[01/14/20]   Skids:

Rear-wheel skids: Continue to look at your path of travel down the road. Steer in the direction you want the front of your vehicle to go. Avoid slamming on the brakes, this will only further upset the vehicles balance making it harder to regain control. When the rear wheels stop skidding, continue to steer to avoid a rear wheel skid in the opposite direction.

Front wheel skids: Continue to look where you want to go. Steer in the direction you want the front of the vehicle to go. Avoid slamming on the brakes. Wait for front wheels to gain traction again, as soon as traction returns vehicle will steer again. When front wheels regain their grip, steer the wheels gently in the desired direction of travel .

Avoid skids by not braking or accelerating hard and being aware of slick surfaces.

[01/14/20]   Tips for driving in the snow:🚗❄🌨

1. Stay home if you can.
2. Drive slowly. You have less traction on snow and ice.
3. Accelerate and Decelerate slowly. Apply gas slowly to regain traction and avoid skids.
4. Increase following distance to at least five seconds.
5. Don't power up hills. Applying too much gas will just make your wheels spin. Try to gain inertia before your reach the hill, and let that inertia carry you to the top. Try not to stop while going up hills.
6. Keep your heel on the floor and use the ball of your foot to apply slow steady pressure when you need to brake.
7. Use your lights!
