Parent Liaison / Welcome

A LETTER FROM CHAMPE PARENT LIAISON

Dear Families,

My name is Suzanne Lyles and I am the Parent Liaison at John Champe High School. As the Parent Liaison, I am a LCPS employee who acts as an advocate for all students and families within the Champe community. I can connect you with school and community resources and services to help with situations that may impact your student's success or your family's engagement with the school. These situations can include economic hardship, illness, language or cultural divides, family dynamics and more. Given the current pandemic and the alternate learning environment this school year, many families may find themselves navigating new circumstances and needing support. There are opportunities for families to both receive and/or provide assistance. All interactions with the Parent Liaison are strictly confidential and privacy is always maintained.

If your family anticipates needing assistance this school year, please complete this online form or use the attached Resource Request form and return it to the JCHS counseling office marked for my attention.

If you are able to provide assistance to families in need, please consider becoming part of the Champe Cares Network. Cares Network families will be notified of opportunities to help and may choose to donate or volunteer as they are able. You can join this network by completing this online form.

At any time during the school year, you may reach me directly by email at [email protected]. I am always available to address needs, answer questions and provide assistance.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Lyles

After this week, it will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays through October 1, 2020. The hours are 8am to 10am.

[09/08/20]   FYI.

Good morning, John Champe families.
This is Principal Tyson. I am writing to inform you that there was a hardware failure on John Champe’s campus impacting access to the internet on the school campus this morning.
Many of our teachers planned to teach from their classrooms this morning, and their ability to hold class has been interrupted as a result. Please ask your students to login at the time they had planned to in the event their teacher is not affected or the issue is resolved.
An LCPS technical support team is onsite to resolve the issue as soon as possible. At this time we do not know what the caused the hardware failure.
We will update you as soon as we have additional information.
Thank you.
Kevin Tyson, Principal

Victor O'Neill Studios - Appointment System

Senior portrait information.

Congratulations on making it to senior year. I know many of you have been anxiously awaiting the senior portrait information. Please read the following information from Victor O'Neill Studios carefully. If you have any questions, email our Senior Class Sponsor/Yearbook Advisor, Ms. Abdelrazaq at [email protected].
Dear Parents and Class of 2021:
We at Victor O’Neill Studios, your school’s official school photographer, are excited to see you on the following date(s) for your senior portraits at the school:
September 21-25, 2020
Due to safety concerns during the COVID-19 crisis, we will no longer be mailing appointment notices home. It is safer to communicate with everyone through email and allows us to control the number of appointments throughout the day. Instead of pre-assigning a time for your senior portrait, we are offering you the opportunity to select your time through our new scheduling software. Please sign up for your session time here:
pickatime.com/vosphoto/johnchampehs
The preferred dress for the yearbook pose is the seniors' own jacket and tie with a collared shirt, nice solid colored collared shirt, or a dress/blouse. If you wish to wear the photographer provided tux/drape or cap and gown attire, you will need to bring a signed waiver. Please note that the tuxedos and drapes will be shared with other seniors while we are there. Everyone photographed will be featured in the yearbook whether they are wearing the tux, drape, or their own attire. We will still take casual and cap and gown photos at this session using the photographer provided gowns, and we will have another opportunity to do the cap and gown photos in the spring when the graduation gowns are distributed. We will have the following modifications in place to ensure a safe environment for students, parents, and our staff:

We will have signage in place to encourage social distancing while students wait for their turn at each camera.

Photographers will not come within physical contact of any student and will stay behind the camera.

Photographers and assistants will be in gloves and masks while students are present.

All of our staff will have their temperature checked before reporting to work each day.

Anyone entering the room where portraits are taking place will have their temperature checked.

Any shared clothing will be sanitized using steamers between students.

Masks must be worn by anyone entering the building, only to be removed immediately prior to having portraits taken.

Props will be sanitized between uses.

We appreciate your cooperation with the following recommendations:

We recommend that anyone with underlying health conditions not accompany the high school senior to the school for their portraits if at all possible.

Masks will be provided to any customers desiring one.

Give each other space and follow the social distancing guidelines.

Wash and sanitize your hands often. We will have sanitation stations throughout our portrait areas for your convenience.

Most importantly, if you feel sick, have a fever, are coughing, have difficulty breathing, or if in the last two weeks you been in close contact with a person with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, please stay home.

We strongly encourage you to reschedule your appointment if you or anyone in your family is feeling unwell.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to [email protected].
