The school is open 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you come during the school day, you will need to show your driver's license and check into the office for a visitor badge.

Eyeglasses are in the front office and other items are in the hallway outside the gym.

Legacy Elementary PTO - Watch D.O.G.S.

Watch D.O.G.S. We will be asking mainly for dads of K-2 students, due to SOLs in the upper grades.

If dads of older students want to volunteer, they definitely can, but we are asking that they either sign up on a day when their child is not taking an SOL, or they will need to understand that they might not get to volunteer in their child’s room due to testing.

The Legacy PTO is searching for a co-secretary for next school year. This person is responsible for compiling the weekly lab notes email and posting occasionally to Facebook. The regular work can easily be completed from home and you can set your schedule. Without dedicated volunteers filling all the roles on the PTO Board we cannot give our children all of the wonderful PTO sponsored resources and events they love. We count on our amazing volunteers working in concert with our fabulous teachers and administrators to help Legacy be the best. Please consider volunteering for this important role. If interested please contact Tara Navarro at [email protected].

Legacy: Inclusive School with Outstanding Systemic Support and Acceptance

[05/15/19]   Good evening Legacy Families,

My name is Kirsten O’Hara and it is my pleasure to announce that the Loudoun County School Board has appointed me to become the next Principal of Legacy Elementary. I have been serving students in Loudoun County for my entire 20-year career in education. It was my privilege to serve as the Assistant Principal of Round Hill Elementary for the past 15 years. During that time, I had the opportunity to foster a strong community of learners, establish many district initiatives, and facilitate the development of a computer science immersion school. Before going to Round Hill Elementary, I taught Special Education at Farmwell Station Middle School and then taught second, third and fifth grades at Sully Elementary.

Relationships with staff, students and families are very important to me and I look forward to building those with all of you in the weeks and months to come. I truly believe that we must work together to maintain an environment where all children can be successful. As I look to the future, I pledge to work alongside you and our staff to build a strong legacy of engaged learners that will be successful in their future endeavors.

I will officially assume my duties as your new principal on Tuesday, May 28, but can be contacted before that time at [email protected].

Volunteer with TEALS

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is seeking volunteers to help with its TEALS (Technology Education and Literacy in Schools) program.

For the past several years, the TEALS program has placed professionals from the technology industry into Loudoun County high schools to work with Loudoun’s computer science teachers to drive increased enrollment and excitement and bring real industry experience into the classroom. Learn about the computer science talent gap, why it’s an important issue for the high-tech economy, and how you can get involved to help teach computer science to high school students. By the end of this session, you’ll know specific steps you can take with the TEALS program to create more opportunities for young people to experience and learn computer science in Loudoun County.

An information session is scheduled to provide interested participants an introduction to the TEALS program, the role of TEALS volunteers in LCPS Computer Science classrooms, and how interested participants can apply to be a TEALS volunteer. The information session is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14 from 7:00PM – 8:00PM in Ashburn VA (LCPS Administration Building, 21000 Education Ct, Ashburn, VA 20148). To register for the information sessions, please RSVP here.

Visit www.tealsk12.org to learn more. Volunteer at www.tealsk12.org/volunteers.

tealsk12.org Local high schools need your help to start a computer science program! If you have a CS background, please consider volunteering with TEALS to co-teach a CS class, and help train a classroom teacher.
