With the recent push to decrease the use of narcotic pain meds and dangers of prolonged NSAID, there are a lot of trends on the rise to facilitate this. One of which is CBD, which we get tons of questions about. Here is a reputable sight with good information. As PTs, our job is to decrease pain while increasing function. There’s a lot of scientific evidence to support CBDs use for pain relief and it’s anti inflammatory effects. If nothing else it’s in an interesting topic to investigate.

In an effort to be part of the solution with the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, we are limiting our normal operating hours from 7am-5pm on Monday and Wednesdays. These appointment times will be reserved for patients with post-operative or emergent needs. For those with non emergent needs or existing/recently discharged patients, please give us a call. We can answer questions, progress patients home exercise programs over their online platform, or potentially provide a one time visit for evaluation and to establish a home treatment plan. Stay safe and continue to follow the CDC guidelines for cleaning standards and social distancing, as we are in the office.
Some positive treatment news...and based on science. No spin one way or the other.
nbcnews.com At least two hospitalized patients who got the drug remdesivir started to feel better the next day. Clinical trial results expected in late April.
In an effort to keep everyone updated, we continue to remain open and are here for our patients who need us. While we understand the world is not how it was 1 month ago, we continue to help provide some normalcy for our patients. We are taking this threat seriously and keeping our patients/staff safe is of utmost importance. Here's what we are doing:
1. Occupancy in our clinics will never exceed 10 staff members/patients, per CDC. So please do not bring extra people with you unless absolutely necessary.
2. All patients will be asked to wash their hands upon entering the clinic and after completing exercises. We of course are also cleaning all surfaces frequently. The more the better though.
3. We are also practicing social distancing in the office and keeping patients as far away from each other as possible.
4. For our Fairfax patients...The racquet club will be closing but we will remain open which is of benefit to us as we will have no other people in the building. Which is a good thing.
5. We are also screening new patients with standard questions.
We're here for you. Feel free to call with any concerns. We understand this is a trying time for everyone.
It's always best to talk about the elephant in the room, COVID-19. Here is a link to a great CDC site that has all sorts of info and links. We plan on continuing our normal protocols of good hygiene, cleaning all surfaces, and understanding/appreciating when patients cancel appointments due to illness. Deep breath...
A friendly reminder from the CDC. ;)
Often we get questions about who we are as a profession , what we do, and our educational background. There is a common misconception that a physical therapists' job is solely to provide strengthening programs/exercise. Many don't know, that like chiropractors, we hold doctoral degrees and can see patients in many cases as a first line of treatment. This article does a good job giving a quick summary of the important role we play in healthcare and keeping people healthy/pain free so that they can do the things they love and maintain their normal function..

A new study from JAMA neurology suggest that engaging in physical activity and lowering vascular risk may have additive protective effects on delaying the progression of Alzheimer disease. Here's a quick breakdown!
📌 People who increase their physical activity by as little as 3,300 steps a day as they get older have less accumulation in their brains of a protein linked to Alzheimer’s disease
📌 From the researcher: “The takeaway is that every little bit counts when you’re talking about physical activity. You can get a substantial amount of protection just by increasing what you’re doing by a little bit, and making sure to maintain that level.”
