[10/16/20]   U.S. Breast Cancer Statistics

• About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
• In 2020, an estimated 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 48,530 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
• About 2,620 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2020.
• About 42,170 women in the U.S. are expected to die in 2020 from breast cancer..
• For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer.
• As of January 2020, there are more than 3.5 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. This includes women currently being treated and women who have finished treatment.
• Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. In 2020, it's estimated that about 30% of newly diagnosed cancers in women will be breast cancers.
• In women under 45, breast cancer is more common in Black women than white women. Overall, Black women are more likely to die of breast cancer.
• A woman’s risk of breast cancer nearly doubles if she has a first-degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Less than 15% of women who get breast cancer have a family member diagnosed with it.
• About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer.
RISK FACTORS ARE:

Being a Woman
Age
Family History
Genetics
Personal History of Breast Cancer
Radiation to Chest or Face Before Age 30
Race/Ethnicity
Being Overweight
Pregnancy History
Women who haven’t had a full-term pregnancy or have their first child after age 30 have a higher risk of breast cancer compared to women who gave birth before age 30

Breastfeeding History
Breastfeeding can lower breast cancer risk, especially if a woman breastfeeds for longer than 1 year.

Menstrual History
Women who started menstruating (having periods) younger than age 12 have a higher risk of breast cancer later in life. The same is true for women who go through menopause when they're older than 55.

Using HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy)
Current or recent past users of HRT have a higher risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Since 2002 when research linked HRT and risk, the number of women taking HRT has dropped dramatically.

Drinking Alcohol
Research consistently shows that drinking alcoholic beverages -- beer, wine, and liquor -- increases a woman's risk of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer.

Dense Breasts
Research has shown that dense breasts can be twice as likely to develop cancer as nondense breasts and can make it harder for mammograms to detect breast cancer.

Lack of Exercise
Research shows a link between exercising regularly at a moderate or intense level for 4 to 7 hours per week and a lower risk of breast cance

Smoking
Smoking causes a number of diseases and is linked to a higher risk of breast cancer in younger, premenopausal women. Research also has shown that there may be link between very heavy second-hand smoke exposure and breast cancer risk in postmenopausal women.

Low of Vitamin D Levels
Research suggests that women with low levels of vitamin D have a higher risk of breast cancer. Vitamin D may play a role in controlling normal breast cell growth and may be able to stop breast cancer cells from growing.

Eating Unhealthy Food
Diet is thought to be at least partly responsible for about 30% to 40% of all cancers. No food or diet can prevent you from getting breast cancer. But some foods can make your body the healthiest it can be, boost your immune system, and help keep your risk for breast cancer as low as possible

[05/24/18]   Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is looking.

[02/22/18]   To ALL Caregivers.....Please use the necessary precautions to avoid the flu. This flu season is no joke. Many are dying. Especially the children and the elderly. Remember to wash you hands!!

[01/22/18]   During this deadly flu season, please remember your good hand washing skills especially when working with the elderly. They are so vulnerable. Treat them as you would treat your own mother or grandmother.

[08/21/17]   Please be very careful today. It is not worth it to have permanent eye damage from looking directly at the eclipse. If you have to take your client out, take the necessary precautions
Be Safe

[06/23/17]   Enjoy your summer and remember to careful to not take your clients in the heat of the day if possible

[05/24/17]   Happy Nurses Week/Month to all of my ANGELS!!! You do such an awesome work. Keep doing what you are doing and you will be richly rewarded by God if not man

[12/22/16]   Remember as the weather gets cold to check on any elderly person you know. Don't wait on "family support" because they may not have any. While you are there give them a hug. I am sure that will make their day

[12/13/16]   Thought for the day....."Behind every good nurse stands a Great CNA". I thank God for all of my wonderful and Great CNA's

[11/14/16]   Hi
Alert to all Caregivers.......please suggest to your elderly client that they need to get the flu vaccine if they have not had it for this year yet. Also tell them to check with their provider to see if they need the pneumonia vaccine as well.
Thank you for all you do for the elderly everywhere

[07/30/16]   Caregivers during these hot days of summer please remember to encourage your clients to drink lots of water, plan indoors activities, and make sure they have air conditioning

[06/25/16]   If you are a Caregiver, I pray that God Bless you and give you that spirit of Long suffering that you need. Be Blessed and know that God will help you to do what you need in order to take care of your love one

[06/16/16]   Let me take this opportunity to say to all caregivers..........THANK YOU. You have the hardest job ever! Most of you are taking care of parents and are dealing with "role reversal" but know that God will help you to do this with the utmost grace and respect. Remember that as the weather gets hotter, you need to make sure you keep them hydrated by offering water frequently throughout the day.

[05/05/16]   May God Bless all of my Angels as they bless our clients. Know that I appreciate all that you do on behalf of Angels Sitter Service. Let's make 2016 the most memorable year yet. Love You!!!

[05/04/16]   Attention: All in home personal care givers.......Use this lovely weather to do some outdoor activities with your clients. The pollen has been reduced and it is not too hot yet!!! Enjoy while we can. If you are able to do that, please post your activity .
Be Blessed

[04/15/16]   Love doesn't mean anything if it is not shared because Love is an ACTION word. Have you hugged a senior citizen today? If not, what are you waiting on?

[11/19/15]   During the holidays it could be very stressful trying to get things down while caring for your love one. Ask us about providing "Respite Care" to allow you to go out and shop, run errands, go to holiday parties, etc knowing that your love ones are taken care of in your home. Call today to discuss respite care.

[09/10/15]   Primary Care Givers are God's Gift but you cannot care for others well if you do not take care of YOURSELF. This is one mistake that we often see care givers make. There is usually respite care that you can take advantage of so that you can take a break (a mini vacation) to refresh and then come back to take care of your love ones.

[08/24/15]   Do you know that for certain individuals who qualify, they could received in home personal care free of charge?? Call me to see if you qualify.

[08/24/15]   Did you know that according to the Mayo Clinic...........

"Studies show that people who are physically active are less likely to experience a decline in their mental function and have a lowered risk of developing Alzheimer's disease"
