Sponsored by Loudoun OMS, Greater Loudoun Study Club is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the practice of comprehensive clinical dentistry.
Greater Loudoun Study Club is an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club. "Seattle Study Club, Inc. is an international network of doctors interested in furthering their knowledge to provide excellent care to each and every patient that comes into their practice. There are over 250 clubs in the network located in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Japan, China and Spain. Each club meets regularly for interactive educational programs, discussion on the latest developments in dentistry and presentations by world-renowned clinical speakers. These meetings provide a forum for each member doctor to discuss and plan cases with the collective knowledge of the entire group. We are often asked what makes this organization so special. For all of us who are part of the network it’s clear, but also difficult to articulate. It’s easy to touch on the typical highlights of what we do, list the tangible tools we provide and talk about the national events, but none of that really gets to the core of why we do this or why the network has grown from Dr. Cohen’s original club to over 250 clubs around the world over the past 20 years. The Seattle Study Club organization provides all sorts of tangible tools to manage a study club, but that isn’t what makes this particular network so special. We provide the knowledge and support to join our existing “university without walls” as well as create one on your own in your community, but that’s not the only thing that makes us special either. We work every day to help our members strengthen their practices, enhance relationships with peers and increase impact on the dental community. We generate dozens of new ideas every year to help our members accomplish their goals. Our local clubs offer educational experiences that exceed the highest expectations of excellence. Clinicians within the Seattle Study Club organization are motivated to learn more and achieve a higher level of comprehensive care for their patients. The Seattle Study Club network is a true university without walls, providing so much more than continuing education for dentists—we cultivate knowledge, understanding, collaboration and camaraderie and, together, we continue to impact the way dentistry is practiced. These intangible benefits elevate the Seattle Study Club network to a level that goes way beyond traditional continuing educational programs in dentistry (Seattle Study Club website)".
Mission: Mission Statement: The Greater Loudoun Study Club is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the practice of comprehensive clinical dentistry. The club will provide a forum for interactive learning in which ideas can be shared among colleagues for mutual benefit. We will focus on a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and will strive to learn from and be encouraging to one another as we endeavor to achieve our potential as clinicians. Educational Goals: - To make everyone better at treatment planning - To improve the level of dentistry in the community over time - To provide a source for the “state of the art” by developing didactic and clinical sessions in dentistry to familiarize participants not only with what is possible, but also with what is becoming the most acceptable choice of treatment - To establish a resource center for the GP which allows them to call on the advisory board and on each other for advice and help on cases - To generate interest in learning by treatment planning other dentist’s cases and following up and critiquing those cases throughout treatment - To utilize the Seattle Study Club (SSC) resources and participate with publications and educational opportunities provided by the SSC
