We are a nonprofit provider of accredited early childhood education, before/after school, and summer camp with flexible programs, for children ages two months through sixth grade with nine programs in NW Washington, DC and Maryland.

Mission: To create and advance high quality, diverse educational communities that teach children the foundations of life-long learning and social responsibility.

Stronger Together

Wonders is dedicating #GivingTuesday to the folks who give of themselves every day – our Wonders teachers!

The Stronger Together Campaign continues a special Wonders gift-giving tradition, started many years ago by families who wanted to collectively express their gratitude and affection for the teachers who are dedicated to the many families we serve. This year our goal is to raise $30,000 to provide holiday bonuses to our teachers as well as support their continued professional development. We encourage you to join Wonders in our Stronger Together Campaign and make a gift. What better way to celebrate #GivingTuesday than showing gratitude to the people who have significantly impacted your children's lives?

No matter the size, your gift makes an impact. Join in on the giving this Giving Tuesday and donate to our Stronger Together Campaign today!

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life! Wonders is wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving, we hope your day is full of gratitude and love.

[11/28/19]   Throughout the month of November, our team of teachers, directors, and leaders have been reflecting on gratitude. We’ve learned more about ourselves and one another in the process and strengthened our connections. As you gather today, consider asking everyone to share one thing that they are grateful for.

All of us at Wonders hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and we are grateful that you are part of the Wonders family!

Stop Trying to Raise Successful Kids

“The real test of parenting is not what your children achieve, but who they become and how they treat others. If you teach them to be kind, you’re not only setting your kids up for success. You’re setting up the kids around them, too.”

How to Raise Boys Who Are in Touch With Their Feelings

“Reichert’s book is a convincing argument for all of us, as a society, to better support boys in their development. It’s up to us to make sure we don’t inadvertently pressure them to conform to some distorted view of manhood, but instead help lift them up. That’s the only way to encourage them to fulfill their full potential as men…and as human beings.”

greatergood.berkeley.edu A new book argues that we are hurting boys by not helping them value their emotions and their social connections.

Lesaux and Jones: Is This High-Quality Preschool Really Working? To Find Out, Parents Should Ask About These Unseen Things

Wonders is excited to announce that we have a brand new website for the new program year! Last year we decided to take on this project as an organization and our goal was to provide a website for our current and potential families, where they could easily navigate the site to find vital program information. We also wanted a site that would clearly convey the Wonders message and brand for all who may be interested in who Wonders is, what we do, and what our mission and values are. We are proud to provide a new site that is now more user-friendly, with a bright, fun, sleek design!

We are thankful for Moya Design Partners, who teamed with Wonders to provide this awesome new site, it was such a pleasure working with them. Check out the new wonderslearning.org and tell us what you think. We hope you all love the new website as much as we do!

#MOYA’s #visualdesign team has just completed a new website for Wonders Early Learning + Extended Day! Wonders offers high-quality, diverse educational communities that teach children the foundations of life-long learning and social responsibility.

Wonders engaged MOYA’s visual design team to rebrand their existing website with one that integrated smoother navigation, new information features and one that incorporated their playful brand. We cut and edited a short full-screen video as a header in their homepage with their mission as the theme. We made complex resources easy to access: Application forms, downloads for parents, as well as different options to give donations are usable from all platforms. Calls to action and interactive elements guide the user throughout, especially in pages that are dense in content. Wonders’ broad and vivid brand palette lent itself to unique color combinations. The round black fonts, logo and pictograms asked for extensive use of white space along with bold organizational color blocks to let the brand’s vivacity breathe.

Our Dolphins classroom created their very own portrait gallery!

The gallery was inspired by Amy Sherald and Kehinde Wiley, the artists commissioned to paint the official Michelle and Barack Obama portraits. The Dolphins classroom not only created self-portraits of their own but also discussed the idea of representation and how these artists often choose subjects of color who might normally be excluded from the world of "fine art." Teachers have a unique opportunity to support children's identity development and help children to appreciate and respect human differences within the classroom and beyond. We believe that an equitable early childhood education teaches young children how to notice, name, and celebrate human difference, and how to interrupt hurtful behaviors and unfair treatment.

We're so proud of our Dolphins classroom and their beautiful self-portraits!
