Postpartum MOMโ€™S please WATCH this. Letโ€™s talk DRA (Diastasis recti abdominis) You will see that when she does the first sit up I can get two finger between the rectus abdominis due to the fascia stretching which is considered a DRA at the Belly button HOWEVER..... watch the 2nd time I cue her to do a sit up and change her strategy. What happens? With DRA I care more about depth and NOT how many fingers I can fit in the abdominal separation. why? Because as you can see this person can โ€œcontrol her pressureโ€ and I wonโ€™t be worried about her having a hernia later on because I donโ€™t see any doming or coning happening and I feel back pressure against my finger which is a good thing. So if you are thinking: 1. I have to get my abs back together to get rid of the mom pooch 2. To get a six pack, my abs need to come back together 3. I need this โ€œgapโ€ to close so my organs donโ€™t come out. 4. I have discomfort in my abdominal region and it just feels like things are not supporting me. MAYBE we should be evaluating how the other abdominal muscles are functioning ( like the transverse abdominis, external and internal obliques and the pelvic floor muscles) and how they work together. With all my postpartum moms I do an abdominal assessment to understand how the whole system is working and then incorporate baby and daily activities into treatment to get the full picture of how the abdominals are functioning. If you have any questions you can always ask but I wanted to provide real researched based evidence to you all. Hope this helps someone.

I wanted to give you all an idea of the latest research that is out for Postpartum and returning to running. This is a progression... Everyone is different but this at least gives you researched-based guidelines on when to return back to running. Hope this helps someone. Side Note: some people can even begin to start to "workout" at 3 weeks post-birth but talk with a medical professional before starting.

I have just started on this journey and I already see noticeable changes in my weight and body fat and I hope to get better, faster and stronger as days go by. Sometimes, โ€œhealthyโ€ isnโ€™t as simple as we think it is. Take this photo for exampleโ€”specifically, check out the difference in macronutrients between these 2 plates. The plate on the right is approx. 400+ calories ๐Ÿ˜ฒ, and the plate on the left is LESS THAN 200!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
The difference in macros? FAT AND PROTEIN CONTENT. Apples, almonds, and almond butter are certainly considered healthy and weโ€™d much prefer youโ€™d eat this plate over a cupcake - but at the end of the day, all macros aside, calories DO matter in your weight loss journey. Macronutrients are simply another (and in our opinion better way) to look at your calories by understanding the nutritional value of your food.
This comparison shows that tracking your food emphasizes 2 very important things:
1๏ธโƒฃ PORTION SIZE: If you cut what looks like nearly 4 tablespoons of almond butter to only 2, youโ€™d save A LOT of calories and your fat macros (if youโ€™re someone who loves ๐Ÿฅ‘, thatโ€™s VERY important)
2๏ธโƒฃ EDUCATION: If you didnโ€™t plug either of these snacks into My Fitness Pal or another food tracker, and honestly weigh/portion them out too, you really wouldnโ€™t know your caloric intake... which might explain why you โ€œthinkโ€ youโ€™ve reached a weight loss โ€œplateau.โ€ Chances are youโ€™re consuming more calories than youโ€™re burning ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
