Just trying to figure out the More section, and "community." I'll delete this once I check it out. Thanks, Marty!
I am adopting my 1st cat and I get the worst service ever. If a rescue place wants people to adopt their animals, they MUST be professional and provide decent customer service. We were misled by their false advertising on Milo & Lili. It says "may be adopted together or separate" but after completing our virtual meeting and we chose one, I get an email this morning saying "We are not able to adopt young kittens out as single pets" See picture below: When I tried to argue it, I got " sorry and have a nice day" I would never recommend them to anyone due to their unprofessionalism 😡
We adopted this little boy Obi (formerly Pitter) along with his sister Stella (formerly Patter). Oh my! Not only is he the most affectionate kitten- but a mama’s boy. Does your kitten sleep like this? Obi does! 🤣😂😹😸
Two year update: These two barnies are still here! They get about 6 feet from me in the mornings for feeding times. Charlie & Garfield🙂

Thank you 4Paws for allowing me to foster these beautiful kittens, Sophie and Cinnaman.
All 3 are 4Paws rescues - Maverick, Tamale and Goose. They love to “share” 🤣🤣🤣
Ramble and Rose are fitting right in and loving their new home... although Rose might be getting a bit annoyed with all the pictures :) Thank you for matching is with the perfect kitties for our family 💜
Olive and Sophie keeping watch over the back yard.
We are 9 days old and have eyes and love to tussle. Mom slowly warming up. Babies love kisses and snuggles.
Update! Cookie has been living in her forever home for 6 weeks now, and is absolutely thriving. Here are some pictures of her in her new ‘quarantine activity center’.

Operating as usual

Buffy the Cashmere Kitten. I am 5-6 months old. Give me 2 hands, as I like to be rubbed all over and please keep it coming! I am super soft with a swirl of color like a Caramel Latte. I have deep colored eyes and a very sweet nature. I greet you with a meow and love long conversations, sharing meows. I am still learning to be a kitten and the surroundings of living in a home, with new things and new people. I need your reassurance and guidance, to show me new things and share new experiences together. I am learning everyday and easily trust, though I might look alittle scared at first. I like other cats but I haven't met any kids yet. Interested in being Buffy's forever home? Email [email protected]

Jax the Norwegian Forest Cat mix. Let's Cuddle! I am a Hunk of Love waiting to curl up with you on the couch, to give you my sweetness. My best trick is drinking water from the bathroom sink, I will wait patiently for you to turn it on for me! Bird's Eye View! Give me a window and I will watch the birds all day! Netflix & Chill! I am laid back, quiet and I like other cats, even kids too. I am 4 years old, an indoor only kind of cat and not interested in being outside.

Jax was adopted September 2016 from PWC Animal Shelter as a kitten. He is 4 yrs old, turning 5 yrs old in 2021. The owners have you children and the household is just too busy and chaotic for Jax, therefore, he needs a quiet new home.

Jax is neutered, current on shots, and negative for FIV & feline leukemia. If you want more info about Jax, please email [email protected]

DID SOMEONE SAY MORE KITTIES?

The Wise County Humane Society 501c3 Non Profit was so kind in working with us is assisting the family that needed help with their 100 cats. Now the Wise County Humane Society needs help with their own kittens and cats! Sadly, their organization is another victim of COVID. When the pandemic began, the Kitten Cafe they partnered with permanently shut their doors, causing them to lose their greatest adoption resource and creating a backlog in their limited number of foster homes! Here are photos of some of the wonderful cats that they have available that are in need of transfer to rescue. Many are kittens of approx. 6mos of age, and some young adults. If you can foster any of these kittens or cats or would like to foster with potential to adopt, please email [email protected] and indicate which cat(s) you may be interested in. We are coordinating transport to foster homes in Northern VA and transport to other rescue organizations in Northern VA, DC, and Maryland is also available.

UPDATE on our urgent 100+ cat rescue effort from Southwestern VA.

A big thank you to all the rescue groups and 4Paws volunteers that reached out to foster and transport, and also to those individuals who purchased and shipped cat carriers for the transports!

Currently, a majority of the cats have been rescued!

HUGE thank you to Last Chance Animal Rescue who assisted with 65% of the total cats that have now gone into rescue!

Additional thanks to Humane Society of Fairfax County, Fancy Cats & Dogs Rescue Team, Animal Welfare League of Arlington , Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART), and Pets Bring Joy Rescue for all taking cat and kittens from this home into their organizations.

Special thanks to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue for transportation assistance, and the SPCA of Winchester, Frederick, & Clarke Counties for donated cat carriers.

Lastly, none of this would have been possible without Julia Winston of the Wise County Humane Society 501c3 Non Profit who helped pull this together, regardless of holidays, weekends, and whatever else.

Wise County Humane Society volunteers who housed/prepped cats prior to transport: Janet Williams, Claude Williams, Cory Williams, and Abby Belcher

Transporters for Wise County Humane Society: Janet Williams, Claude Williams, Cory Williams, Betty Lou Domjahn, Dianne Merkert Prout, and B. J. Grimes

There are approximately 5 more cats remaining in need of rescue. There is also 1 very special kitty awaiting xrays and possible surgery, and hopefully a suitable home that can manage her special needs!

URGENT - Barn homes needed! We are urgently seeking barn homes for these five cats so we can pull them out of jeopardy.

Barn cats are altered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to placement and there is no adoption fee. They will be delivered to their new home, along with supplies and some food to start off with. 4Paws is located in the Fairfax, VA area and barn homes within 100 mile radius will be considered. Barn cats must have an appropriate shelter to seek protection against the elements. This can be a barn, a large shed or a garage. We cannot place barn cats in city locations or other high traffic areas.

If you are interested in providing a barn home, please contact [email protected].

Say hello to 4Paws cat Chloe! This girl is all glitz and glamour! Chloe is a beautiful Torby with a gorgeous brindle coat and large bright eyes. If you never heard of that breed, a Torby is a unique blend of Tortoiseshell and Tabby. Chloe likes aerobic workouts with her companion cats and chasing laser beams but also enjoys human company and a nice scratch behind the ears. She will head butt for attention, curl up in your lap, or sleep by your head at night, lullabying you to sleep with her soothing purr.

Chloe was found with her brother, Jacques, out in the cold darting in and out from under a shed. Chloe is an active young kitten (born around September 2020) so will need to have another sporty feline friend. She loves her brother, Jacques, but is not particularly bonded to him so could be adopted with another kitten or into a home with a young active kitty. She hasn’t been around a dog or kids but probably would do fine as long as they are respectful of the glam girl! She is a healthy eater and has neat litter box habits. She is spayed, tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia, microchipped and vaccinated.

Interested in adopting Chloe? Email us at [email protected].

Say hello to 4Paws kitten Jacques! He loves art. He loves affection. Mostly he loves to sleep next to you and sooth you to sleep with his sweet purrs. Jacques’ love of the arts has inspired him to take up painting (which mostly has been him perfecting his technique for keeping his fur off of the painting.) When he is not working on his self-portrait or purring sweet nothings in your ear, he loves to jump and leap after his toy mouse wand.

Jacques was rescued along with his sister, Chloe, from under a shed out in the cold.

Jacques is an active young kitten so will need to be with another aspiring active friend. He loves his sister, Chloe, but they are not particularly bonded and so could be adopted with another kitten or into a home with a young active cat. He was born around September 2020. Jacques can be shy in a noisy environment so may not do well with dogs and children unless they are a quiet, artistic type like himself. He has been neutered, tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and is microchipped and vaccinated.

Interested in adopting Jacques? Email us at [email protected].

Need some holiday cheer? This is our last update of 2020 but it's filled with cuddly goodness.

UPDATE 1/2/21 - THANK YOU! We have received enough carriers for all of our transport needs! We can't thank everyone enough for your support!

While we have secured many rescue commitments for the 100+ cat rescue effort in southwestern VA, we are now facing a shortage of carriers. The transport logistics of this rescue requires us to have a large number of carriers available at once.

If you would like to help, we request that you order carriers (plastic with metal doors) and have them shipped them -directly- to Julia Winston of the Wise County Humane Society (address below) so we can get expedite getting these cats transported and into rescue.

Thank you so much for your support!

URGENT plea for rescue commitments and foster homes!

A compassionate cat rescuer in Southwestern VA is DIRE need of placement of 100+ cats living in her trailer! Transport assistance is available and can be arranged to rescue organizations in Northern VA, Maryland and DC.

Over the years FRIENDLY unwanted cats were abandoned at the caretaker’s property in rural VA. As more and more cats were dumped off, it became impossible for the caretaker to keep up with getting them fixed and population has now exploded to an unsustainable level. There are no funded TNR / community cat programs available, not to mention there are a lot of coyotes in in the area as well.

The cats are loved and it shows in their personalities! The caretaker goes through copious amounts of cat food and litter. Sometimes she doesn't even have enough money to buy herself groceries or pay her bills. She would rather starve than let the cats go hungry.

The cats are very sweet and friendly and in good health! They have been around the caretaker’s children in a loving home. Social Services is involved and if cats are not moved out soon, the next step is animal control. The local shelter in the area cannot intake this volume of cats and they would be euthanized.

We are seeking rescue organizations to intake cats and kittens.

If you are with a rescue organization or shelter that can assist, please contact:
Julia Winston with Wise County Humane Society
[email protected]

The cats are evaluated for temperament and health by a member of the humane society before being transferred to rescue.
The humane society is in need of carrier donations and flea treatment (Advantage II and Capstar),so cats can be treated prior to transport.

If you live in Northern VA and are available to foster, please contact:

A statement from the coalition of animal welfare organizations sponsoring the reward for information leading to the conviction of people shooting cats in Loudoun County.

We are asking anyone who has information about these crimes to contact Loudoun County Animal Services at (703)777-0406.

Say hello to 4Paws cat Jiminy! He's a super-friendly and affectionate 2-year old who loves laps, comes when you call from anywhere in the house, talks up a storm, and greets the door. He'll love everyone who comes to visit, too. Skinny now at 9 lbs, thrilled to be rescued and eating tons to make up for lost meals! Interested in adopting Jiminy? Email us at [email protected].

These two lovely ladies will be arriving to 4Paws this weekend from Caroline County Humane Society in Maryland. While both girls are gorgeous, they are are shy and in need of nurturing foster homes to help them break out of their shells. Amber Lilly is the brown Maine Coon and DC is the long haired tortie. If you can foster either cat, email [email protected]

Greetings from 4Paws cat Suzie in her foster home! This very sweet and petite girl gets along great with everyone in her foster environment- children, other cats, and dogs! Interested in adopting Suzie? Email us at [email protected].

Please, if you have any information, please contact Loudoun County Animal Services at 703-777-0406. The reward for information leading to an arrest is now over $8,000 (4Paws has contributed $1000 towards this reward).

Who is shooting cats? Loudoun, we need your help. Since April, we have had TEN cases of cats being shot, likely by several different individuals, many with pellet guns. Five of these cats were not able to survive their catastrophic injuries, including Sweetie, whose x-ray seen here, shows devastating injuries caused by a pellet gun prior to being humanely euthanized due to the severity of his condition. We have consulted with and utilized the services of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office as well as a K9 officer with the Department of Wildlife Resources to find the perpetrators of these felonies and a $3000 reward is being offered to help solve these cases.

If your children have pellet guns, please talk to them about responsible gun usage. It is an act of animal cruelty to shoot a cat and a felony for anyone (even a minor) to inflict serious bodily injury to a cat, which was the case in all ten of these shootings. We know most kids love their pets, and may not realize that “target practice” on outdoor cats is legally and ethically different than organized hunting. All cats in the state of Virginia are considered companion animals, and the majority of these cats have been beloved family pets who have suffered from debilitating or life-ending injuries.

If you have seen or heard of anyone shooting cats, please call us (703-777-0406) - you may remain anonymous. Animal cruelty is frequently an escalating act, with strong statistical links to violent crimes against both children and adults. We need to find this person or people and keep our community safe. With most of these acts occurring in eastern Loudoun, where the population and residences are dense, every discharge of a firearm or pellet gun carries risk.

Our Humane Law Enforcement team is taking this investigation very seriously, but we need your help. We cannot continue to have cats dying slow, painful, preventable deaths. We are here to provide resources to those who struggle with concerns over free-roaming cats, but to needlessly inflict devastating injuries is not only heartbreaking and worrisome for our local families, it is also a felony, carrying potential jail time. Friends of Loudoun County Animal Services is now offering a $3,000 reward for tips leading to the arrest of the person responsible for one or more of these cat shootings. We can be reached at 703-777-0406 and messages can be left after hours.

This case is keeping us all up at night, and we will not rest until justice has been served for all these cats and their heartbroken families. Today, we ask for your help, in honor of Binx, Hope, Prissy, Chiron and Lillabet and in memory of: The Lovettsville three, Lacey and Sweetie. Please share on social media, talk to your families, talk to your friends and HOAs, and help us solve this case.
