The Quilting Cow

The Quilting Cow

A cheerful, happy, crafty place where scraps and love are turned into something beautiful for yourself, your home, or a friend.

When a long time babysitter asked me to make her a tote from her favorite blanket, I was thrilled to try something new!

A little trial and error, a bit of seam ripping, but look at the finished product.

It's fully lined, and has a magnetic closure. The straps are long enough to do crossbody, or shoulder.

Whatcha think?? Should The Quilting Cow make some more blanket bags??

Trinity House Café

Local friends, I hope you will take the opportunity to visit this special place!

Trinity Cafe in downtown Leesburg has wonderful food (the tomato sausage panini is my favorite!), yummy hot and cold drinks, and a warm, comfortable atmosphere.

The Cafe also showcases local artists, and The Quilting Cow loves being there!

There are new buntings, napkins, children's hooded towels, and more. Check it out!

The Quilting Cow has added some new items to the Trinity House Cafe shelves! Stop by and look around; there is something new around every corner. 101 E. Market St., Leesburg, VA

Loved giving these to my beautiful MOPS friends❤️. We received a copy of Steph Fink's fantastic book, The Blessed Juggle, so hopefully these bookmarks will get some use!

Need some gifts? Book club, school staff, etc? I would love to make a set for you, too! Send me a message and we can make it happen 😍

Who doesn't need a way to contain all those little toys?! Legos, toy cars, whatever!!

I loved making this playmat for an old friend and her precious little one!

It cinches up for easy transport, and keeps all those toys in one place!

Teachers are amazing. Bottom line.

To honor teachers this month, I will be giving current teachers 50% off my lanyards.

Parents, grab a few of these lanyards and clip a gift card on it- a thoughtful, useful and CUTE gift for your favorite educator.

More coming all the time, lots and lots of fabrics to choose from.

LOVED giving this quilt to my precious niece, Phoebe. I hope it is used, loved, and something she cherishes forever!

Do you have a special little one in your life? Or maybe one coming soon? Let's talk about making an heirloom together!

Love this set of three burp cloths; they're a little but Western, a little bit patriotic, and an easy, perfect baby gift! $15

Little fabric carrots can be displayed as a trio or separately. $8

[03/18/17]   Raleigh folks! I will be in town next week and would love to deliver any Quilting Cow items to you!

Message me with your orders, and I'll be updating with more spring decor and baby items throughout the weekend.

As always, thank you for supporting a (very!) small, local business!

I am looking forward to delivering this set of dinner napkins to a client in Leesburg!

This was a custom order, and were repurposed from old dress shirts.

This is the best type of recycling!

Want something similar? Just send me a message!

Best news of the day: a group of bunnies is called a "fluffle."

A fluffle! Of course it is!

And even though it is snowing outside here in Northern Virginia, I have some fluffles for you!

Get ready for Easter and spring with these fluffle mantle decorations. You can also use them on a wall, door opening, or window.

Like the idea but not the colors shown? Let me know and I'll make one just for you!

New little creations! Let me make a custom banner for your next party, or simply to decorate a little one's room.

Each set is handmade, and can be rolled up for easy transport. Throw it in a purse for restaurant entertainment! $12

Happy 2017!

(Can I still wish that to you, even in mid-February?!)

The year has already been a busy one for me, my little family, and the Cow, but has had many happy moments. I'll be updating the group pictures to highlight some of these sewing adventures.

Most recently, and biggest in our world, this pumpkin turned 3! We celebrated with pancakes and pajamas, so I took a break from quilts to make matching pajama bottoms and tic tac toe games.

Stay tuned for more fun additions!

Small businesses gotta support each other, right?! So when I ordered some ornaments from Barbara and had a great experience, I thought I should share! Take a sec to look at her Etsy shop and see if anyone on your Christmas list would like some of her handmade sweetness.

Don't tell Soph, but she's getting the Nutcracker and Sugar Plum Fairy ornaments for her tree!

(Disclaimer: I'm not getting anything from this, and she didn't ask me to post about her) Browse unique items from DesignBCC on Etsy, a global marketplace of handmade, vintage and creative goods.

The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards

Northern Virginia Friends and Family-

In case you need an excuse to get away from the city and enjoy beautiful Virginia views and wines:

Christmas Craft Show
November 20

The Quilting Cow will be there with handmade Christmas ornaments, gifts for children, and home decorations.

Hope to see you here!

The Barns is a family owned and operated winery and vineyard located in Hamilton, Virginia where premium wines are enjoyed!

Loving these scrappy, happy wall hangs/ornaments!

Felt Nativity Set can be hung on wall or played with on the floor. Children are able to reposition each character; perfect for tactile learners and young children!

I am not one of those folks that jumped out of bed this morning and cranked up the Christmas music, (but more power to you!) but the colder weather does make me start thinking of the upcoming holidays!

This year, I am challenging myself to buy gifts from local artists and small, independent stores as much as possible. (My personal goal is 50%).

Why? I know how much it means when I get an order, and I think every artist loves sharing what they do. Plus, you're assured your money is going to a real person, being spent in turn in the community, and that the gift you're getting is one of a kind, and very special.

Thoughtful the next few weeks I'll be posting gift ideas from The Quilting Cow and other crafter friends whose work I love and think you will too.

LOVED finally giving this wedding present to dear friends Bobby and Kim. They were married a year ago, and Sophie was their flower girl. I hope it becomes something they use, love, and pass on to kids and grandkids!

For any Raleigh purchases I can also deliver weekend of October 7.

This is the time to grab a baby blanket for special little one, pick up some fall decor, or get a head start on Holiday presents!

Table runner with modern Christmas fabric on front, and a sweet patriotic theme on back! As always, machine washable and reversible. $28

Fall Decor

One of my earliest quilts went to a great home on Saturday!

Ron Campbell is running for the Leesburg Town Council, and Robert Wright for Leesburg mayor. These are both non partisan elections, and Mr. Campbell thought this would be great decor for his office.

I agree!

Thank you for supporting local businesses!
