transit services will be closed.

Free ride day coming up everyone. This Friday (12/21/18) Hanna Oil and Gas employees will be sponsoring everyone's ride. Enjoy the ride and thank Hanna Oil and Gas.

[11/19/18]   This Saturday (11/24/18) be on the lookout for members of the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church. They may have some goodies for passengers at the transfer station. Rumor also has it that they will be handing out a number of free tickets. Thank you Saint James M.B. Church for loving your community well!!!

[11/16/18]   Can you believe next week is already Thanksgiving? Transit will not operate on Thursday, Nov. 22nd. On Friday, November 23rd, service will be limited to demand response only. Demand fare will be $3.00 per trip all day. To schedule rides for Friday, please do so by noon November 21st. Have a Great Thanksgiving Everyone!

[11/02/18]   FS Transit free ride day coming up. Make plans for next Tuesday, November 6th, ride free all day long.

A big thank you to First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith for the local contribution to assist with Transit amenities. The Transit department plans to use the donated funds to leverage federal grants to purchase bus stop shelters, bike racks and to fund a pilot project for painted artwork on the bus stop shelters.

[08/29/18]   There's another holiday coming up on Monday 9/3/18 (Labor Day). There will be no fixed route service on Labor Day; however, demand response service will operate all day, so schedule your Monday trips by noon Friday 8/31/18. Have a great holiday.

The Transit Commission approved the new route changes at their meeting last week. The changes are expected to begin MONDAY, OCTOBER 1ST. Below is a link to the new route map. Please call our offices 479-783-6464 if you have any questions. City of Fort Smith, Arkansas

[08/15/18]   Transit Commission meets today at noon. The commission will likely finalize the route change approval process and set a start date. We'll keep you posted.

Our very own Rafael Guerra has moved up in the ranks and became State Trooper Guerra. Even though he doesn't work for FST any more, he'll always be a part of our family. We are so proud of his accomplishments. Congratulations Trooper Guerra!!!

No Transit Service on Wednesday, July 4th
Shuttle buses will be available downtown for the Mayor's 4th of July celebration starting at 6pm until it ends.


[05/22/18]   Memorial Day, Monday May 28th, transit will operate only demand response service ($3.00 fare). Scheduling will end at noon on Friday, May 25th so schedule as early as possible. There will be no fixed routes operating on Memorial Day.

TAKE NOTE - Tuesday, May 29th is a FREE RIDE DAY.

Fort Smith Transit is accepting public comments regarding possible changes to the fixed routes until July 2, 2018. Details and a map are included in this posting. [12/06/17]   FST just went through the "lost and found" from the last few years and there are a LOT of important personal items such as wallets and phones (including driver's licenses, credit cards, social security cards, etc). We've tried to contact individuals but many are not claimed. Please call us if you think you might have lost anything on our buses or at the transfer station.
