I thought this might be of interest to some of my clients.

medscape.com Compared with aerobic exercise, the traditional martial art of tai chi is as good as, or better than, aerobic exercise for improving the overall severity of fibromyalgia symptoms, new research shows.

The 3 R's are vital to all physical and emotional healing. Massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which allows your body and mind to Relax, Release, and Restore. We often do not realize how this process can help us heal until after we have begun to feel better. Whether through daily practice or regular massage, please allow yourself the time and space to generate the Relax, Release, and Restore Response to daily stress, physical injury, and mental/emotional fatigue.

[05/30/18]   A recent review on Yelp
----
I went to see Michael after taking a fall down a couple of stairs and landing on the garage floor--on both knees. After a couple of days, the pain had spread from my knees to my lower back, and up to my neck. I booked a full 90 minutes with Michael, and I'm so glad I did, as he brought much needed relief to my aching body. In addition to being a mature and dedicated healer, Michael is incredibly intuitive in his work. It continually surprised me how he would instinctively find the subtle knots and tensions--of which I was mostly unaware--and release tension I didn't know I even had. I've had a lot of massages by some wonderful massage therapists over the course of my sixty-six years. Michael is one of the best. I highly recommend him.

An Ocean’s Touch

My Approach As a massage therapist and energyworker, I see each person as a unique individual with a distinctive story and background. At the same time, I also recognize each person's place in the broader patterns of life and collective whole. When we are calm and relaxed, we all have the ability to connect with our inner guidance and the flow of creation. As such, my role as therapist is to listen to the person, listen to the body, and assist each individual in connecting with their true nature, the divine, and the Earth. It is my belief that when one feels heard, one feels safe and invites the gift of compassion, understanding, and healing into their presence. I am then honored to share my knowledge, experience, intuition, and spirit in the service of all my bodywork sessions.

My Path I decided to become a massage therapist in order to bring greater compassion, peace, and balance into the lives of others, to our local and global communities, and to the Earth. I believe that, in order to find true balance in life, each person requires a network of support, which includes wellness practitioners. As an energyworker, I have been honored to touch the lives of many people and wanted to expand my assistance to others through additional healing modalities. So, I embarked upon the path of massage. With all these things in mind, I promise myself and my clients that I will continue to search for meaningful ways to be of such service.

I have been a practicing healer for the past 28 years. My practice to this point has focused on various forms of energywork, including Reiki, and multicultural shamanic healing. During that same time, I also worked as a horticulturist, which has given me a profound experiential relationship with plants, the Earth, and many of nature's processes. Additionally, I have a Master's Degree in Anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh with a specialization in Medical Anthropology and Ethnobotanic Studies.

My spiritual practice guides my worldview, my actions, and my desire to assist others. Since I was a teenager, I have considered myself a philosophical Taoist. And, I have been a practicing Buddhist for the last 18 years.

In my spare time, I garden, write and would love to learn to play guitar and paint.
