A research center dedicated to the study of the Black Sea-Caspian region. The Center for Black Sea-Caspian Studies, formerly with American University, is an independent institution that focuses scholarly attention on the increasingly important Black Sea-Caspian region.
Through research, analysis, and innovative collaboration with local counterparts, the Center is initiating several studies to develop comprehensive multidisciplinary knowledge and understanding of the region’s pressing security, political, economic, and societal problems, as well as its potential. We will dedicate special effort to the genesis and analysis of the region’s conflicts and creative means of conflict prevention and resolution.
Mission: The Center will conduct a comprehensive background analysis of the major challenges and opportunities in the Black Sea-Caspian region, using the available data on demography, social-economic and military-security potential, as well as the results of representative surveys, focus group analysis, and interviews on perceptions and attitudes.
