Morning crew spending some time relaxing and focusing on their breathing while resetting the nervous system before class starts. The only thing you can control is your breath. The breath calms the system, the breath can effect your emotions. Your breath can even change your movement patterns for the better almost instantly. I see it all the time. 5 breaths and suddenly the body operates better..... Sure, it’s not the end all be all to changing everything, but there might be something to this whole breathing thing. Heard it’s good for longevity too.... I mean if you’re not breathing..... 3-5min a day of focused breath work. If you can’t make the time for that, then do you really want to get better...? Progression is the name of the game. How are you making each exercise progressive? How do you take an exercise and make it challenging in new ways? Variety in training isn’t always having something new to focus on, but more so variations of the same exercise to spark new growth and connection. Random training for variety equals random results. Elysia working some #KettlebellMagic drills with her getup for both mobility and stability. No doubt this looks like a common exercise in the kettlebell world. Like many of the exercises and drills that we do at the Tao, sometimes it’s the fine details and the way in which we think about things that can make a huge difference in our results. A couple added movements and a slightly different focus and we can use this drill to unlock the neck and shoulders from one another. So often I see people operating from their hand rather than their core, and in the process end up sending most of that tension to their neck. And I’m not talking just the getup. I’m talking about seeing this when people are just simply using their hands in general.... And us as humans tend to use our hands a lot. So it may be important or even crucial to figure out how to connect the limbs/hands in this case and anything they pickup or grab into the core. Come in and try out one of our #FunctionalStrength or #KettlebellStrong classes and you’ll start finding new connections real quick.
