Voices from the Past Remain Relevant as Groundbreaking Guide for Disabled Girls and Women is Reissued Online

The societal and cultural challenges faced by women and girls are well known, but often overlooked are the extreme challenges faced by our sisters with disabilities. “No More Stares”, published in 1982, is still relevant today, and shines light on these magnificent women who succeed despite the challenges they face.

“No More Stares includes many photographs of disabled women taken by different photographers. Pictures of disabled women living independent lives, finding their own way, signaling encouragement to the women and girls reading the book today who face similar experiences and obstacles that its authors and participants encountered when the book was first published.”

It is now available online. Link in article.

‘I Had No Idea I Was Having a Heart Attack’: For Women, Cardiac Arrests Are Unseen Killers

Women who are having a heart attack often have very different symptoms than men. Know the signs—it’s often NOT chest pain.
See pic in first comment for a summary of signs and symptoms from the Mayo Clinic.

A Self-Care Checklist for Surviving the Holidays

Self-care is ESSENTIAL. Believe me, I know. Or at least I’m learning first hand how a gross lack of self-care compounded with the heavy long-term stressors of life lead to scary diseases such as cancer, autoimmune imbalances, and so many other chronic health issues.

This is an excellent Self-Care checklist for any time of the year, yet especially so during holidays. I encourage you to read it. Print it. Share it.

UVA Identifies Brain’s Lymphatic Vessels as New Avenue to Treat Multiple Sclerosis

New research from the University of Virginia team that discovered lymphatic pathways in the brain believe that these vessels play an important role in neuroinflammatory conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and severe brain infections. My guess is we will eventually discover links to other inflammatory conditions, including all other autoimmune diseases and imbalances, within this particular region of the lymphatic system. Here’s why: the brain is really in charge of the body, and the lymphatic system is the superhighway of the immune system AND also acts as the municipal trash collectors and processors. You can imagine what happens when there is an accident on the freeway or the trash collections don’t happen in your neighborhood...the same happens within our body systems. Of course this is a simplified description—the immune system is very complex, and because of this complexity and interconnection with all other organ systems, tissues, and cells, if ANYTHING gets out of whack, the body begins to suffer, especially if it happens at “central control”.

news.virginia.edu Research suggests that the vessels – which were only recently identified by the same UVA lab – carry a mysterious message from the brain that causes MS.

Health officials launch ambitious plan to rid the world of trans fats — Los Angeles Times

THIS is SO IMPORTANT and it’s long overdue!!! Ridding the world of trans-fats is such an important step for improving Public Health around the world. They are cheap, toxic, pro-inflammatory oils and fats that are in many convenience foods. Trans-fats are the ABSOLUTE WORST ANTI-NUTRIENTS you can eat. Trans-fats are a primary contributor to cardio-vascular issues, ranging from clogged arteries to massive heart attacks, and a whole lot of other symptoms and syndromes.

apple.news In an effort to save half a million lives each year, the World Health Organization on Monday urged developing nations to follow the lead of

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders

“Health care” and “health insurance” in the US is code for “show us your money and we’ll show you your treatment options”. This is why we need a Single Payer system. No one should go broke trying to stay alive, and no one should ever have to choose death over crippling debt.

If someone is diagnosed with cancer the last thing they should worry about is how they are going pay for treatment. But women who are diagnosed with breast cancer will put off treatment and testing, and wait to start chemotherapy by an average of seven months, if they have high-deductible insurance plans, according to a new study.

Let's be as clear as possible. This should never happen to one person in the wealthiest country in the world, let alone thousands. Our priority as a nation must be to guarantee health care to all, not to the few who can afford it.

The idea that everything from spoons to stones are conscious is gaining academic credibility

Consciousness studies are my secret love. One of the most influential courses I had in college many moons ago (I was 19) was called, “The Psychology of Consciousness”, and while I have not since “formally” pursued this path as a course of study, I have been an avid student nonetheless.

The gaining acceptance of the concept that consciousness permeates everything, IS everything, is such exciting news! Many of us in the “alternative medicine” field have known this forever...it is the very basis of our core beliefs and understanding and is what, IMO, allows the space for “healing” in its myriad forms to develop. Meditation, Qi gong, yoga, massage, breath work, mindfulness training are all easy and effective ways to “tap into” and become aware of this “permeating” nature of consciousness...it IS how everything is connected. It is WHY we are all ONE.

qz.com “If you think about consciousness long enough, you either become a panpsychist or you go into administration.”

Physicians for Informed Consent

I don’t know much about the Hep B vaccine, and will certainly look into its risks, but I’ve been recommending for years now that parents forego the HPV vaccine for their teens. It’s a dangerous vaccine for many people and for many reasons. Injury from this vaccine is not uncommon. Here’s peer-reviewed scientific analysis, brought to you by Physicians for Informed Consent, a non-profit dedicated to actual medical science and not a big-pharma sales pitch.

Did you know that current vaccines for Hepatitis B and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) have the potential to cross-react with and alter human proteins, resulting in debilitating diseases?

To “nullify potential crossreactivity risks in vaccination protocols…it is suggested that only vaccines based on sequences unique to pathogens” be used. “The data…support(s) the possibility of crossreactions between the two viral antigens (used in anti-HBV/HPV vaccines) and human proteins that, when altered, may associate with neuropsychiatric, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases such as multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, diabetes, and sudden death.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/27490205/

The root cause of autism may have been found... and no, it's not vaccines

An interesting article about what may cause autism. While genetics may play a big role, it is my belief that other factors, including nutrient deficiencies, viruses, environmental toxins, and chemical exposures influence whether or not those genes are expressed.
