Fire Department Assistance - Texas A&M Forest Service

FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency is providing a chance for volunteer and combination fire departments to apply for funding for PPE and other supplies during this time affected by COVID-19. This is a supplemental opportunity FEMA is providing, so even if your department received funding from their first round, your department is still able to apply for this new funding.

Webinars relating to this opportunity will be held starting next week. Information on the grant program and the webinars can be found at: and

Joseph Gonzales with “Paints By J" came by and presented the Beeville Fire Department with one of his paintings. He said he painted this for our heros that represent the thin red line. They are the ones that are running into a burning building when everyone else is running out. Thank you so much Joseph for this act of kindness. We appreciate it. 🚒💨

Big shout out to our very own BFD members for donating much needed water to our family to our South, Skidmore Volunteer Fire Dept.

Today, Tower 1 assisted the George West Police Dept. in trying to get their community emergency alert siren functioning again. The height was a little too tall to use a ground ladder. We were able to take Live Oak County Emergency Management Director up there to see if the problem could be resolved. Unfortunately the system will require further service to get it operational.

Beeville Fire Dept would like to give a big thank you to Conocophillips Eagle Ford Community Investment Committee for the generous grant which allowed us to purchase much needed new equipment, eight new helmets and two new bunker gear.

Skidmore Volunteer FireDepartment

Tonight SVFD received extrication tools recently purchased from Advanced Rescue Systems. The tools will better equip the department to handle vehicular rescues.

Captain Robyn Delgado discovered an old book her great grandmother had when she lived in Normanna, called The Historical Story of Bee County Texas by Camp Ezell. In it is an excerpt about the fire department. We may need to rename Tower 1 to Tower 2 since it’s the second ladder truck the city ever had lol. Very interesting article.

Rain bands will be felt this morning.
Stay safe

Wondering about potential impacts from Tropical Storm #Hanna?

Main threats:
- Heavy rainfall, up to 12" in some locations
- Winds gusting to hurricane force
- Minor coastal flooding

Take heed and prepare for wet weather this weekend
Will keep you updated

Wednesday, 7PM - INVEST 91L Update...

The National Hurricane Center now has a HIGH probability that that Invest 91L becomes organized prior to moving in to Texas this weekend. Whether this is a tropical depression or tropical storm is TBD.

Whether it is a tropical depression or storm, the primary threat will be heavy tropical downpours, leading to localized flooding. If it gets a name, it will be Hanna.

Forecast track will be critical to where the heaviest rain moves in and that is also still in question. In my opinion, it will move in between Corpus Christi and Houston sometime Saturday. Once a defined center is located, forecast models will have a better grasp on the future of this system.

Thank you Chris with Southern Tire Mart out of Victioia for getting out here so quickly to replace a couple of tires on our Beeville Fire Department Tanker 1 truck.

Getting organized 🚒💨😷

[07/22/20]   Update!!!!

Rockport Volunteer Fire Department

UPDATE as of Midnight:
Texas Forest Service and RVFD remain on scene creating fire breaks with heavy equipment and preparing for any possible additional spot fires that may occur throughout the night.

Please use extreme caution at the South end of the county today. We have multiple crews from multiple agencies out fighting a very large brush fire. Please avoid the areas as much as possible to help reduce traffic congestion. We are greatly appreciative of the allegiance EMS staff for helping keep our firefighters safe, and Aransas County sheriff's office for their assistance with traffic and maneuverability in the area. at this time I believe we have units from Rockport, Fulton, Lamar, Refugio, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, Portland, and Ingleside on scene. There may be others I'm not aware of. Please take a moment and lift all of these responders up in prayers. Is extremely hot and the fire conditions are growing more dangerous by the moment.

Just heading back from Aransas County fires.

Born for the Blaze When he was a child, Lee Riemenschneider dreamed of being a firefighter, and seven decades later it is still a role that is an important part of his life.

Chief Burris, congratulates FF Robert Arriola who has been recognized for the second quarter Firefighter award.
The award appropriately reflects the endless hours you have spent volunteering. Nice work!

Bexar County Fire Marshal/Office of Emergency Management

We are immensely heartbroken at the loss of one of our own, Kyle Coleman. He was a true responder at heart and had the best intentions to make our community and those around us a better and safer place. He had a profound impact across the state and country with over 45 years as a law enforcement officer and his response to numerous natural and man-made disasters as an Emergency Management Coordinator. We ask that you keep his family and all of us in your prayers as we navigate this difficult time.
