Since age nine, I have been infatuated with the human physique. Being a skinny kid, I always wanted to build muscle. By the age of twelve, I had changed my eating habits as well as my families, which resulted in a healthier lifestyle for us all. At the age of fifteen, I was allowed to lift weights and I have not looked back since! Learning the Bigger, Faster, Stronger program from Coach Singleton at Oakland Mills High in Columbia Maryland, I utilized the basics and began formatting my own programs to benefit myself. Earning Varsity letters since a sophomore in football, basketball and track helped me earn a scholarship as a walk-on to Delaware State University, a historically black college in Dover, Delaware. Those same philosophies, hard work, and discipline transitioned from the field to the classroom, and I graduated with a Bachelors in Science. In 2001, I was the 5th round draft choice to the Washington Redskins. I realized that being an athlete was a lifestyle and that I love teaching that lifestyle to others. I have been coaching and personal training for over a decade, certified through the National Council on Strength and Fitness. Being a personal trainer and coach is the perfect career for me. I get to put all my passions for learning sports and fitness to work at the same time. Unlike my competitors, my motivation is to teach positive habits focusing on the day-to-day lifestyle changes, which takes out the anxiety of chasing numbers. The goal is to build muscle, not to lose weight. The more muscle you build, the more fat the body metabolizes. Emphasizing form and technique in the weight room is just as important and prevents personal injury.
