[12/07/18]   Our winter Play is Excalibur: Story of Young King Arthur. Check out our website.

[11/10/18]   Pyle drama classes are in New York in an acting workshop. Saw ‘Once on this Island’ last night and met Quentin Earl Darrington who portrays Agwe, the God of Water!

[09/21/18]   Wow! Over 90 students came out to show interest in being part of our Tech crew. Boy, we are so blessed to have so many great kids who want to be part of the musical.
Show us your best!

[09/16/18]   What a great week of auditions for our winter musical, Legally Blonde, Jr! 93 students worked hard to demonstrate their dancing, singing, and acting skills. Cast list was posted on Friday with a spectacular cast. Can't wait to see this show come together. Kudos to Ricky Stakem and Zach Tilkens for a smooth audition process that stayed on schedule throughout. Thanks to all the great kids who auditioned. On to tech planning this coming week:)

[08/29/18]   Urgent: Parent & High School help needed
The Drama Department needs parents and high school kids to help tonight starting at 5pm. If we have enough, we can get done in 1 hour or so.

The mission:
Return the set and prop pieces to our newly located outside storage shed in an orderly fashion.

Reason for the urgency:
It's going to rain tomorrow and Friday so we can't do it then. The kids helping yesterday did their best but their short stature and 100 degree heat made it hard to take much out at a time. The PE department needs their room for Tuesday where the items are currently being stored.

Please reply to [email protected] if you can help. Wear covered shoes and bring work gloves if you have them.

STRONG PEOPLE encouraged to come but I will take anyone willing to lift and walk with stuff:)

Sincerely,

Kathy Cox

[02/09/18]   Our new website to learn about the Pyle Spring Play...AND READ IT!!
https://sites.google.com/mcpsmd.net/pylespringplaybetsybooharshaun/home

[02/08/18]   Interviews for Leadership are Thursday and Friday. Those scheduled for Wednesday are now on for Friday. There are openings. We still need interviews for A t-shirt Designer, a Makeup and Hair Manager and also Set Making interns (Interns from Whitman).

[02/08/18]   The first full draft of Betsy Boohar's Haunted Bed & Breakfast is finished!! I need some high school students and adults to help me with a read through. Let me know if you're interested. [email protected]
I'll try to pin down a location. Parents, if you are willing to volunteer your house, that would be great if I can't get the school. I'm considering this Saturday or Sunday for a read-through. Should take about 2 1/2 hours for everything including assigning parts to read.

Is your Pyle Student interested in DRAMA?
Many years students must choose between an after school activity or participating in the spring play. This year the schedule for this coming Pyle Programs allows students to participate in a drama-related session and still audition for the spring play in February-March. Students will need to schedule auditions around their after school session and will need to compromise on one meeting, but otherwise, they can participate in 1 after school activity in drama and still audition for the play.

Here are my suggestions:

Check out Pyle Panther Programs Winter Schedule. The classes run January 16 to March 15 from 3:05-4:15 pm. Registration is now open!

The Flex Academy Classes include:

Wednesdays: Improv for Young Actors,
OR
Thursdays: Drama Club,

[12/05/17]   Does your child love theatre? Does he or she love to act? What about tech jobs like painting, drawing, crafting props, costuming through design or sewing, artistic in designing posters, technical strengths for lighting or sound, or a leader who has already done several shows? Then you may be interested in the schedule for the Pyle Spring Play. Below are the dates to add to your calendar.

Your child may currently be interested in being part of a Pyle Panther program for session 2. The Pyle Improvisation Group (Wednesdays after school Jan 16-March 15) or the Pyle Drama Club (Thursdays after school Jan. 16-March 15). Please be aware that I cannot tell you if your child will or will not be part of the Pyle Play. Dates for the auditions and call-backs as well as tech interviews would not conflict. If your child gets into the show, there are some rehearsals that would conflict. We could compromise a bit since they are the beginning of the rehearsal process, but please be aware of this conflict before you sign up for your after school program. It would be best not to sign up for BOTH if you also plan to be part of the spring play.

[09/01/17]   Hi everyone, one more reminder about auditions for our fall musical, ALL SHOOK UP!

There will be an Audition Prep Session on September 6th, and Auditions will take place on September 8th. Callbacks will take place on September 11th. See attached Information Packet & Audition Application for additional information.

Students who are interested in Technical Theatre should listen to the morning announcements for information about an interest meeting that will take place in mid-September.

Since auditions are so early in the school year, we want to be sure that everyone has the information in plenty of time. Please forward this information to friends and neighbours who may not be on Pylenet yet!

Cheers,
RS
