Town Hall is now preparing Welcome Kits for new families that are moving into our community.

Our Welcome Kits feature and direct these new families to a small number of local businesses for the goods, services & professionals that they need to find.

Since our Welcome Kits are exclusive, and we can only accommodate one Day Care/Pre-School Center, I would ask you to kindly let me know if you are interested in being the featured Day Care Facility in our local Welcome Kits.

It is worthy to note that, according to Dr. Cathy Goodwin in her book “Making the Big Move”, 33% of new residents and families seek out a new Child Care Center shortly after their relocation. As such, approximately 1 out of 3 recipients of our Welcome Kits are actively seeking a new Child Care Center.

Please reply to this message with your availability or call me at your earliest convenience.

For a faster response, or if you prefer, feel free to text me on my cell which is listed in my signature.

Thanks.

Week of the Young Child is off to a great start with Music Monday! Our infants to school agers did a variety of music activities throughout the day! They created their own instruments, played musical chairs, drew to music and listened to music of different genres! Through music, children develop math, language and literacy skills, all while having fun!

Don’t forget tomorrow is Tasty Tuesday so make sure your kiddos are ready for some yummy activities!

04/10/2021

Join us April 10-16 in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Week of the Young Child®!

The Week of the Young Child® is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

The purpose of the Week of the Young Child® is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

NAEYC first established the Week of the Young Child® in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years (birth through age 8) lay the foundation for children's success in school and later life.

Our school is here to help children THRIVE in elementary school and beyond!

Respect is an important lesson to teach children, especially when they are still young and impressionable. It’s important for children to respect their friends, teachers, parents, and even themselves! Otherwise, they could unintentionally hurt others, get into trouble, or even become shy and reserved.

Luckily, there are fun ways to teach children about respect!

Our pre-k class took advantage of the beautiful weather today, and took their math activity outside! The children did a car color tally mark activity. They were given a specific car color, then went on a short walk outside to look for the car color they were given. Once they saw the car color, they wrote the tally marks on a piece of construction paper.

The children used the ascend math skill: Represent 0-20 using tally marks.

In honor of Read Across America Week, we will be posting a few of our favorite classroom books. Today's final book feature is “Last Stop on Market Street”.
“Last Stop on Market Street” highlights diversity of people and their circumstances. The young boy featured in this story, CJ, is full of questions for his nana about his surroundings. His nana is always ready with an answer to help CJ find the beauty in the world around him. This book won a Caldecott honor as well as a Newbery medal in 2016 and for good reason!

03/04/2021

“Freight Train” by Donald Crews is the perfect way for kids 0-4 to explore and review colors. Kids will enjoy the brightly colored train cars and seeing what’s inside. This classic story won the Caldecott Honor in 1979 and hasn’t lost it’s charm yet!

To celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday yesterday, our friends wore Cat in the Hat hats and participated in several different Dr. Seuss themed activities throughout the day! At the end of the day, all friends received a Dr. Seuss goody bag to take home!

03/03/2021

In honor of Read Across America week, we are featuring our favorite books! Today's feature is "There Is A Bird on Your Head!"

Mo Willem’s Elephant and Piggie series is a newer group of stories that is a great option for emerging readers ages 4-8. The stories simplify many serious issues that children encounter while growing up- sharing, patience, friendships, sadness, and many more. The lighthearted and adorable illustrations keep children interested and the books are full of familiar words that new readers can pick out.

03/02/2021

Jan Brett has many amazing children’s stories but “The Mitten” stands out as very memorable. From the intricate and beautiful illustrations to Brett’s amazing way with words, this story transports 3–6-year-old children into a winter wonderland while introducing wild animals and putting sizes into perspective for kids. If you haven’t read this book with your kids yet, we recommend you do right away!

📚📖 Happy Read Across America Day! 📖📚

03/01/2021

In honor of Read Across America Week, we will be posting a few of our favorite classroom books. Today's feature is “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”, one of my personal favorites!

“Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” is a classic story that makes learning the Alphabet a fun and interactive experience! This book is directed to children ages 1-4 but is an enjoyable read for adults too. The repetition and cadence of this book make it an excellent book for young readers.

This week our friends in preschool 2 are learning about the body from head to toe. During their morning meeting, the children did a variety of stretches and exercises to stretch out their arms, legs, and torso, and to get their bodies moving. After, they played a pointing game to identify different parts of the body.

Once the children reviewed the parts of the body, they created a collage using pre-cut magazine photos of different body parts. As they were creating their collages, they were encouraged to say/identify the parts of the body that they saw.

The children used the following skills:
Science and Sensory Skill:
1. Begin to recognize major body parts and what they do (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, arms, legs, hands, feet).
Physical Fitness Skills:
1. Complete simple stretches.
2. Complete simple exercises (arm circles, leg lifts, sprints).
