[03/19/19] March heralds the start of the lawn care year but due to the wonderful late February weather you can get lulled into a false sense of security. So, please take note, it may too early for some jobs but you can make a start with aeration and annual pruning. If you have compacted high traffic turf now is a great time for aeration. Call us today 479-420-7219
[03/07/19] As spring comes closer, gardeners are anxious to get outside. And for many of us, spring is the time to start working on our lawns. There are a few tasks to do in March but don’t get overly anxious, especially not with fertilizer. Spring is a perfect time to perform a soil test, including separate ones for your back and front lawn. This should be done about every 3 years — prior to adding any supplements for the season. Call today to get your soil -tested! 479-420-7219
[03/06/19] Azalea Tip―As this Southern classic comes into bloom, be sure to mark the color of each plant if you haven’t planted them by color. For maximum impact, group azaleas in masses of one color or in layers of color. It is okay to move them while they are blooming. But if you wait until they finish, they can be rearranged, pruned, and shaped for a better show next year.
March Do List:
Lawn Lime―As warm-season turf begins to green up in your area, it’s time to think about liming your grass. If your soil is acid, you need to do this every couple of years. The best way to tell if you need lime is with a soil test, which will let you know exactly how much to apply. But if you’re not able to get your soil tested, use the general guideline of 15 to 20 pounds of lime per 100 square feet of lawn area. Pelletized lime is less messy and easier to apply than the white-powdered kind. Call 479-420-7219 for a Lime treatment today!
Early Spring Turfgrass Tips:
Don't apply fertilizer to warm-season lawns just yet. Wait until after green-up in spring.
Lawn Mower Tune-Up: Sharpen the blades, check the spark plug, clean the air filter, and check the oil and gas now so your mower is ready when you need it. If your mower does not start just hire Yard Works! =)
Pre-emergent herbicide: It's almost too late to apply pre-emergent herbicide to prevent summer weeds. Time to focus on post-emergents now.
Post-emergent Broadleaf Herbicide for dormant well-established lawns (Bermuda, Zoysia, Fescue): Apply Patriot post-emergent herbicide for control of broadleaf weeds that have emerged. This can be bought at Keeling or a local Coop,,, or we can come and take care if it for you! Call me if you have any questions! 479-420-7219
