In order to comply with the Arkansas Department of Health’s directive regarding the opening of recreational pools, Parks Staff have installed signage at our four (4) splash pads. Per the directive, a log of patrons should also be kept when possible. Since these are not staffed, we are requesting all patrons check-in via social media when using the splash pads for contact tracing purposes. You can find the locations posted for each splash pad on the below photos. A sign reminding citizens to check-in is also posted at each location. In addition, please continue to follow all State, Local, and CDC guidance regarding preventative measures while enjoying our park amenities. Splash pads are scheduled to open next week.

Opening day for Creekmore Park Pool will be June 15th!! In order to ensure the safety of our patrons and follow the directives set forth by Governor Hutchinson, a few changes will be implemented this year. Changes impacting our patrons are identified in the flyer below. Additionally, Season Passes and Pool Parties will not be offered this year.

Fort Smith Police Department

The Fort Smith Police Department will be increasing patrols throughout our city parks system for the remainder of the COVID-19 Emergency.

Now more than ever, it is vital to respect the health and safety of our most vulnerable as we work to flatten the curve and eliminate the threat of this virus to our way of life. You can help us with this by not congregating in groups of 10 or more people and avoiding participation in group sports activities.

Also, please remember that public playground equipment remains under restriction until further notice. Parks employees will be doing what they can to curtail these activities, including the temporary removal of basketball hoops. However, we stand ready to assist them if needed.

Please respect the guidelines and use caution when going out in public. Thank you to our residents for rising to this unprecedented challenge. We got this! #COVID19 #DoYourPart #COVID19Ark #WeARinthistogether

Malicious cyber activity with regard to COVID-19 is continuing to increase. Below are three recent examples of smishing attacks sent to users’ phones. “Smishing” is like phishing but uses text messages instead of email.

In this case the scammers tried to lure users into thinking it was a legitimate message by making it appear as though it came from the Government or GMAIL.

The links in these scams were identified as a “Banking Trojan” known as (Cerberus) But make no mistake, clicking on these types of Trojans are designed to steal your financial information and other sensitive data.

Here’s a few tips to help keep everyone safe:

• If you’re ever in doubt about the validity of a message,
please call the organization on their official number as it
appears on their website.

• Don’t call the phone number, click links or respond to an
email address contained in the message, as this likely
belongs to the scammer and may expose sensitive
information.

CITY POSTPONES DISCONNECTIONS FOR NON-PAYMENT

The City of Fort Smith Utility Department serves more than 100,000 residents in the City and surrounding areas with drinking water. We want to assure all of them that the drinking water supply is safe.

People may react to news of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) by purchasing large quantities of bottled water. While our City recommends keeping a 4-day supply of bottled water for an emergency kit in case of a natural disaster, it is not necessary to purchase bottled water to prepare for COVID-19. City of Fort Smith drinking water from the tap is safe, reliable, economical, and meets or exceeds all federal and state safe drinking water standards. The Utility Department remains hard at work providing clean, safe water for drinking, bathing, hand washing, and sanitizing equipment.

Our highest priority is the protection and stewardship of the water supply to maintain public health. Our water and sewer systems are operational due to the proactive continuity of operations, preparation, and planning.

Due to the recommendation to stay at home and limit gatherings to 10 or less on many of the City’s businesses, the ability to pay the normal monthly bills may become difficult. In order to maintain the health and welfare of all citizens during the coronavirus crisis, the Utility Department will suspend late fees and disconnects for non-payment until further notice. Also, there will be no penalty for missing a payment on account payment plans. Bills will not be waived and payment will be expected when the virus passes . The City will give advance notice when these processes are expected to resume.

To help keep citizens and City employees healthy, the Utility Department asks customers to avoid making payments in person if possible. Instead, customers are encouraged to use one of the following available options.
