We offer individual and group guitar lessons at our studio and via Skype. We also offer music booking for restaurants, weddings and other events.

Recognizing these as fundamental principles of the human experience, we here at Blue Raccoon Tunes guide and nurture the passion of our diverse guitar students, from the tyro touching strings for the first time to the experienced player cultivating his craft. We provide the full range of guitar and music instruction, including sound left and right hand technique, practical theory, ear training, improvisation and repertory building. We welcome players of all levels in nearly every style of music, including classical, jazz, blues, bluegrass, country, folk and rock. Our master instructor, with nearly twenty years’ experience teaching and performing professionally, focuses on keeping the music fun and functional by making players who practice in order to play, whether solo or in group formats. In a world where learning seems increasingly to have been subjugated by institutionalized compulsion, we aim to offer the joy and enlightened self-assurance that accompany discovery and advancement in a beloved discipline. We love to play and trust that you will too! Lessons At Blue Raccoon Tunes we offer individual and group lessons at our studio in Bethesda and via Skype. Rates: Individual in-studio half-hour lesson: $50 Individual in-studio hour lesson: $80 Individual Skype half-hour lesson: $55 Individual Skype hour lesson: $85 Group in studio hour lesson: $60 per student Booking Live jazz tastefully performed adds an immeasurable degree of class to nearly any venue or event. As soon as the music meets the ear of the guest or potential patron, his/her expectations of the experience elevate considerably. We here at Blue Raccoon Tunes believe that restaurant managers and owners ought to give the same consideration to their aural environment as they do to the appearance of their establishment. After all, dust can be swept under the rug, noise cannot. Televisions and generic music stations, so popular these days, betray commonness. Shouldn’t your place be extraordinary? From solo to quintet, Carey Smith offers classic jazz to accompany the guests’ experience; subtle enough to constitute “background music,” but deep enough to sustain attentive listening. Let us add so much to your ambiance! Rates (for standard 3-hour gigs with customary 15 minutes breaks per hour for the musicians.
