O went to Walt Whitman graduated 1968. Love if You would join my Facebook Patricia Elizondo. My father was Ambassador at The time. I always tell people that in those Years we watched the Vietnam war on tv every night. It’s not like now where you see bits and pieces. We Walked thru the jungle with the soldiers Every night. I don’t think anything like that has ever happened again. Your class companion would be sent to Viet Nam. They where so desperate. Your age didn’t matter.
Why does the Media speak out against Racism against Blacks, Jewish & Muslim people while the American media promote Racism against Native Americans? Is it right to call out other people on being racist, but not yourself? DICTIONARY.COM- REDSKIN – [Red-skin] Noun, A disparaging offensive contemptuous term refer to a North American Indian. N-WORD – Noun, A disparaging offensive contemptuous term used to refer to a black person. REDSKIN- just like deerskin, rabbit skin, etc. Native Americans were lynched and skin like animals. They hung their bodies up in trees to try to scare Native Americans off their lands. The same way they lynched and cut off Black’s genitals to scare them. Ban The Name! Every football season the media remind Native Americans how they were lynched and skinned like animals. Ban the racist name from the networks!

Founded in 1962, Walt Whitman High School's drama program is award winning and internationally recognized.

Whitman Drama is structured very much like a conservatory program. Its students participate in multiple theater components -- everything from onstage performance to design to production management. Our focus is on the process of artistic development rather than the end product. We value intelligence, commitment, diversity and an understanding of the human condition by applying techniques based in realism. Whitman Drama especially emphasizes student involvement and ownership. We are based in Bethesda, Maryland.

[05/29/20]   EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! The Keep Whitman Drama Alive Fundraiser is finally here! Donate here: gofundme.com/f/keep-whitman-drama-alive

In a time of fractured togetherness, Whitman Drama needs your help to recoup our lost Talent Show ticket sales and to support our next season. Your contribution will allow us to both recover our losses and maintain the quality of our productions amidst financial uncertainty. When schools closed, we were one week away from opening night. We urgently need these funds, as we were supposed to earn back our budget through ticket sales over a month ago.

This program means the world to us—it is not only one of Whitman’s artistic focal points, but the heartbeat of our high school experience. We want to show that despite present circumstances, our community still holds as strong as it always has.

Please consider donating the money you would have spent on tickets; Whitman Drama, both present and future, is so grateful for your support.

[03/12/20]   Hi everyone.

As you may have heard, Governor Hogan just announced that schools will be closed from Monday, March 16th to the 27th.

That said, Talent Show is POSTPONED and we plan to reschedule production week. We will let you know about new dates as soon as possible, please trust that we are doing our best to ensure smooth communication.

The show will go on!

Whitman Drama

Introducing your favorite hero-villain pair: Peter Pan and the currently two-handed pirate captain Black Stache!!

Here's an exclusive interview with Peter (senior Matthew Millin) and Stache (senior Lucas Arulpragasam) as they introduce themselves and give you a little inside information about what's in store!

How many shows have you done with Whitman Drama?

MM: I've done 11 - every show with Whitman Drama since my freshman musical.

LA: This is my first production with Whitman Drama, and second show ever since a sixth grade production of Peter Pan.

What is your favorite part about your role?

MM: I've enjoyed the challenge of playing a younger role than I've played in my last few shows. Playing Peter is especially fun because I get to grow up with him over the course of the show, as he transforms from a lonely, no-name orphan to the iconic hero everyone knows and loves.

LA: My favorite part about playing Stache is being able to be as extravagant as possible to the point of being a godly character.

What are you most excited for audiences to see in this production?

MM: I do some pretty cool stunts in this show, and I'm excited for audiences to see that magic happen in real time!

LA: I'm really excited for them to see the Stache itself, in addition to the brilliant costumes and technical elements and the hilarious humor.

One week until opening!! Exclusive first photos of this amazing production are below - be sure to buy tickets to witness more of the magic!! February 20, 21st, and 22nd at 7 pm.

Peter and the Starcatcher tickets are being sold online at whitmandrama.ticketleap.com or at both lunches all this week and next. Tickets are $10 for students, $15 for adults, and $20 for reserved seating.
