I was told that you're starting to have Saturday evening services? Is this true? If so, what time does it start?

Our desire is that everyone - whether they enter our doors or not - would discover the sacredness of their own story, celebrate their spirituality, and fully enjoy an everyday life with God.

God is everywhere, in everything, and with you every day. Crossroads is a community that intentionally celebrates and extends God’s unlimited welcome and unconditional love to people both inside and outside the walls of a church building. Our desire is that everyone - whether they enter our doors or not - would discover the sacredness of their own story, celebrate their spirituality, and fully enjoy an everyday life with God. We are equally passionate about and committed to two forms that help us pursue our vision: one is the ministries centered here at Crossroads Drive, and the other we call “Imagine”. Through Imagine we meet in restaurants, bars, coffee shops, homes, yoga studios and in nature with people who have no interest in coming to a church building. We call this a “Both/And” church and through these two forms we are empowered to offer God’s radical grace and love in ways that enable people both inside and outside the walls to change the world one person, one family, and one community at a time.

Matthew 17:20 “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

Morning Prayer: God, on this ordinary day, it seems hard to believe that my faith could move mountains. In the busyness and struggle of everyday life, it can feel challenging to even climb the hill in front of me! I imagine a mountain- strong and ancient, imposing and beautiful, able to withstand any weather, season, or time. But while mountains project all their majesty and I sit here feeling as small as a mustard seed, I can rest with hope knowing that I am created in the image of God. I am designed to have a kind of faith that empowers me to love and serve the world! When I live into that hope, my acts of faith can ignite and shine out beyond what I ever thought was possible.

Morning Focus: Hope comes by believing that even though you cannot always do great things, you can do small things with great love. Your small acts of kindness, compassion and service open the door of hope in you and for the world.

John 6:7-11 “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!” Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?” “Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people.

Morning Prayer: God, I have heard this story since I was a small child and continue to marvel at it even as my understanding of it has grown and evolved. In the midst of a crowd of 5000+ one young boy has the courage and faith to step up and offer up his meager amount of food. What was going through his mind? In his innocence did he believe that what he had would make a difference? Lord help me to draw on this example of believing that whatever I have to offer can make a difference. Even if my offerings of my time, my talents or my gifts seems meager, they can and will make a difference. Instead of saying it is too much, what I can offer is too little, let me have the faith and the courage to offer it up to You and to others. May it be so.

Morning Focus: Hope comes by believing that even though you cannot always do great things, you can do small things with great love. Your small acts of kindness, compassion, and service open the door of hope in you and in the world.

II Timothy 1:7 God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Morning Prayer: God, I am grateful for Your powerful spirit of love that is within me. When my human fears and anxieties could overwhelm me, I can always go inward and draw on that deep core of strength and love to calm my fears and help me to move forward. Help me to remember in moments of weakness that You are always with me. Help me to exercise the self-control to resist fear and to remain positive and hopeful every day. May it be so.

Morning Focus: Hope comes by believing that even though you cannot always do great things, you can do small things with great love. Your small acts of kindness, compassion and service open the door of hope in you and in the world.

Luke 13:18-19 Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? How can I illustrate it? It is like a tiny mustard seed that a man planted in a garden; it grows and becomes a tree, and the birds make nests in its branches.

Morning Prayer: God, I find myself drawn to conclusions. I tend to want the end result before even thinking about how I might get there. I want a life of joy and purpose. I want there to be a kindom of Your love, where there’s room for everyone. My problem is I want it now. Yet what I am reading in today’s scripture is that to get there it all starts small. While marveling at a big oak tree I should remember that the real miracle of the tree is not it’s size, but that it was birthed by the power of a small acorn. While wanting Your vast kindom of acceptance and love to be realized by others, I have to realize that it begins in me with small acts of kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. May I be a mustard seed of hope today. Help me to trust that Your kindom has come, and that through my small acts of kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and love others will feel safe, welcomed and loved. In this prayer, I find renewed hope. May it be so all day long.

Morning Focus: Hope comes by believing that even though you cannot always do great things, you can do small things with great love. Your small acts of kindness, compassion and service open the door of hope in you and in the world.

Psalm 46:1,10a God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble…. So be still and know that I am God.

Morning Prayer: God, thank you for always being there for me even when I’m unaware of Your presence. There are times I get so caught up in the events of the day, or a situation with my family, or my job, or just overwhelmed by the seemingly endless barrage of current events focused on all that is wrong with the world that I lose sight of all that is good, inspiring, and hopeful. Remind me, God to begin my day with You in meditative silence, centering and setting my intention simply by just breathing, turning everything over to You. You bless me in so many ways. You are at the heart of everyone and everything and that gives me great hope. When I look for it, I find it and I am inspired to do what I can to contribute to all that is good. May it always be so.

Morning Focus: Just one minute of centering time every day can change your perspective and give you renewed hope. Take sixty seconds to center yourself for the day by breathing in a deep breath and saying, “Today, I will choose hope”. Slowly release your breath while saying, “To be my guide”.

Matthew 6:25, 27 Do not be anxious about your life… Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

Morning Prayer: God, today’s scripture is easy to read, even easy to understand that no, worries don’t add anything to my life. I just wish it was as easy to live into these words. I do have anxieties: With a multitude of challenges in my personal life am I able to give my full attention to my work? Or conversely, is my work keeping me from being present to my friends and family? Am I taking time for my own self-care? Unproductive anxious thoughts, and thinking them only add to the anxiety. One thing I do know is that if I just carve out some time each day to sit and be with You, I can release some of the anxieties. It can be as easy as sitting in silence listening for You, reminding myself of Your love for me, reminding myself that in the midst of any challenges I face, You are with me always. May it be so.

Morning Focus: Just one minute of centering time every day can change your perspective and give you hope. Take sixty seconds to center yourself for the day by breathing in a deep breath and saying, “Today, I will choose hope”. Slowly release your breath while saying, “To be my guide”.

Psalm 56:3-4 When I am afraid, I put my trust in God. In God, I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?

Morning Prayer: God, I trust that all things come through You. If You are for me, whom shall I fear? Living this way is a difficult proposition as I walk through my daily life and challenges. When so many unknown things cloud my mind and I think I have to figure them out myself I can feel very afraid. I pray that You help me to find ways to strengthen my faith and belief, that I remember all of the blessings and miracles I have seen and experienced. I pray that we can all take comfort in Your goodness and power and know that all will be well. May it be so.

Morning Focus: Just one minute of centering time every day can change your perspective and give you renewed hope. Take sixty seconds to center yourself for the day by breathing in a deep breath and saying, “Today, I will choose hope”. Slowly release your breath while saying, “To be my guide”.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Morning Prayer: God, I am in awe at the power of Your creation and the loving intent of Your guiding hand. Sometimes, I can fall into the trap of seeing the world through a lens of fear, of differences and division, of anger and hurt. But this is not the view You want me or others to take. The life of Jesus set a transformative example of what can happen when I see the world through a different lens. A lens of hope, of connection and community, of peace and healing. May I have this perspective throughout this day, so that my everyday life will become one of service, compassion, and reconciliation.

In case you missed it, Dave was on the news regarding the recent UMC proposal.

I John 4:18 There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.

Morning Prayer: God, as many times as scripture tells me to fear not, the reality is that I do fear. I have fears about big stuff like what is going on in our world and fears about what is going on in my own life. I carry a fear that in my personal relationships with family and friends or in my work life I can’t measure up to expectations, even when those expectations are ones I put on myself. Sometimes I feel like I am simply pretending to be competent, and my fear is that others will see through this pretense and know my failures. So my prayer is that when those fears well up and begin to overwhelm me, I step back and be reminded of how much You love me. You know me inside and out and love me unconditionally. In Your love I know that I will overcome those fears.

SPREAD THE WORD! :)

Psalm 139:14 Thank you, God, for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

Morning Prayer: God, I am amazed by the wondrous complexity of all of life. Indeed all of creation is marvelous. I am grateful for the gift of life that I may experience all of it. I am especially grateful for the miraculous, self-renewing power of all creation, including myself. As I move deeper into the new year I want to be even more respectful of the gifts of creation, and be more mindful of my responsibility to care for it to the best of my ability. Help me to discover new ways to practice self-care and have my eyes opened to the many different ways I can care for all species and for the well being of our planet. These are my gifts of gratitude to You for the gift of Your marvelous gift of life and unconditional love.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Morning Prayer: Fear. I know it very well. Whom shall I fear? Of what shall I be afraid? Honestly, at times the lists are long. Even though I read that You are my salvation and You are my strength, I can still be afraid. God, I need You to help me to fear less often and to trust You more often. Help me to know that no matter if my fears are perceived or real, You are my guide. You are the one who leads to unwavering hope. So today, my intent is to not let fear guide me. Instead, I will choose the hope that You offer to be my guide. I will remember how You have been my salvation and strength in the past. By looking back to see how You have always been with me, I can look forward with hope because Your salvation and strength are the same yesterday, today and forever.

Colossians 3:10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like God.

Morning Prayer: This verse is timely, God, offered for my contemplation at the start of a new year, a new decade. Help me to live my intention to start every day, taking what I’ve learned and come to know from my spiritual journey thus far, and then mirror as best I can the example set by Jesus to live and breathe with love. Love of self, love of others. It seems so simple, but God, I find it at times so difficult to practice. Jesus truly loves everyone. God help me, I do not. There are people in this world, in my life, whose words and behavior sometimes take my breath away. Help me to “love the person, not the behavior.” I trust, with your help, God, the more I put into practice Jesus’ example, the better I am able to live my daily intention. When I stumble? I will simply start my day over and begin anew with you, Jesus, as my guide. May it always be so.

Morning Focus: A new day is here ripe with endless possibilities to live as Jesus lived. Open your heart without definition to receive and respond as the moments arise.

Isaiah 41:13 I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand, it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

Morning Prayer: God, what encouraging words to wake up to. Words I need to hear, when I wake up to news cycles that can create fear in me. We are in the midst of tumultuous times and it is all too easy to get caught up in a cycle of fear of what the future holds. But the words in this scripture reassure me. You are with me always, I can cling to You and to the hope You bring for the future. I can live into the newness of my own life. In my own home and family, in my own community help me to model the love and grace of Jesus. Help me create a culture of love and peace among my own family and friends, in my own community. This I can do because You are with me; Your love and grace are bigger than all of the conflicts in the world. May it be so.

Morning Focus: Wake up to the reminder that God is with you in the midst of anything you might face today. God’s love is bigger than all of your fears. In God all things are new.

Ephesians 4:22-24 Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life… and be renewed in the spirit of your minds and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God.

Morning Prayer: God, as wake I can many times feel as if I have not fully adjusted to my new self. I feel as if I am still in the world of my old life. I then remember the work that I have done to get closer to You and I pray and meditate and feel the comfort of Your goodness. Help me to awaken every day in my new life, excited for the journey that is now modeled in Your likeness and love. May it be so.

Morning Focus: When I adjust my focus on the goodness of God and walk in the ways of Jesus, I will find comfort in knowing that all will be well. I will be an example of God’s love for all.

Philippians 3:13-14 One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal... the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Morning Prayer: God, this verse paints an inspiring image of leaving the past and pursuing the future with clarity, focus and steadfast drive to the perfect call You have for me. Yet I know it is not an easy pivot, but instead an arduous trek. I know Your relentless love for me. I trust in Your call to a transformed life of compassion, forgiveness, service, and wisdom, as modeled by the life of Jesus. And I am so grateful that I am also called to rely on You in every step towards all that lies ahead. To listen for Your voice that comes in a variety of ways and remain obedient to Your direction in the beautiful, easy times, and the dark and heartbreaking ones as well. What a gift it is to know that I am never called to anything alone and that You are always with me! May I perceive You today.

Morning Focus: As you press on toward the culminating goal of God’s calling, and the smaller goals of today, make it a priority to seek out and abide in God’s comforting presence of love through it all.
