Loudoun County Public Schools
A Lifetime network and Variety magazine special on frontline heroes featured a pair of sisters from Broad Run High School with a long history of making a difference in our community.
Shreyaa Venkat, a 2020 graduate, and Esha Venkat, a rising sophomore, were featured in “Variety’s Power of Women: Frontline Heroes.” The show, which aired June 25 on Lifetime and Variety’s page, celebrated “the courageous women on the frontlines of the pandemic--including doctors, nurses, teachers, researchers among others--who are putting themselves at risk to make a difference and working towards finding a solution in this crisis.” The program was directed by Heather Ross and hosted by Robin Roberts of “Good Morning America.”
Shreyaa and Esha created NEST4US, a local nonprofit, four years ago. NEST stands for a “Newer Environment Starts Today.” Initially, their goal was to provide a means of addressing hunger by channeling excess food from those who had too much to those in need. With support and mentoring from other leaders, Shreyaa and Esha transformed a family passion for participating in community service into a non-profit organization that now:
• Has rescued more than 12,000 pounds of food;
• Has more than 550 volunteers;
• Has conducted more than 225 volunteer events; and
• Has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including a profile in People magazine earlier this summer.

Wishing the best of luck to Sabrina Sokol who is off tomorrow to Plebe Summer at the US Naval Academy. We know you will make your family proud! ❤️😁🇺🇸
Congratulations to Emily "Kuzy" Kuzel on being named the Class of 2020's salutatorian!!
Broad Run High School graduated 390 members of the Class of 2020 from June 8 through June 10 under the portico at the front of the school. There were 10 stations that guided the graduates through the high school to the graduation site and beyond. In the library, graduates had the opportunity to take their photo with life-size cutouts of Principal David Spage, Dr. Anthony Fauci and LCPS Public Information Officer Wayde Byard. Graduates received their diploma from Mr. Spage under the portico and then were able to take photos with their family at the school’s marquee and in front of the “Go Spartans” fence in the football stadium. Ishyan Veluppillai was the student speaker, as chosen by a faculty panel. Kesean Dyson was the Faculty Scholarship recipient. Victoria Ok is the valedictorian for the Class of 2020 and Emily Kuzel the salutatorian.

Like Coach Meg always says, "A body in motion..." Work with the motion and keep your feet moving!
It takes an unimaginable amount of energy to launch a rocket into space. The Falcon 9 rocket from Space X weighs 1.2 million pounds (549 thousand kilograms) and generates more than 1.7 million pounds of thrust at sea level.
When you launch a rocket, you want to make sure it keeps going. This is how I look at everything in life. Too often, we only think about starting something in life. We start a business, a new job, a YouTube channel, or a new habit without giving much thought to what happens after we start.
The reason is that starting is hard. It requires a lot of energy. And when we get over the start, we often burn all our fuel. Imagine if Space X designed a rocket that launched perfectly but would burn out somewhere before it reached orbit. Everything would come crashing down.
And yet, that’s how most of us operate in life. But why expend so much energy to get yourself moving only to crash down later?
Instead of working against Newton’s laws, work with it, especially the third law, also known as the law of momentum.
This states that an object will keep moving in the same direction unless it’s influenced by an external force. This has two consequences:
1. It’s easier to keep a moving object in motion
2. It’s harder to stop a moving object in motion
The first one is obvious. The second implication of the law of momentum is often neglected in business, careers, productivity, and habit building. If you keep up your momentum, you’re more likely to keep going because you’re difficult to stop.
And There They Went. We are so proud of our (former!) seniors and hope they had an amazing time at Broad Run High School and as members of the Broad Run Varsity Field Hockey team. We are so proud of you all and will miss you tons! Good luck in college 😁🏑❤️💛🎉🎓
Sophomore goalie Brigitte’s 16th birthday was on Wednesday - we were glad to have been there to help her celebrate! The day after she had reconstructive knee surgery that had been postponed twice due to the pandemic. We know surgery is not what she wanted for her birthday, but we know she has been eager for it so she can start her recovery in hopes to get on the field this fall. Wishing Brigitte a speedy recovery - and lots of ice cream!
We’ve come to our final installment of TTGT and who better to sprint to the finish line but senior Sabrina Sokol! Sabrina has been a member of the Varsity Field Hockey team for just two years and her quickness was an undeniable asset. Not only is she a Varsity Track star but she is also one of the fastest runners in the country! Sabrina will be taking her talents to the U. S. Naval Academy this fall where she will be studying chemistry and continuing her running career as a member of the Midshipmen track team. We wish her the best as she trains to represent our Country. Congratulations! 💙💛🎉🇺🇸🥇🧪🔬👟
There’s no stopping us from wishing this brick wall a very Happy Sweet 16! Hope you have a wonderful day with lots of surprises, Brigitte! 🎉❤️💛🏑🥍🎂😁💯🎈🎁
