Way to go, Danny!

Here's a mid-week story to make you smile — shout out to ABF Freight driver Danny Baker for living out our values and making Sawyer and Ellie Kate's day!

"I wanted to share with someone our experience with one of your amazing drivers from Duncan, SC. On June 9, 2019, I was waiting on a delivery with my two children. My son who is obsessed with transfer trucks could not hold in his excitement. When he saw Danny Baker backing down the drive he went as fast as he could out in the yard and started motioning for Danny to honk his horn. He made his day when he blew the horn. Danny just took to Sawyer and let him go around his truck and check it out. He was very professional and went above and beyond to please my excited 6 year old. The next day my phone rang and it was Danny. He asked if he we were home and if he could stop by. We were and when he came he brought Sawyer a die-cast ABF truck and an ABF hat. He also brought my little girl a princess doll because she had told him the day before that she wanted to be a princess when she grows up. He explained to my husband and I that Sawyer had made his day. Sawyer has had many struggles in his short 6 years but it does not slow him down and Danny really made a huge impact on him. He was born with spina bifida and wears braces to walk or uses a wheelchair to get around. Sawyer wants to be a truck driver when he grows up and Danny was very patient with him and truly made this delivery very special. About a week later we were in town and Sawyer screams “Mom stop, an ABF truck is coming and it is a Mack so it may be Danny.” We were on a four lane so I slowed down and let the truck catch up. Sure enough, it was Danny. Sawyer was almost hanging out the window and they were both smiling ear to ear. Although I have not met his wife she made both of my children a beautiful shirt. Sawyer’s has a transfer truck and Ellie Kate’s has a princess crown. I am so glad that our paths crossed and I just wanted you to know what a wonderful and thoughtful employee you have! Thanks, Katye W."
