The latest from the Town of Leesburg.
Town crews are getting caught up on primary roads and have 18 of the 32 plows heading to residential streets as of 1:40 p.m.
All crews have been put on snow clearing detail and contractor support has been called in.
Patriot has suspended trash collection for the rest of the day. They will finish SW tomorrow and pick up SE on Saturday.
The Town currently has eight trucks on the road, with plows and spreaders, along with four additional trucks with just plows.
Crews are focusing on primary roads first and are currently working on King Street, Sycolin Road, Plaza Street, and the Bypass. They are pushing snow and salting.
On top of this effort, we had four leaf vacuum trucks out in the neighborhoods this morning as we understand this is peak season. However, at this time, the collection has been stopped due to the difficulty.
Patriot Disposal is collecting trash, as scheduled, in the SW section of Town. They are moving slower for safety considerations so collection may run a little late.
Tonight's Planning Commission meeting has been canceled including all afternoon Parks and Recreation classes. Check back for more updates as they will continue throughout the day.
