There's a generation across the earth who are being awakened to real love and who are starting to walk in it. Rising up with hearts as one; our value nailed to a cross that we would find value in the broken and the hurting and the lost.
Mission: We join with BCMs across the state in Exalting God through ….growing in Christ ….connecting to His Church, and ….serving His world
Operating as usual
After last week’s success, we’re back with another question to try and help relieve stress from the week! Fiction? Non-fiction? C. S. Lewis or J. K. Rowling? Let us know which books you’ve been reading down in the comments below!
Day 10: Finish this second week strong as you read and pray.
Day 9: Pray for @centralcollegeage as you wrap up Matthew and start Mark today!
Continuing with our focus on churches in the River Valley, we’d like to call your attention to @forefrontchurchfs. Forefront Church is located at the top of the hill in the Fianna Hills neighborhood.
Lee Kemp, pastor, asks two things to pray through for Forefront Church, their elders, and their vanguards. The first thing is to pray is “open doors to minister to our Fianna neighbors.” The second thing to pray for is a “renewed passion for evangelism.”
Forefront Church meets to dive into prayer every Wednesday night at 7pm in person or on online through Zoom during the pandemic. They meet for worship every Sunday morning at 10:15 am. You can check them out in person or online on their page.
If you’re looking for a church home, we encourage you to get connected to a local church. If you feel as if Forefront Church is a church you’d like more information on, feel free to message us and we will get you connected to one of their leaders!
Day 8: Pray for @lionsforchrist_uafs that they would have Kingdom impact on this campus by spreading the name of Jesus!
We go live in 30 minutes!
Catch us in person or online!
Tonight at 8pm, we’ll be kicking off our spring Connect series! We’ll be going through 1 Thessalonians for 12 weeks of this semester! Make plans to mask up, bring a friend, and join us in person or online on our YouTube page!
Day 7: Pray for @fortsmithchialpha today that the Gospel would go out from their efforts.
Continuing with our leader introductions, we have @papa_hopper. Alex Hopper is a senior business administration major this semester. He is a member of First Southern Baptist Church Central City and serves as their youth minister and pastoral intern. He lives over here at the BCM as one of our caretakers.
When asked to describe himself, Alex dropped these three words, “helper, teacher, and learner.” Our resident type one diabetic also dropped this phrase describing his athleticism, “adequately athletic to properly participate.”
As to why Alex joined leadership, this is what he said, “I joined leadership to serve a ministry that has been foundational in my Christian growth the past few years.”
We’re sad to see him leave when he graduates, but we’re grateful for the many, many years he has served well here. We are looking forward to seeing where God leads him post graduation.
Day 6: Start the second week by reading from a physical Bible and praying for @reachuafs
I Spy a plane ticket. I Spy an English & Chinese Bible. I Spy a feathered hacky sack. I Spy some things that you could take on a mission trip to China.
In college, opportunities are endless. Especially in the summer. The whole world is at your reach and you can make an impact for the sake of the Gospel just by going.
Considering a summer missions opportunity? Let's talk! You can apply through ARgo2 to explore missions’ opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally with our trusted ministry partners! Visit ARgo2.org for more info.
Are they hymns? 90’s power worship songs? Chris Tomlin or Shane & Shane? Whether they’re old or new, we want to hear your top three worship songs that you’ve clung to during this first week of classes. Drop a comment or add them to your story and tag us!
Day 5: End this first week of classes by praying for non-traditional students at UAFS.
Day 4: Pray for UAFS seniors as they finish up their last semesters.
Throughout this semester, we want to call attention to some of our local churches in Fort Smith and the surrounding area.
First up is @grandavenuefs as well as their college ministry @reachuafs. For GABC, we would like to invite you to pray for wisdom and discernment on how to do ministry and do it safely during the pandemic. Pray this for their pastor @bradlewter, their college pastor @Chad_race as well as the rest of the staff and leadership at GABC. For @reachuafs we encourage you to pray, throughout the semester, that the Gospel will be advanced on the campus of UAFS and throughout the River Valley as a result of their ministry.
If you’re a college-age student in the Fort Smith area looking for a church home, go check them out tonight at 8 pm for Reach as well as on Sunday mornings. Feel free to message us and we’ll get you connected to one of their pastors.
Day 3: Find a time today to write out a bulleted prayer for UAFS juniors as they embark on their journey through this semester.
Come hangout tonight at 8pm for ReConnect! We’ll be playing games, having fun, and previewing where we will be going this semester for Connect! Mask up, bring a friend, and come join the fun! We look forward to seeing all the old and new faces tonight!
Day 2: Go find a friend and pray for UAFS sophomores as they start their second spring semester this week.
Over the next several weeks, we will be introducing our leaders for the spring semester of 2021.
First up is our fearless leader @leewoodmansee. Lee Woodmansee is in his 6th year of BCM Ministry at UAFS, and has spent 15 years total of working with college students. He also serves as an elder at Forefront Church.
When asked to describe himself in 3 words or phrases, he gave the following, “Teacher, Storyteller, Habitual Winker, Rule Breaker.”
One interesting fact from the man himself: “The first ever date that my wife @kdwoodmansee and I went on was to Subway for lunch, we have been married for over 11 years.”
Why does Lee continue to do college ministry? “I have always told my wife that I know it is time to stop doing college ministry when: a) I no longer enjoy the things that college students enjoy and b) my maturity exceeds that of the average college student.
So far, we have not crossed those thresholds.”
We are grateful for our campus minister and his strong leadership, and we look forward to how leads us this semester! #LeeWud
Here on day one of our “Focus on the Disciplines,” we would like to invite you to pray for @uafslions freshmen as they start classes today.
