This Sunday at Westside Foursquare Church, I will continue to teach with photos from our Israel/Holy Land Tour. I will talk about the power of Water Baptism and how God uses our personal stories so powerfully when we share with people about our relationship with Jesus. The Apostle Paul made a great defense for his faith in Ceasarea before King Herod Agrippa II, and we'll look at pictures from Ceasarea at the site where Paul shared his story of conversion and faith.
This Sunday at Westside we will be serving Brunch at 10 am and sharing some pictures and iMovies from our trip to Israel that we made in May. Come join us for a mini-tour of the Holy Land!
Thank you for all of your thoughts, texts, messages, and replies on FB in regards to our Dad's passing away.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Bill Johnson on Friday, October 21st at 1:00 pm at Northwest Church in Federal Way, 34800 21st Ave SW, Federal Way, WA 98023.
Here's an email message I just sent out to our church family -- (if you are not on our email list and would like to be, just let me know at DLJWest4@aol.com)
Good Afternoon Westside Family!
Tomorrow morning we are going to have a very special Sunday at Westside as we welcome Dr. Susan Enfield. I will be sharing a short teaching leading into hearing from Dr. Enfield. Dr. Enfield is the Superintendant of Highline Public Schools and she has a passion for our children and youth and their parents as she has been working tirelessly among the schools to bring about a new spirit of excellence and hard work.
She believes in our young people and you will appreciate her heart, her passion and her desire to see our children and young people succeed. You'll want to be there in the morning to hear from her and allow the Lord to touch your heart for our children, our youth and our schools' teachers and leadership.
Hope to see you in the morning at 10 am!
Pastor Dan & Lori
As we go forward... Great simple video from our primary 4sq. leaders talking about reaching Central Asia. take it to prayer:
Tomorrow morning, we will be hearing from Jason Heringlake as he shares about his renewed faith in the light of facing some serious challenges with cancer.
There have been many of us who have been profoundly affected by this disease and tomorrow as we hear Jason share his journey of faith, I know God will enlarge our hearts and encourage us in our faith to believe for great things.
Thank you for your prayers for Jason and Lisa and their family in these days!
I hope you can make it for this very special Sunday morning!
Grateful to serve the Lord with you,
Dan & Lori Johnson
On Tuesday Nights I am meeting with some of the men in our church to dialogue about the book, "The Divine Mentor." It is a book written by one of my friends who pastors in Hawaii - Wayne Cordeiro. He has mentored and raised up hundreds of leaders who are having significant impact on today's world.
Here's an example of the journaling that he suggests we do as we read God's Word and meditate on the implications of what we hear from the heart of God. --
Every Day can be a Day of Redemption
06 Apr 2016
Scripture — As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it. 2 For God says,
“At just the right time, I heard you.
On the day of salvation, I helped you.”
Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.
3 We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry. 4 In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind…7 We faithfully preach the truth. God’s power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense…10 Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything. 1 Corinthians 6:1-4, 7, 10
The Apostle Paul was reminding the Corinthians what it really meant to embrace the high calling of living for Jesus. It wasn’t just a matter of accepting and acknowledging God’s free gift of grace found in the Cross of Jesus Christ with forgiveness, redemption and eternal life, and then going their own way and living the way they wanted to.
It also involved caring deeply enough for the people around us to realize that today is the Day of Salvation, and that there are wise choices we can make each day to pray, to serve, and to earn the right to be heard through our gracious sacrifice and heart of service. We all have the privilege to offer eternal life and salvation to our friends and family. And though there are many who may reject our message, or who would feel that they don’t “need” salvation, we humbly persist to obey our Lord and offer to people the gift of Eternal Life and the great purposes for which we were all made.
These words from Paul remind me that there is an urgency with which we should all live our lives. Today is the Day of Salvation. That means to me that I need to keep praying for my friends, neighbors and acquaintances that they will respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ. This Good News of repentance, eternal life and living with a significant purpose that’s larger then ourselves is worth it in light of Eternity.
God is still inviting many into His family. He is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to this place of salvation. I encourage you this day to still be bold in your witness for Jesus. Sometimes we need to just be quiet and serve for a season. Sometimes people need to hear the music of the Gospel through our lives before they are ready to hear the words of the Gospel. Let your life be marked with the beautiful music of God’s love, joy and peace this day, and there will be many who will pay attention to His Presence in your life.
Thank You, Lord Jesus for giving me a heart for hurting people. There are many who struggle with the day to day issues of life. But as we respond to You and allow You into our lives, there is much Grace, and Love and Joy and Peace that you give to us. Help me to be a minister of your Grace and your Presence this day.
It's Tuesday and tonight at 7:00 pm we are going to start a new series based on the book, The Divine Mentor, written by Pastor Wayne Cordeiro. We will probably watch at least one video on this, and we will be handing out the book The Divine Mentor tonight.
I am looking forward to this study and it's a great time opportunity for the men of our church to get together. I encourage you to make this a priority as we take time to appreciate the power of God's Word in our lives and the incredible difference we can make in our families and in the lives of our friends.
Hope you can make it to these!
If you don't have a church you regularly attend, you're welcome to join us at Westside this Sunday at 10 am
