Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton
This morning I visited River Bend Middle School, and—as a lawyer and legislator—I had had a blast speaking with the students about constructing persuasive arguments for the legislation they’re writing in class. Good arguments are how we write good laws!
Later in the afternoon, I visited Forest Grove Elementary School to learn about the Loudoun County School Nutrition Services program. Dr. Becky Domokos-Bays, who heads the program, has been named Director of the Year by the School Nutrition Association.
Loudoun County School Nutrition Services is providing students in #VA10 with fresh, nutritious meals at school, and it makes a real difference for our kids—I’m grateful for their hard work and leadership.
Our team at Forest Grove Elementary School had special visitor, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, stop by just in time to see the colorful spread of locally grown fruit being served for #LCPSLunch!

Our "Eat the Rainbow" nutrition education lesson is one of the most requested lessons by our teachers. We use fruit and veggies to talk to students about nutrients and how consuming a variety of foods helps to provide them with the vitamins and minerals they need to grow and develop!
Does promoting a "rainbow" concept really work? "Read the latest research on how a sensory-based pilot food education program, “Rainbow Food Heroes," may influence children to increase fruit and vegetable consumption in the Spring 2019 issue of the Journal of Child Nutrition & Management, which also tackles topics related to scheduling recess before lunch, promoting farm-to-school produce to students, and food traceability systems. #ChildNutrition #EatTheRainbow
